Whether they are regular or radial is not so important. The important thing is the ply rating. My trailer tires are 8 ply.( I haul an Islander) The other important thing is a set of good brakes on your trailer. Under NY State law you must have brakes on trailers that are rated over a thousand pounds. It is not usually checked or enforced, but that is until you get into an accident. Besides it really saves you money on your truck brakes.

The 1KW Furuno 585 and 587 are top of the line and at the same time overkill for Lake Ontario. The Furuno 620 and its new and improved brother the 627 are all you need down to 600 feet and holding bottom. 99% of our fishing is done at depths not exceeding 200 feet so the 600 watt is fine (it is what the Furuno 582 uses). Another fishfinder that you may want to look at is the 600 watt Sitex 650. It's new on the block, but Sitex is right up there with Furuno in the commercial market.

Yes it does. -
The 585 of course, but the furuno 627 is just as good and a lot cheaper
-
Semperfifishing has the Furuno 627 with a P66 Airmar transducer for $859 which is by far the cheapest anywhere. You will get a fishfinder that is as good as the Furuno 582 with a much better screen resolution and also more user friendly. The best way to get it is by registering onto "The Hull Truth" website and buying it through there. He also sells the Sitex SVS 650 with P66 Airmar transducer for $635. This finder is said to be the equal of the furuno 620. It is probably the most bang for your buck.

Sorry rolmops but, I don't know where you got your information. As a U.S. Army vet I took an oath at the time of enlistment that stated I would protect the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, either foreign or domestic. Please note the word "domestic". As a citizen I still uphold that oath and the contents of it. NOBODY should be able to say that as a citizen I can only carry a limited amount of ammunition and what I own as a weapon to protect myself and my neighbors. It was a right granted to me/us by our forefathers in the 2nd Amendment to protect it's citizens. A fully automatic weapon is not only used for ambush, but for attack as well. Also the larger clip allows you to carry more ammo without the need to reload all the time & not necessarily on auto. I was drafted into the IDF in 1973 and was trained in airborne naval demolition. Thats where I got my information.

The good thing is that all you guys who feel that your rights are being threatened don't go out and shoot up people. As for large or small clips, a well trained soldier changes clips in 3 seconds and the extra weight of a large clip usually undermines accuracy. The only use for a large clip in combat is when you are ambushed and you have to run into the ambush with your gun at full automatic spraying bullets into the ambushers. In almost any other situation the gun will be fired at semi for greater accuracy. In short, you really do not need a 25 bullet clip in Olcot or Wilson.

Well umh, I AM NOT SUPERSTITIOUS, but when I am in my own boat, I first bless the water with some of my own but if that does not work I pour a libation of either beer, coffee or whatever else I happen to be drinking. Beyond that,if things still don't work I start telling myself how beautiful a day it is, the planer boards go out with 2 lines on each side and the copper follows down the hole. At this point I have way too many lines to properly care for and whatever hits usually tangles up everything else. When fishing with my team,we have a very serious ritual involving washing our hands in a very secret blessed substance and during tournaments we add a ritual that is very secret but it includes a Hail Mary or two. Does it help? Why else would we do it?

This 2 year oath of good behaviour is part of a very old legal tradition that is kept alive in Guernsey. Besides,on an Island with only 65000 people, this guy is branded by now. Unless he wants to leave the island he will behave.

Nick,do you now have 2 boats for sale and a third one waiting for some room in your drive way?
-
The Garelick does have a problem that you should be aware of. When lowering the outboard,it also goes farther back behind the boat. In quiet water that does not matter, but when it gets a bit snotty, you will find that the waves will make it go in and out of the water causing the engine to race while no water gets into the water pump. This means that you must place your bracket below the specs given in the instruction manual. If you decide to buy a second hand garelick give me a shout and I will send you the manual.
-
My boat is also an 8 foot beam (Islander) And it seems that even the one down the middle is too much. I save that place for copper when it is too rough for planer boards

There is another pro for the fluorocarbon. When making fly leaders you will find that the fifty pound fluorocarbon gives the fly a much livelier action than mono, because it is much stiffer.
-
In that case you had better be prepared to sit on shore staring at a flat lake because a weather forecaster predicted 6 foot waves
-
Do not underestimate the fluorocarbon. Even for cod fishing at 300 feet down,my fluorocarbon leaders (everything else being equal) have better hookup rates than regular line

Check if the salt water o/b has anodes and what state they are in and check if you can loosen up bolts on the block and whether there is white powdery stuff around the bolts. If things loosen up easily and there is no evidence of electrolysis/corrosion (if fresh and salt water look the same) you should be alright on both. Ask to see the driveshaft on the salt water o/b and check for pock marks . If everything looks good ,go for the engine you like best and don't worry about salt.

I agree and disagree. Yes they are scum,a family of mentally sick and deranged scum. No they cannot be ignored, because allowing even one funeral to be disturbed by these sick creatures is one funeral too many.

NRA supporter killer?....do you believe the NRA supports his type? Helps his type? Wants to let criminals run rampant with any firearm, or do they want the rest of us to have the freedom to choose our way of life in the face of a killer trying to change that? I do not believe that the NRA supports these killers. That's why I wrote NRA supporter killer, not NRA supported killer. -
Rigger placement is all about ease of use. If your gunnels are low relative to your deck, use the board. That way you will get to the rods faster and you don't have to bend over every time you grab a rod. If the gunnels are high already, there is no need to make them any higher. Also on smaller boats you want everything as close to the center as possible because the higher off center, the riggers will act like rudders and the boat will start to pivot around your rigger and specially your dipsy rod.

Thank you Glenn. May you and your family have a happy and blessed Christmas and a great year to come. As for those three months,I remember pictures of Richard on your boat looking like an icicle. That surely must have been less than three months from new year.
