Me thinks that quite a few ex suburbians provide jobs for others like lawn mowing businesses and other property maintenance. Never mind the school and town taxes that they pay on land that used to be farm land with a very low tax return. And finally, all the land that is no longer hunted now provides a safe haven for wild life to breed and that wildlife will spill out of these places into hunting areas which will be better for it.

Wanted 400 feet of weighted steel line

Matthew of Torpedo has a few youtubes out with really interesting knots for the 7 strand, the 19 strand and the weighted steel. Personally I like to use the Albright with shrink tubing or super glue. In order to be able to properly tighten the knot on the wire I spray it with some WD40 or silicone spray. That way it has enough lubrication to properly tighten. This keeps the knots from clumping up and causing trouble when it goes through the guides. -
Wanted 400 feet of weighted steel line
rolmops replied to rolmops's topic in Classifieds - Buy, Sell, Trade or Rent
I tried that but I found out that in order to get the same depth I had to add a weight. It all depends on the speed and size of lure. My trial was at a speed of 2.8 miles with a magnum lure over 80 foot of water On one side I had 400 copper and on the other side 200 feet of 19 strand and 200 feet of weighted steel. The copper hit bottom but the wire did not. After adding some weight, the wire hit bottom as well. Besides, I picked up a Penn 345 with a small extension coming out of the center of the handle. It is made to stick a drill onto and it can reel the line in reel quick. Since I no longer want do deal with copper, I want to fill this reel with 400 weighted steel, 200 19 strand and a lot of backing. -

400 feet of weighted steel line Does anybody know where to find a 400 feet roll of Torpedo weighted steel line? All I can find is the 200 or 300. Thank you. -
Let me first state that I love being outdoors and love to fish. Hunting goes against my love for animals ,but may that be as it is. Did it ever occur to any of you guys that you may have turned into hunters and fishermen and nature lovers because there was nothing much else to do where you lived? Did it ever occur to you that so many people left upstate because they did not like what it has to offer? And last, could it be true that the state has lowered the permit fees because the economy in the rural areas is not what it used to be and by lowering the permit fees the state tries to keep residents here ?

It is true that they are a different genus but the farmed atlantic salmon has been genetically altered and chinook genes have been added in order to take advantage of the very fast growth rate that chinook has. Hence the worry about possible cross breeding. A lot of genetic altering has happened since 1999
-
I believe that their chief worry right now is the possibility of heavily hybridized Atlantic farm fish reproducing with pacific wild stock. Even though chances are small, this would very much weaken the wild stock. That is because farm stock is bred to grow fast and fat on as little food as possible and wild stock is lean ,mean and capable of overcoming incredible hardships in order to reach their spawning beds.

I had to replace the doghouse on my Islander last year. I figured that there are a few important things to consider. Like durability, strength, weight and noise. I considered pressure treated plywood, but canned it because it is too heavy and it does not react well to painting. In the end I went with 15/32 exterior grade plywood which I covered with three layers of paint on the inside and the outside,. For framing I used 1.5 x1 studs. Between the plywood and the studs It became a box that I can stand on. In order to prevent rot I put rubber knobs on the bottom so the plywood will stay dry.,but the water will flow freely underneath. For noise damping I bought a sheet of car noise insulation material and a can of 3M sprayable glue and glued the material onto the inside. To make sure that this material will stay in place I added 2 or 3 narrow strips of wood that lock this stuff in place. I ended up with a light weight nicely colored doghouse. I secured it to the deck with hinges on the front to make it easy to open the doghouse while at the same time securing it. Hope this helps.

Oh, come on now, what's not to understand?

What amazes me is that not many people have converted their 4strokes or for that matter mercruisers to propane or liquid natural gas. This is becoming quite common in Europe.

