Fredo's Bro says the lake level is the new norm..
rolmops replied to Bozeman Bob's topic in Open Lake Discussion
I'm curious as to how you will accuse the Governor of letting the lake level drop too far if he lowers it now the way you want to. It pays to be informed before loudly expressing the mood you are in. Just for fun you should check the amount of water being released now. I know of a politician, whom you may have voted for, who would probably try to sell all the water in the lake after promising you that he would protect the lake. -
The Berkly line counters are are very precise. They work well for powerpro braids. But you must use them to let the line out to the desired length and then take them off the rod or they will just be in the way.

With the torpedo 7 strand wire, you can untwist the wire every so many feet, slip a colored strand of yarn in and twist the line back into shape again. It is precise and will not move

Advice needed: Once in a life time destination?
rolmops replied to alex1young's topic in Musky, Tiger Musky & Pike (ESOX)
I suggest Mal Pais in Costa Rica. Beautiful weather, beautiful surfing ladies everywhere, and great Mahi Mahi. Less than half an hour from shore. The Mahi is a better fighter than a musky. The place is not a tourist trap and the guides are laid back and good. My guide, a six foot six giant , nicknamed little one and his 25 foot boat gave me a fantastic trip at a great price. pm me if you want to know more. What about the guy on the south end of Owasco Lake?, Or even better Owasco Marine on 38A? Those guys are helpful and quite good at what they do.

I use it all the time when trolling in Cape Cod Bay while going after stripers using 5 or 6 ounce bucktails. It mimics the way that squid swim and fall back on the bottom. It also gives you a lame arm. with all the zebra mussels on the bottom of Lake Ontario it will probably get you hooks full of shells and no fish.

You can , but it is tricky, because while using one engine you can cause back flow from the other engine which often ends up as sucking air from one engine to the other. One solution is putting check valves in both lines. The problem here is that often the negative pressure is not quite enough to activate the check valve and the problem may persist. Another solution is shut off valves in both lines after the T. In my experience, the most foolproof solution is using a multi directional valve instead of a T. It is a valve that has one intake (source) and 2 or 3 outlets . Whenever the shutoff inside opens one outlet, it will close the other and on top of that, it often has a complete shutoff as well. This is the fool proof one that I use. You will need only one primer bulb which is before the valve. This is a moeller fuel valve They come in more shapes and forms.

I am tired of hauling my Islander 75 miles every time go to our lake house and the idea of permanently storing a squaire stern canoe with a small electric or propane/gas outboard looks more appealing every time I have to deal with the transport and launching logistics. The lake our house is on is Owasco, which is a small lake that I know like the back of my hand. My wife tells me what fish she wants for dinner and usually within the hour the fish is in the pan ( or not). LOL I call it Wegmans Lake. What squaire stern would you good people recommend and what power source should go with it?( I am currently rebuilding a 1993 9.9 johnson) My center of gravity is rather high as in around the shoulders, while my sense of balance is such that I need low seating in this canoe, maybe even outriggers. All opinions and advice are highly appreciated. Thank you.

If you have one of these laying around and are willing to part with it, please send me a pm. The 94,5,6,7 are the same so that would work too. Cornelis. -
The problem with those guys is that they hunt blue fin. So they allow you on their boat for a fee, let you catch the fish and then will not let you keep it Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I checked out a charter out of New Jersey. They charge about $5000 which works out to be $800 per person. They stock free beer. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I called the company and they gave me my money back instantly. On top of that they gave me a very plausible explanation as to why the captain had decided to cancel the trip. In the process they also pinpointed the area where they fish and showed me the local weather report for that particular patch of the ocean. That convinced me that I will try again next year. As for booking a private charter, I would love to, but given the price and the potential alternative use of that money just makes it unrealistic.

So the trip was canceled for the third time in a row. Except, this time I got the cancellation call 400 miles east of Rochester on my way to Hyannis. This time, the captain canceled because of the weather that was brewing for Tuesday. The funny thing is that all the buoys in the area that we were supposed to fish showed waves no higher that 3.5 to 4 feet and the weather forecast for the fishing period was good specially for a hundred foot boat. I feel that the captain did not want to go out with a group that was just slightly larger than the minimal number required. I really feel pissed off after paying a $113 down payment, reserving a hotel, traveling 400 miles and on top of that being threatened to have my car towed from the Helen H property when I came there to talk and clarify the situation. Oh did I mention the three days I took off from work? My feeling is that the company just blew off the paying customers and hid behind a storm that the captain conjured out of a clear blue sky. Unless they come up with a really good explanation and my money back , I will not use them again and I will file a complaint with the Cape Cod chamber of commerce, although I suspect that they will cover for their own people and not the customers.

Over before it starts?

I believe that the minimum is something like 15.The rig leaves out of Hyannis. It is the Helen H a one hundred foot aluminum boat that goes fast enough to come up on plane. On Monday we are 16 people (so far) on an ultra limited (max 24 people) trip. I think the Weekend trip which has a limit of 30 people will be fishing.Their phone # is 1-508-790-0660. you can reach me on my cell at check your pm

Trip was canceled . There are not enough participants. I switched to another trip on Monday and Tuesday. So now I will be fishing in Woods Hole on Saturday and Sunday for stripers ( not strippers) and then go off shore.

I'm leaving tomorrow for Hyannis (Cape Cod) and from there on to deep water about sixty to eighty miles off shore in the canyons. We are targeting Swordfish, Mahi Mahi and Yellow fin tuna. I hope to put up some mind boggling pics by Friday night

The truth is sadder than that. NYC does not think about us at all. But some upstate companies and counties are very eager to offer NYC room for the garbage. The stinking in our backyards was created by the local county officials that you voted for. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
