  1. Longline ,I'm with you on this one. Guns may or may not be part of the solution, but they are certainly part of the problem. As for the cleaver attacks in China. Half a dozen attacks caused the death of 20 people. One attack with a gun caused the death 26 people. Should I explain how many deaths would have occurred if the cleaver guys would have had high power full automatics or even semi automatics? (the semis would probably have killed more). Anyway with our local NRA supporter killer in Webster removed ,I wish you a merry Christmas.
  2. There is a big article in the Sunday D&C about this stocking event in I-Bay.
  3. I saw some 2000 and 3000 pounders at Harbor freight for a pretty good price.
  4. Very sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you. Cornelis.
  5. Tim,this is not a discussion about the right to bear arms and I am sorry for allowing myself to be provoked into that direction. Just one final word. I fought in 3 wars and it has completely healed me from ever wanting to hold a gun again.
  6. Vince, your remark about always blaming the guns is not really on the mark. To blame the guns is wrong, but using every opportunity, even terrible ones like the one that just happened, to sell always more guns IS to blame. The NRA is a commercial organization with one purpose only, which is to sell guns. If anybody thinks that they need an M16 or an AK 47 to defend their home, they should join the army and go to Afghanistan for a while. that might change their point of view. As for video games, I think that those games are terrible ,mostly because they glorify killing.
  7. This would be the solution that the NRA would love to promote.
  8. You can try,but make sure you don't launch into shark infested waters.
  9. It makes you wonder why we spend trillions of dollars to "defend" our freedom 9 thousand miles from home, while we kill each other at home.
  10. " Eventually the forward force of the motor will push the piston in and it will be too far down again, pulling right." This should not happen unless your T&T is leaking oil or the seals in the pump or pistons allow the oil to stream back. My first suspect is the right hand piston. It sounds like there is something weird going on. Can you make a picture of your engine and the transom and post it?
  11. I have a set of bright yellow Michigan Stinger 10 pound pancakes. They don't work as good as torpedoes.
  12. For all you gefillte fish catchers, Happy Hanukka
  13. Yes, we must do something. This fall I lost a prop because of the water level in the channel out of I-Bay and with the winter storms carrying in more sand,it will just get worse.
  14. Maybe so,but you admitted that you fished Seth Green rigs before you ever found out about down riggers.
  15. 300 leadcore dragging a sawbelly.
  16. The balls will get you there, but it will be with a lot more blow back than the torpedoes.
  17. That may be so,but if Tom wins the lottery he will probably rig up a remote control fuel barge just because he can.
  18. Maybe there was a chemical spill there
  19. Why? Six legs is more meat than four, besides, this would be really fast food.
  20. Yes, I do agree.
  21. Looking at this from a very different angle, there might be more to this rumor than meets the eye. Some herbicides have spectacular results on fish. Specially a herbicide that is used when growing cucumbers. The cukes are perfectly fine for human consumption after application. However, when this herbicide is spread in the water,it causes a big fish kill. Again, the killed fish is perfectly fine for human consumption. Illegal "fishing" with this chemical is a real problem in Israel in the sea of Galilee. The killed fish makes its way to the fish market in Tiberias. Maybe somebody around here picked up on this trick.
  22. Weed killer is not used very often in the end of November.
  23. With hardly any water in the tributaries and some bays effectively landlocked, what will this do to the natural reproduction of our target fish and its bait and how will it effect the fishing two and three years from now?
  24. It may be a good idea to have every rigger weight in the same shape and weight. They will all react the same way to whatever currents and speeds they encounter. This will increase the probability for the relative distance between the weights to stay the same. Different shapes will have different reactions thereby increasing the chance of tangles.
