Sometimes water comes in from the bilge pump outlet. On my islander that happened. The solution was redirecting the bilge hose so it was much higher inside the boat while the outlet stayed in the same place. Check valves are a big no no in bilge lines. (the bilge dirt gets them clogged and stuck).

I fish very often with a person who voted to make America great again. We get along great and respect each other's opinion, but when we are on the boat we do not talk ,think or refer to politics, because that is not what we are there for. ( Well, not completely true. When one of us catches a slimer and it craps its dreck all over the deck, we sometimes call it after that guy's favorite politician). -

I think that that banner is probably the reason why the fishing was hard. That thing is like a sail. You either go too fast or too slow. As for what it says, well, to me it's like this. When I fish 2 miles off shore, the last thing I want to be reminded of ( on a big banner no less) is political mumbo jumbo. Please stick it in your yard and keep it there. -
I spent the last 2 days on Owasco as well and the story is much the same. A ton of fleas. So much that I reeled some 50 pound mono on my reels and solved the problem that way. I mostly went after very deep lakers with meat rigs and got some 10 pounders from 150 down. It was a nice experiment. The rainbows and browns were in the 40 foot range and provided some great entertainment, I had the barbs removed from my hooks which caused me to loose a few during their acrobatics but every time we lost one that way, we cheered it on. All in all a great time

I would go with Torpedo for weighted steel and with A-Tom-Mik for copper, although others swear by Blood Run

About a year ago I bought a Penn 345 on E-Bay and it came with this gizmo: I loaded the reel with 1000 19 strand + 300 weighted steel Let it out with a one pound weight at the end in order to reel it back up and have the line nice and tight on the reel. I thought I might as well try to use the adapter to see if it does anything. And boy, does it ever. Gone are the efforts to have somebody else reel in the 500 copper and have him get a lame arm. these things work! I have them on all my Penn reels for copper ,wire and leadcore and the cordless drill has now become a standard part of my fishing gear. The lines come in faster now than they go out. They are for sale on the Electra-mate website for about $25. It's a bit stiff for a stainless bolt , but definitely worth it. I have no financial interest in this thing. The Turn-A-Mate Crank Adapter is a specially machined stainless steel device, which replaces the handle screw on big game reels and is designed so that the reel can be driven either with a simple cordless drill or the 412-T and 440-T Turn-A-Mate Drive. Please note, however, that a cordless drill is not designed for use in a saltwater environment as is found in ocean fishing and the life of the drill will be very short and unreliable. As such, a cordless drill is not recommended for serious fishermen. Model 11-932PD Fits Penn 320 Gti, 330 Gti, 340 & 345, 113H, 113HL, 113HLW 4/0. The Furuno is very user friendly, but the best advice is really in the user manual. Best screen scrolling speed is important because that will give the right size fish marks and so on. Watch some YouTubes and play with it in demo mode. Enjoy your new very good fish finder. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Do you use sliders with scorpions? The superman scorpions on sliders seem to be magical. -
What I mean is the 19 strand torpedo wire tied to 300 copper. First the copper goes out and after 300 feet of copper line, the 200 feet of 19 strand wire follows down the chute. The torpedo maker (Matthew) claims that the sinkrate of the 19 strand behind the weighted steel is the exact same as the weighted steel because it has extremely low water resistance. I use 200 and 300 feet weighted steel wire followed by 19 strand wire and it works great for me. It is my number one fish catcher. I just wonder If I can use the 19 strand combined with copper instead of weighted steel wire and still have the characteristics of copper, but minus the bulk and weight of 500 feet of copper

It is said that 19 strand torpedo wire has the same sink rate as weighted steel when it is used combined with steel. It also said that weighted steel has the same sink rate as copper. So can I use 300 copper +200 19 strand instead of 500 copper? It would mean less weight, smaller reels and fewer copper related birds nests. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I don’t think that a Penn 345 will hold 500 copper and backing. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app -
After a proper idle mixture adjustment all problems cleared up. It has never run so smooth
