  1. On my boat I went with 48” track. My boat is 22’. No regrets.Riggers are mounted at end of track almost in back corner.Forward from each rigger is a ball cradle and 4 traxstech adjustable rod holders. Rod holders get lots of use. Sometimes we run 2 diver rods per side. Also there used for board rods. Be sure and use backing plates with your track. Good luck.
  2. Worst I ever seen. Been using 30 lb mono this time of year for many years. It did not keep the fleas off yesterday. It was like clothes line rope on a rigger rods after 10 minutes in the water. The rope of fleas was 5 to 6 ft long. Fastest way to clean it was to cut line at top of swival retie and put back out. Repeat every 10 minutes. I've tried Bloodrun seaflea 30lb and feafliicker 30lb neither did the job . I've heard some are going to 40lb on riggers , might try that. We were on fish out there, but I felt our presentations looked horrible because of the fleas. Best rods by far were my 300 weighted steel rods off boards. The thickness of the WS kept those rods fairly clean. The 30lb 7 strand wire diver rods were the worst, the flea rope on them would be 10ft long. Usually my wire diver rods are my best rods. I guess we could of picked up and moved 5 miles to try and get away from them. Will take any advice. Thanks
  3. You got me all excited. Went looking for news release couldn’t find it. O well won’t be long. I check satellite shot of Erie every day . Still some out there put it looks real loose. It’s Gotta to get to 250 sq. miles to yank boom. I think April 1 - 5 is average when they start pulling it. Coming soon.
  4. Creek Rd Bait & Tackle ,4419 Creek Rd, Lewiston. #716.807.6111. You'll find them on FB. There right on your way to the Ft Niagara. Very friendly.
  5. Wet Net Fishing charters. Matt Yablonski,716-550-0413.Theres a # of good ones out of Wilson & Olcott. Matt will work his butt off to show you a good day. Mid August is a great time to come.
  6. Scotty customer service(in Canada) was great to me with faulty counters on my 10 year old 2116's. Apparently they outsourced the counters to a company in Malaysia. In 2 seasons i had about 10 counters fail on my 3 riggers. They admitted to me there was a bad batch of counters on some of there riggers. Each time replaced under warranty 100%. So the last batch they sent are holding up. Overall I'm a pretty happy Scotty customer.
  7. Vision Quest Sportfishing, Wet Net Fishing charters and Torpedo Fishing products all have good videos on setting up and using weighted steel. All on Youtube
  8. Torpedo Weighted steel much more user freindly then copper . Check out Youtube videos. Some captains running no copper just weighted steel.
  9. Chris will take good care of you.
  10. Please do not cancel show !!!
  11. Where are you located?
  12. Problem with a bolt together trailer is all the bolts come lose and out off adjustment just from normal use. Dealers like to put expensive boats on cheap trailers IMHO.
  13. I bought a new venture trailer about 10 years ago for my 2450 Lund Genmar sport cabin. Previous trailer and boat damaged in road accident. Boat was fine after accident but trailer was totaled. Bought new venture from local dealer in buffalo ny. After only 2 seasons had to replace all tires. Seemed trailer was flexing alot from boat wieght I was told. All tires wearing unevenly. Also want say I'm a trailer guy. Sold that boat and trailer it was time. Anyhow what I'm getting to is it took me a long time to learn there is are 2 types of trailers out there. The ones that are bolted together and the ones that are welded. If your a trailer guy like me you want a welded trailer. If your boat suits in the harbor every summer and on the trailer over winter a bolted together trailer will save you money. Look at all those beautiful bass boats running all over the USA. There all using welded trailers. Just MHO.
  14. Agree 100% with Chuck Smith. To put the boat in nuetral with a full trolling spread is nuts in IMHO. If that's how you want to catch Kings then go to Devils Hole and cast from shore. We will slow the boat on a big King and sometimes turn almost 90 degrees to reduce pressure on a freight train run of 400-600 feet on a big King. But never would we put the boat in nuetral . Doubles,Triples and Quads are alot of fun. Just my HO.
  15. I've been pretty happy with Boat USA/Geico. Had to get towed once and had another claim. Easy to deal with and very professional. Premium was reasonable compared to the rest.
  16. I tried 30 lb blood run sea flea line. Found that 30 lb big game did better job keeping fleas off.
  17. You cannot have to many rod holders on a fishing boat in MHO. On my 22 ft PenYann I have 19 rod holders that all get used. 7 are on the hard top. I hate rods laying on the floor. Just my HO.
  18. I agree with fisferdude track setup is the way to go. My boat I have 4 ft of traxtech track on port and starboard gunwale. On that track I have a rigger,a ball cradle, and 4 traxteck rod holders. The rod hplders will be used for 1 or 2 dipseys per side. The other rod holders used for lesdcore or weighted steel lines off inline boards. If I had to do it over I'd go with cannon rod holders just like em better. The track doesn't matter that much its pretty much all the same. Just my HO.
  19. I much prefer the VHF over the cell phone. I learned how to troll Niagara county waters of L. Ontario by listening to two charter captains on there secret channel. I miss the chatter on the radio that we used to have years ago. Sometimes that chatter totally saved my day. I've made good friends with quite a few fisherman from talking on the VHF. I find channel 10 & 68 are a good place to be on Niagara county water of L. Ontario. Sometimes we'll pick a channel no one ever uses and we'll just stay on it all day along with 2 or 3 other boats. My boat has a remote speaker for the VHF. IT sounds like your sitting in the boat right next to us. Just my HO on VHF.

  21. Yes its open. Deeper water at south launch. We always use the south. Can't tell you about north but it will be shallower.
  22. Be careful what you buy. Suffix makes a performance (micro) lead core and a traditional leadcore. Traditionals been around a long time. The sheathing is dacron I believe. We use 27lb for Ontario and Erie trolling. The micro uses a different sheathing material. I believe its spectra ,the stuff that Power pro is made of. I'm not saying the performance or micro leadcore is bad. I'm just invested in traditional leadcore. I have a bunch of reels loaded with different amounts of leadcore all with traditional 27lb. A friend likes the micro/performnce leadcore and all his reels are loaded with it. If you go traditional you gotta use either the insertion knot or the VQ knot to make connection of leadcore to mono or flourocarbon leader. Checkout Vision Quest Sportfishing on Youtube to learn the VQ knot. I used to use the insertion knot, now only use the VG.,much easier. For backer I use power pro 30lb tied to leadcore with an albright knot. I do not replace my ledcore every year, Got some thats been on reels 4-5 years. Forgot to mention performance/micro supposedly gets down 30% deeper then traditional cause its thinner. Especially like to use inline boards with sickbaits for Walleye on Erie. A 5 color catches alot of eyes for us. Late in summer we'll run four 10 color rods. Good luck.
  23. I'm on my second TR-1 in last 20 years. It really helped sell my 1989 Lund Genmar back in 2015. Current boat is a 1997 22 ft Penyan Outrage with a 9.9 Prokicker. Love my TR-1 and my prokicker. If the TR-1 dies I'll probably replace with garmin reactor 40 which I've heard very good reviews on. Love the boat control and economy of AP on the Kicker. Trolling with AP is fun. No AP is not fun IMHO.
  24. Have a 2010 Merc 9.9 pro Kicker on my 22 ft Pennyan . As mentioned in earlier post its made by Tohatsa. I've been very happy overall with the motor. Did replace the electric starter motor a couple years ago. Don't think I've replaced water pump impeller yet and I'd say its time. If I was looking to buy a new 9.9hp I'd take a good look at Tohatsa . I know the pricepoint is alot lower then Honda, Yamaha or even Merc
