  1. Thanks! Any idea what the water temperatures are on the east end?
  2. A charter captain I know went out a few days ago and could only land 3 lakers and a pickerel. I don't know what his customers wanted to fish for but this captain knows his way around our end of the lake and had a real frustrating day. How has the salmon/trout bite been lately for anyone else out of Henderson? I haven't been out on Lake O yet this year, but hopefully in the next couple weeks. Thanks!
  3. Welcome to the forum!
  4. I run an 859ci DI GPS with an older Lowrance LMS339 on my 19ft boat. I get no interference on the screen, but my Lowrance ducer is on the left side of the transom and the 859 ducer is on the right side. Humminbird told me that any 2 transducers can cause interference with each other if they are mounted too close to each other, regardless of make or model.
  5. Just out of curiosity, what size weights are you running? I have the older Mag 10A's and they are slow but steady. I limit my weights to 10 pounds because I am afraid to put any more weight and stress on them.
  6. Great catch! Some of those big ones are so fat that they have stretched their stripes like spandex
  7. I try to locate bait in the water column where ever I fish. I have fished smaller deep inland lakes the last 2 weekends and I was marking individual fish but not much bait fish. The surface temps are still around 49-50 degrees, and 42 degrees just 25ft down. I haven't made it out on the big lake yet this year, but maybe in a couple weeks. Home remodeling is the priority until the major work is done. I was surprised by the differences in fish temp data that I came across. The northeastern shore hasn't been real productive yet this year according to the fishing reports I'm seeing, and I'm not catching fish on the smaller lakes either. Thanks for the feedback guys!
  8. I've looked at 4 different sources and got 4 different sets of numbers, as shown in the pics below; Both of these are from the hard cover books called the Freshwater Angler Series or something like that. This one is from the Fish Hawk XD/X4D manual This one is from the Moor Sub-Troll manual This one is from the NY DEC web site What source do you trust for the most accurate preferred fish temperatures? Some of these are close, but some are pretty far off.
  9. Nice job, and thanks for the report. We're you using a down speed & temp unit? Just curious what the water temps are now.
  10. Congrats to lunchbox!

  13. Whatever length will work on your boat without interfering with your fishing lines, rigger lines and netting fish. On my 19ft boat I like to keep them in front of my center console.
  14. Cotton Candy UV
  15. Mint Bubblegum
  16. I think mine are 3/8" ropes.
  17. I'm glad the trip from Ottawa paid off for you, that's a pretty good drive.
  18. Thanks for the report and congrats on a good weekend.
  19. Thanks for the report. I'm not hearing many good reports from the upper eastern shore around Henderson.
  20. I took advantage of the nice weather this weekend and mounted my Penn manual downriggers and two fish finders on my 1974 Sears Semi-V aluminum utility boat. I put my Humminbird Helix 5 DI GPS up front for my son, and a Humminbord 698 SI GPS in the back for me. I don't usually put a motor on it until I know which lake I'm going to. I use my 3.3hp Evinrude on the lakes that have a 10hp limit, and I use my 25hp Evinrude on lakes without a HP limit. I'll also use my 7.5hp Evinrude as soon as I finish converting it over to a short shaft. I also put new cables on both riggers today, and mounted them on some 180 degree swivel bases. I have a 35# thrust Minn Kota trolling motor that I can mount on the stern if I need to. She's a bare bones, no frills, fish catching machine. I have to clean up the transom so I can add her name. She is appropriately called Rock Bottom, due to the fact that she operates on a rock bottom budget.
  21. Sounds like boga is the way to go. Now I just have to see how bad I really "need" one
  22. A few years ago I bought a lever action rifle from an individual. We did the transfer/sale at a gun shop, paid the $10 fee and all was good. Its a PITA but it is what it is. I am 100% against the safe act but I wasn't willing to take any risks by doing it illegally.
  23. Thanks guys, I'll check them out.
  24. The legal "safe act" way is to do the exchange at a local gun shop (or someone with an FFL). It cost $10 for the transfer fee (paid to the gun shop or FFL holder). It requires filling out the federal form for a firearm purchase as if you were buying it new from a gun shop. (unless they changed that rule, but I don't see Cuomo giving back any of our gun rights). Or you could hide the money "under your pillow", and find the gun there the next morning when you wake up...
  25. Looking for a good quality fish gripper scale and wanted to hear what other big lake fishermen are using. I know there are a bunch of models to choose from. Looking for one that is reliable and sturdy. I've narrowed my search down to a handful of models but wanted to hear from some of you first before I make a purchase. Thanks in advance for your feedback! I forgot to mention that I will NOT be using it on fish I plan to release.
