Also, the rod tensioners come factory pre-set, it should take about 27 pounds of force to pull the rod out. Don't grease or oil the rod.

Just some tips from the owner's manual (my memory might be a little off); Make sure the rod is as parallel as possible when in the running position. Your rod should not have more than 4 to 6 lines or marks showing on the inner rod when connected to both motors (the fewer the better). What kind of issues are you having? Pictures would help.
  3. I've only used transom mounted transducers, so I can't give an opinion about a thru-hull. Swapping a transom mounted ducer is easy. I run my 1198 and HDS 9 on my big lake boat, and the 959 & Elite 9 on my 16' boat. I like running a Humminbird and a Lowrance on each boat because the don't always show the same sonar returns. I also like to run a LakeMaster map chip in my Humminbirds and the Navionics + map chip in my Lowrance units. My Elite 9Ti (not the Ti2) came with the TotalScan transducer and it's a great unit.
  4. Marking fish that wouldn't bite...
  5. I usually don't mark the fish I catch, not with my Humminbirds (959 & 1198 SI), and not with my Lowrances (Elite 9Ti & HDS 9 Gen3). But all of my fish finders mark the heck out of the fish that I DON't catch. A lot of fish swim behind your bait for awhile, behind the range of your sonar beam. If you are barely seeing your rigger ball on your sonar, or NOT seeing your rigger ball at all, then how would it be possible to see the fish that take your bait when it is 10ft or more behind your ball? Don't give up on your fish finders just yet. Point your transducer straight down. This will give you the best fish hooks on your graph. If you point the ducer too far forward or too far back it won't show the best fish returns (arches). Try a different lake, deeper or shallower water, call Humminbird, their customer service is excellent. They will help you with your settings.
  6. Very sorry for your loss. Good fishing friends are hard to find, especially those who understand Lake Ontario fishing.
  7. I'd much rather use those Penn reels for pulling in big planer boards than the reels that are in the market now. I still use Penn 600's on my little boat. They will probably outlast me and I'm only 51.
  8. Lower price, $25
  9. I've never seen those planer board arms before, pretty cool.
  10. Updated the original post because two of the five are sold. Three rod holders are still available.
  11. I don't store any of my electronic items in my unheated garage. I put that stuff in my attic, which never freezes. I agree with what Gambler said about the bad seal or cracked boot.
  12. Do you have a preference for which two you want?
  13. I'll check with the post office tomorrow and see how much the shipping is. The last time I shipped something, the USPS rates had gone through the roof. I'll get back to you tomorrow. Thanks.
  14. What zip code are you in? So I can see how much shipping would be.
  15. Selling three Tite-Lok rod holders, in excellent condition. The rod holders are only 2-3 years old that I bought new. Only selling because I upgraded to Great Lakes rod holders. These sell for $40 new, asking $25 each. Local pickup around Watertown NY, or I can ship for addition actual shipping cost.
  16. Just wondering how to attach them to your line. I bought some Penn riggers a few years ago and they included a pair of 6# weights and a pair of 10# weights. All four weights had these unusual Penn line release body assemblies on the tail fin of the rigger weights. All of them have the tabs that attach to your fishing line, but I'm wondering how the tabs are supposed to attach to the line. I can't find any information about these Penn Releases anywhere on the internet. I'm sure the tension screws are still set to where the previous owner had them when he used them last. I took the releases off the 10# weights because I couldn't figure out how to use them.
  17. These aluminum boats are easy to trailer. When do you plan to do a shakedown trip?
  18. The two support legs on the bottom step can be removed and mounted on the other steps.
  19. These are $145 new.
