  1. What worked really well? On lake Ontario: Just horsin' around!! I had the time of my life with Lou and his sons and Paul is a blast to be with!! For breakfast on board: Dibella's multigrain roastbeef, swiss cheese with onions lettuce ,tomatoes, honey mustard, cucumber with salt and Oregano. In the finger Lakes :mooneyes on leadcore at 1.8 mph
  2. All of a sudden spam pops up as messages. Any stored info such as e-mail addresses or credit card info (professionals) may be compromised. Easy sites that make no noise when hacked are used as training ground before going on to bigger and better things.
  3. Hint: 8=H Sort of like the Rush Limbaugh show, the answer is provided with the question so everybody can feel smart
  4. there is no temperature difference in the lake so all the fish are where the bait is
  5. Hm,I always thought that a combination of different lines and depth set up a balanced overall presentation, which is attractive because it is balanced. What I read here is very different. where does balanced overall presentation stop and singular presentation start?
  6. That is what they look and act like in my back yard in Brighton.
  7. This will be more than a slap on the hand. Now their finger prints and DNA are on file and they are on "the usual suspect list". If they are not properly punished,at least they are neutralized.
  8. I may be far off the mark here, but here goes anyway. We know how to attract and net the lamprey while they come up the creeks and we know how to kill them. Would leaving big bags of dead lamprey in the creeks possibly do the exact same thing that this research suggests? On another note. I am not at all sure that I want the lamprey to ignore the creeks that they are known to spawn in. It would just make them look elsewhere. I would much rather attract them to certain streams and catch them. Then destroy them by removing them from the water, while all the time attracting them to the same streams. But no matter what way is used. In order to see the results, it will take anywhere between four and six years because of their life cycle. What to do with the dead lampreys? They are great fertilizer for organic gardens. All the guts and bones of the fish that I catch are buried in my garden and ever since I started doing this, the size of my pumpkins has doubled! I would just be a little bit wary of the night crawlers...
  9. +1 It's the same with fishing gear and don't let me start on their competitors price matching policy which only works if you know how to jump backwards through burning hoops.
  10. This ethanol fuel thing was much promoted by the Bush administration, but it really is the thing of the mid western corn producing states and the political power of the farmers lobby also known as the corn lobby. Republican or democrat,it does not matter. The farmers lobby has us all by the b@lls.
  11. Good salt water reels are called PENN. All my Penns are used every year on the Cape and Stellwagen Bank. My oldest one is from 1984 and she still works like new!
  12. Maybe, but I think that it is all the fault of those Quebeckistanies.
  13. Yea right, and he did it with the help of those evil communist socialist Canadians. It's time to bomb Toronto!!
  14. It may or may not be that bad. One thing is certain. It will bring in a lot of sand and other crap and the channels will be clogged up. We had better start calling for dredging them channels.
  15. That is the very reason why specially wild pig/boar is very risky to eat.
  16. Before you rip into the engine, check out if the prop has spun. Draw a straight line on the prop and the rubber center, run the engine in the lake and after it surges, pull it out to see if the line is still straight. If it is in a different place on one of the parts, your prop has spun. If so, replace it.
  17. I don't know the make, but I saw it in Parry Sound. It is about 36 feet long. The back is set up for trolling with all the gizmos you can dream of and on the front end there were these three bare breasted young ladies laying in deck chairs, drinking cocktails.
  18. It has to do with the minimal needed water levels in the St. Lawrence River.
  19. There is an enormous amount of that going on ,just not so much in the USA.
  20. The water in the Colorado river does not reach the sea anymore because it is used up by different interest groups. This has destroyed much of the fish breeding grounds in the Bay of California. The need for water in that area is forever growing and it is there that big commercial interests want to pipe Great Lakes water. Currently the inflow and outflow of the Great Lakes is well balanced, thanks to the 9 state Great Lakes Consortium which does a great job at protecting our water. but if water is going to get pumped away, the level will go down, much faster than you might think.
  21. I wish it was that simple. One question only, what happened to the Colorado river?
  22. What worries me is not the Texans migrating here. It is the big companies who are constantly trying to inch their way into control of our great resource. If we do not pay attention, they will start loading up tankers in the middle of the lake and sell the water to some desert oil countries , or try to lay a pipeline to Las Vegas so they can suck our water to the desert in order to maintain golf courses that should not be there in the first place. Both of these things have come up in discussions already and some big interests are trying to buy politicians to get that ball rolling.
  23. Find out where the guy lives or lived. If it is very close to the brine, chances are that it has been in salt water a lot. I would not worry too much about, but is a good reason to get price down by a hundred or 2. You must make sure that the lower unit is not leaking ,because salty water in the gear box is deadly.
  24. N42 47 684 W76 30 042. Go that spot and you will find out what I mean. Or if you want to stay closer to home,go to the tip of long point and take a bearing of 225 degrees true for 0.92 miles and, just as you come from 120 to 80 fow go in and out to 60 and back out to 80 (that often means a straight line as the depth goes in and out) while aiming south. That is a great just after sunrise spot when the lakers come back in from the central lake. If you want to go real deep after monsters, go from long point at 200 degrees and you will hit a hole that is about 180 feet deep .find them there and run over them with your leadcore and saw belly, then stop and allow the core to sink way down to close to the bottom and stop and go for a few seconds like that a few times. Good Luck.
  25. When you kill something with your car ,think of it as "fast food",that's what they call it in 315 country.
