  2. Very interesting topic. Thanks for sharing [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  3. That would be why "would anybody eat fish from the lake" Certainly not prepared by the finest chef in rochchacha!
  4. Yeah, I already tossed it after posting/looking at the pic. It didn't look as discusting in real life. ehh, just my personal opinion - but I don't personally see why eating a fish from lake O is any worse for you than most other things we like to do but will probably kill us some day.
  5. Did you check all of your fuses? The next step I'd say is to remove the cowling on your engine and disconnect/ firmly reconnect each molex connector one at a time and try your tilt after each one.
  6. They are bad out here near rochester as well. Even 3 miles out!
  7. Ended up going out this afternoon from 4-8. A whole lot of nothing! Marked fish 40-80 feet down out to 350 but could not coax a hit. Tried everything I had. Tried to find a glow frog for this afternoon but couldn't in the time that I had. Ended the night with an old lady slamming on her breaks in front of me (her ABS engaged) in order to make a turn last minuet. Almost went off the road with the trailer, but ended up with a busted break line. No damage, nobody hurt - best possible outcome. Only thing is that now i have to run brake lines in the truck before I can tow the boat again. I enjoyed the time out on the water today, turned out beautiful. Plus a got a king to boot!
  8. Right above the ribcage... Is this fish safe to eat?
  9. Thanks for the tip. Will try that this afternoon! We ended up going 1 for 2 with a 14 lb king in the boat. Both hookups came on a green/silver custom spoon in 150 down 50 nw of the creek. Also had something on on the 42nd spin doctor with green glow fly down 20 in 40 at the mudline. Going out this afternoon weather permitting. The salmon has some kind of growth under its spine. Will post pic tonight when I can get to my computer. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]

  11. thanks again for all the advice everyone. Just took the boat out on the canal to make sure it was all good. perfection! Also ended up picking up some new blacks releases, some flashers, etc. I plan to head out for the early bite tomorrow morning and fishing till 10:00am or so with the father and father in law. Ray - I respect your advice and opinion as someone who has done this for years. No such thing as "just a plummer". I will have my radio on 72 - not sure how my range is.... But what is an appropriate way to obtain fishing information over VHF? Just listen? Thanks
  12. hahahaha For the record, I wasn't talking about RAY being the tool.
  13. Thanks very much for all of your help! All of this is news to me - especially about the thermal breaks. I ended up just running out and grabbing a spin doctor (42nd Spinny) with a Green glow fly. Also got the one dipsy rod spooled up with wire, I think the second will have to wait till tomorrow. If you all see a brown boat out there this weekend looking like fool trying to act like it knows what its doing just smile and wave... it will get better as the season progresses....
  14. I am planning on getting out to do some trolling on my newly set up rig for the first time this weekend. I am borrowing some old cannonballs from a friends father until I get some of my own. My equipment: 18' Sea Nymph Deep V w/70hp OB Humminbird 300TX - monochrome 2 Rod holders, one on each side 2 Riviera Manual crank downriggers w/ 4' booms on swivel mounts with integral rod holders 1 Riviera Manual crank w/ 16" boom (not installed) 2 Dipsy combos I got from ScottB - I am adding wire and twilli tonight 2 Trolling combos Diawa levelwind w/ light action heartland rods. These are spooled with 15lb mono Assortment of trolling spoons Two standard Dipsy Divers (glow) Two inline Dipsy Divers I'm pretty excited, but trying to figure out what exactly to do when I get out there. I'd like to target salmon, although it looks like people are still having a lot of luck with browns. Keeping salmon in mind, I am thinking of heading out to around the 100 FOW mark and dropping my lines to around 40' and trolling west from sandy creek and back keeping in that depth range. Is this a good or bad plan? I have some green/white green/chrome spoons that I plan to use on all setups. Can anyone suggest any alternatives? Thanks for your time, Matt
  15. I know my garbage collector would take it. Can you call yours and see if they would?
  16. More info for anyone in my position viewtopic.php?t=4802
  17. Hey Ray - That would be great! I would gladly make the drive to corning. I just need to figure out when I can make the journey. I'm pretty sure I can get off work early and grab a buddy to make the roadtrip with. If it makes any difference on the weight: I have riviera manual downriggers with 4ft. booms, I got them used so I don't have paperwork. I'd think they could hold 10-12lbs? I'm looking to fish out of sandy this weekend. I'll give you a call a little later this morning.
  18. I am in need of two downrigger combos for this weekend. I have two Gander mountain gift cards valued at $25 each to trade along with cash. You can call the number on the card and enter the validation number to confirm that I am not trying to be dishonest. These will complete the bare minimum for what I need with the exception of another cannonball and a bunch of misc. tackle. ... and... well you get it. In total I am looking to not spend more than $50 cash in addition to the $50 in gift cards. Could be a good deal for you if you are looking to upgrade and "pass the torch" as Ray K says. Also need that cannonball. Thanks!!!!
  19. Good to know... i was wondering "wow, isn't that guy a moderator?"
  20. Updated offer for you... PM sent Please let me know.
