Eskimo Joe is even a legend all the way out west here. They say no sea is to ruff for him to handle, he received his sea legs in the bearing straights. rumor has it fish quiver just to the sound of his name.

Great looking fish there Tom, Happy to see you and Jeremy had a great day on the water. Things out west here are just starting to take off. Kind of cool two guys share the same job and hobbies -

Today at 12;07 , 53,000 6" King salmon where introduced to one of the tributaries of Shasta Lake. This is the start of a great thing for all of us and our grandchildren. Fish and Game would like your help if you catch any of these new fish. They have all been marked , by cutting the right upper lip of the King. Project manager and biologist Monty Currier would like to hear from you by e-mail any information , such as pictures or where they where caught. Thanks in advance for any help you all give. I have not had waders on for over 20 years. e-mail [email protected]

Rod Yes I did pull it, but I think I might have had the wrong color spoon behind it. Now I will have to wait for the last weekend in April when the season opens again. Good luck on your next striper trip

Great picture, thanks . That is the first Atlantic I have ever seen. May be you could ship out some young for us out west .

Pat and I headed up north on Thursday, we arrived at the motel at 4 pm checked in and went across the street to get him a lic. Way to late to fish so I told him what we where going to do on Friday. Up at 6am made the long 1 1/2 mile drive to the lake and not on boat in site. We launched in a down poor with lots of marks and Kokanee balls everywhere we looked. The big Lakers are off the spawn from 3 weeks ago on my last trip. Right away we hooked up a good double digit Laker, with in a few seconds he was gone. The line had broke about 4" above the Cisco Kid Wrangler I had on. Reset and Pat had 3 more fish but it was not meant to be today. Just about 15 min before dark he pulls up a 3 pound pup , his first ever Laker. Saturday back on the water at 7am , the water was like glass and not to my liking. I like some chop on the water and after 3 hours the NE wind came up and things are starting to look good. A few of my local friends came by in there boat and asked how things are, when the copper rod fires off with a great pull. Pat garbed the rod and started to reel in 600' of copper with a hog on the other end. Twenty mins later a 19lb Laker. So in two days of fishing he had lost 5 fish and this one made it worth his long drive from Carson City. This was my last trip up north till spring now. Keep a tight line and it was a hell of a day at sea Captain

Rod Great looking Zebra fish there, Good luck on your next trip out

FISHSTALKER It is two fish per day weigh in and the total of all 4 fish in two days, again this year it was just a tad under 10 lbs. Dale the lake is actually going up since the last storm. Jmat, Sierra Nomad and myself landed over 70 green carp in the two days, they where a major pain in the rear. I have never seen so much bait fish as I have this year. Oh well we are gear up for next Oct

sponge No I have never had that problem , I fish Oregon all the time when the temperatures drop in to single digit numbers. Like this week it is in the teens with snow in the morning and some rain in the afternoon. I use a plastic cover that was made for it while it's not in use. It snaps right over the screen.

Thanks Jim for pointing out the mistake my index finger made , it has been corrected Nick I have your address and there on the way by UPS ground , sure hope the dry ice holds up

What do you all find is a good surface speed for Rainbow Trout ? What are some of the most popular color spoons ? What are some of the most popular artificial baits ?

Team Get Some Did our best. We had 51 Rainbow Trout and 4 Kings. Sure we did not place but we showed them some East Coast style fishing and am sure if it was total fish we would have come out on top. Schools Out ( Nick ) and all of you on the LOU board thanks for all the pointers. Ken and Jeff Arrive Thursday John with his King caught on Ken's Custom Tackle Spoon Sierrra Nomad ( Flip ) With one of the 65 or 70 Bass we caught, thanks to his southern roots Ken & Jeff pulling a set of Walleye- Church in-line planer boards Ken and Jeff's Thursday Catch Team Get Some's Thursday Catch not including all the Bass we caught Saturday Morning The Start of The Derby Oct 17,2009 Picking Out our fish for weight in Sunday Morning 2nd day of the Derby McCloud Arm of Shasta The surface tempertaure on the lake was 63 to 65 degrees all 4 days, When we entered the clear water of the McCloud river the surface temp went down to 52 degrees with in 100' of entering the river
