  1. Hey Pap, it's a tiller steer model. The more I think about it the more convinced I am that a sticky old throttle cable might be what wore out the grip and helix parts. I've only had the motor for 18 months, and it was never easy to twist the throttle grip. It wouldn't stick at high throttle, but it was pretty tough getting it to twist for more speed. It wasn't as easy to turn as my 15 HP model was.
  2. Good idea Bada Bing, I'll look into that tool.
  3. Thanks hard knox! I've located a couple of cables online already, but I wanted someone else's opinion first. This motor is in pristine condition, so it wouldn't surprise me if it's the original cable.
  4. Small Outboard Throttle Cable, Lube or Replace? The throttle cable on my 1980 Evinrude 7.5 is difficult to move by hand. I just replaced the grip, helix, and pin parts, but wanted to see WHY the old grip parts had difficulty adjusting the throttle. So, while I had the grip and helix off the tiller handle I attempted to move the throttle cable by hand and I was surprised by how much effort it took. Should the throttle cable be easy to move by hand, like a new steering cable? It doesn't feel right to me but I have never had to replace one before. I'm thinking I probably need a new throttle cable. Is there a way to grease the cable? What are your thoughts? Thanks!
  5. My 1987 center console with an outboard was hard to steer with both hands. So I installed a new steering cable and helm and it is now steerable with one finger.
  6. Congrats to the buyer and seller!
  7. Nice looking boat, priority! For any potential buyers out there, these boats fish real nice, and they trailer easily with a 1/2 ton truck. I have a 1987 21' Trophy similar to the one and we use it for fishing and camping, from Lake Ontario to Cranberry Lake. Three adults can sleep in the cuddy, and my dinette converts to a 4th bed. These are also great boats on the Finger Lakes. My 305 OMC burns about 10 gallons of gas trolling all day on Lake O. It's a great boat for a family of four, especially if you trailer it to different lakes. Here's mine...

    Sold / Closed 95 Islander. $9000

That'll do it Jim. No splash well, so the full height transom keeps those pesky 3-5 ft following swells out of the boat.

    Sold / Closed 95 Islander. $9000

This boat fishes great. Jim, try to post a pic of the motor mount. It makes the boat handle like a 26 foot boat rather than a 22 footer. That 135 Merc idles right down without bags, buckets or a trolling plate. Good luck with the sale!
  10. Welcome to the forum!
  11. The best way to get in touch with Harvey is by phone. If you leave a message with your name and phone number he is real good about returning your calls. Very pleasant to deal with!
  12. Very nice! These Mag 10A's work just fine, if anyone is interested.
  13. Jim, were these on your Islander last year?
  14. SOLD to Foul hooker! This was an easy transaction with Foul hooker. Payment was sent and received within minutes through paypal. I wouldn't hesitate to do business with Foul hooker again in the future! I just like to give a good word about a seller or buyer when I can.
  15. SOLD to Foul hooker Pending funds.
  16. Foul hooker, I sent you an email, from ballistics04. I didn't figure in the cost to ship it to California, which would be around $18.85, plus PayPal fees. Rather than add $20+ to my $70 selling price, how do you feel about splitting those costs and call it $80 shipped? Basically we'll be splitting the shipping and PayPal cost. If that sounds fair to you, let me know, and I'll send the PayPal request ASAP for $80 total, which would include shipping. Thanks, Todd
  17. Thanks! I got home late last night from the ice rink. I'm on PayPal now, getting this payment request ready to send you.
  18. Yes, I accept PayPal. Send me a PM with your email and I will send you a payment request through PayPal.