There’s no weighted line between the tip and the clip, just the 19 strand which I wrap a rubber band around and then put the band in the clip Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
-
Another thing I like about the convectors is the line counter. If you use the weighted line in combination with the the 19 strand, You no longer need all the individual lengths because the sink rate of the line stays the same after the weighted line is out and the 19 strand is going down. 200 weighted line gets you 40 feet, but 200 weighted line with an additional 100 feet of 19 gets you 50 feet down and an additional 100 of 19 puts you at sixty. So if you get a 200, a 300 and a 400 combined with the 19 strand and the line counter you will have covered all your depths while saving space in the boat and money in your pocket. That is what I will have next year.

I used to love copper for stealth presentation, dislike it for the chore of reeling it in and hate it for the endless cluster of birds nests which took way too long to unravel. Just this year I discovered weighted steel by "torpedo" products from London, Ontario. It handels nice and smooth, does NOT produce birds nests and has the same sink rate as copper. I'm done with copper and I strongly suggest looking in to the weighted stainless. In my eyes it does all the good stuff that copper does and none of the bad.

Out of I-Bay 10-1
rolmops replied to rolmops's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
It was roughly north and a bit east of the river, but the mass of cold water that these fish were in has moved at roughly 2 miles per hour to I don't know where, so you really should not take what was yesterday as a starting point for tomorrow -

I usually fish for browns until the end of November and only then do I winterize. -
Out of I-Bay 10-1 We left the bay around 6.45 am and headed for the Genny ,but we really did not want to get in between all the boats going back and forth in front of the river so we decided to go deeper and take advantage of the scum lines. Sure enough the currents and temperature were all over the place and there was a stiff south western breeze which made it unpleasant to turn around. So out we went . Over one hundred feet down, the screen started showing a steady stream of bait and hooks at about a hundred feet down. Down went the probe and sure enough there was a very steady thermocline. We set up just above and below. In the next 30 minutes or so we hooked into 2 very large 2 year old kings that were nice and silvery and if that was not enough, when we reached 123 we doubled up on cohos both in the 14/15 pound range. The size of the 2 year olds points at a very good food supply. let's hope for a mild winter so next year we may have veritable monsters in the lake. With four in the box we made our way back to the hot spots ,but the fish were gone. we stayed in the general area until about eleven when we decided to to make a last run over our marks. But where the probe had marked 50 degree water earlier at a hundred feet, now the temperature was 64 to 67. instead of salmon we hooked into a nice brown which we sent back to grow up. All in all a very pleasant day on our beautiful lake

These 31 drones will be very thin spread and indeed they will be used most of the time for search and rescue operations. For 31 drones you also need 31 people to handle them. This is a large chunk out of the DEC manpower as it currently stands. I would share all the "big brother" concerns if there were 500 of them. For the meantime, every time you walk in the city, step in a store or drive on the express way, a camera watches you. So those 31 drones will not make much of a difference.Besides, every DEC officer I have ever met ,seems to be an honorable person.
-
DEC gets 31 drones in order to better patrol the state's environment I read this just 2 days ago. Once they are up to speed with all these drones they should be able to gather a lot more information. Imagine this scenario. Jo fisherman sees poachers snagging fish, but he is by himself and cannot risk a fight. All he has to do is call the DEC and allows them to take his coordinates from the gps on his phone. Some minutes later there is a buzzing sound in the sky and a camera films the misdeeds from above. This will certainly help the very thin spread DEC police force because now they have eyes in the sky.

With all that great music on board you must know that it is good living on a farm ,go ask Alice.

for sale : usa EZ Steer Out/Out
rolmops replied to Little Crappie's topic in Classifieds - Buy, Sell, Trade or Rent
Sorry for the misunderstanding. I do not mean the spring loaded quick connects. I mean the little spring loaded stub (detente kit) with the white plastic cover that sits on the outer bar and locks the bars together when it falls into a slot on the inner bar. My EZ steer has only one,but the newer ones have 2. If yours has 2, I'm definitely interested. -

Does this one have the single spring loaded stop or the double?
