Yep, I hear ya. I had some doubts about the Bayliner I bought, until we took it for a test drive on Seneca. The test drive spoke for itself and sold me on the boat. It might help you sell it if it can impress a buyer on a test drive. The new motor is a big plus already. I had to put money into the last boat I sold, and we agreed on the price before I had to spend the extra money (a $100 part) and time to get the motor running right. I spent $1,500 fixing my last boat, only to turn around and take a $1,500 loss on it. I wasn't happy about it, but I already had my Bayliner. Again, best of luck with the sale.

Jim has a fish hawk X4. Not sure if it broke since last Friday, but it was working then. I've fished with him twice in the past month and he's fun to fish with. He catches fish, so maybe he was in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong bait. He covers a lot of water, to include the trench real early this morning. He puts out a variety of lures, flashers and colors, so who knows why he couldn't hook into one today. His Islander has the 3ft extended motor mount with a Mercury outboard, so it handles real nice out there. -
I'll do certain repairs myself, but I knew the shop could do a much better (and faster) job than I could, especially with aftermarket parts that don't fit exactly like OEM parts. If the lake is too rough to fish with my 2160, then it is also too rough to fish with a 26' boat in my opinion. I'll trailer my boat to a lake in the Adirondacks if Lake O is too rough for fishing. I like having other options that a smaller 21' boat gives me. I've had my boat out in some real nasty 4-6ft chop and I turned around and went home. The forecast was 2-4'.

Just an FYI about the cost for a new shifter and cables... They were really bad in my 1987 Bayliner 2160 so I just paid a local shop in Clayton NY to replace my shifter and throttle/shift cables. The parts alone cost $400, so it sounds like this boat might still be priced really well considering what new shifter parts cost, JMO. Good luck with the sale and finding your next boat.

Lily, that 2 rigger and 2 dipsy set up is usually what I run too. The rigger on the right side of my transom has my Sub Troll on it. I lost my biggest fish this year on a dipsy. I never saw the fish because he chewed right through the brand new fly in front of the treble hook. He took over 150 feet of line before he finally broke off. That dipsy was only running about 40-50 feet deep, it was a few weeks ago. I'm fishing this Sunday. The shop replaced my entire shifter, throttle cable and shift cable so I can't wait to feel the new shift mechanism. Thanks again and best of luck out there!

I love my 1987 Bayliner 2160 with a 5L OMC Cobra I/O. It has the fully enclosed cabin because my family enjoys camping on it. It handles fishing duties on Lake O very well, but it's also easy enough to launch at other lakes like Cranberry. We trailer it with my Toyota Tundra half ton crew max. I can't imagine that you would be disappointed with a 2004 Bayliner. As long as it is well maintained by previous owners it should give you many years of reliable service.

Thanks for the info Lily. I like to keep it simple, no doubt. Usually it's just my 18 year old son and I fishing in our boat. When the lake isn't crowded we'll fish 2 riggers and 2 dipsy rods. When it gets more crowded we'll use four riggers and a dipsy rod off the center of the transom. This year has been all about getting the boat set up for next year. That includes electronics, tackle, and boat maintenance. I'll check out some of those Baltic Sea videos you mentioned. Good luck out there!
