The fishing is pretty good right in downtown Clayton. You can sit on a bench and fish in 20fow. Keewayden park is good too. You can't fish in the marina but there is a lot of river front. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

When i started chasing musky catch and release was just catching on. "One for the wall" was accepted then and that was my plan. But once i finally got one in my boat i knew i could never kill one,no matter how big it was. Way too magnificent an animal to turn into a knick knack. After last week's big score i talked to mom about a replica. After some discussion it was decided(by her) that it was way too much money for something that was going to collect dust in the basement as there was NO WAY it was hanging over her mantle. So be it. Chautauqua Musky Season
old man replied to mostlymuskies's topic in Musky, Tiger Musky & Pike (ESOX)
scenes like this are all too common. It's too bad all you need to fish legally is $25 for a license and a pole. When you renew online you don't even get a rule book. The rule book should have a section on handling fish safely and should come with every license. Another good idea would be an online fish handling course. To get people to take it the dec could offer a free year's license on completion. That's a good idea if i do say so myself. I will write the dec and suggest it.Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United -

I used to pull two five gallon pails behind my boat. Kind of a pain at net time but it works. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

I was out with a knowledgeable guy last week who had side scan and knew how to read it. I've never seen it before. Now i can't wait for my old unit to fail so i can justify getting it. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

I have been getting ads on facebook for New York's online boat safety course. Despite knowing everything i took it for the heck of it. It takes 3 hours and you don't have to pay unless you want the certificate. It's very well done and worth doing. And i found out out i don't know everything. I got two wrong out of sixty on the final but to be fair i was drunk when i took the test. On a serious note with boat safety on my mind i checked my safety gear. My flares are outdated,i need a new fire extinguisher, and worst of all my mustang inflatable pfd is 9 years old and never been serviced. So i put it on and got in the pool...nothing. I pull the ripcord...nothing. I count on this thing to save my life during the cold water season and never bothered to read the maintenance info. Lesson learned. I started this thread to thank a guy that took me fishing and showed me a good time. It hurts to see it morph into animosity. We all love the same thing and some of us love it enough to share the how, when, and where so others can feel the thrills we cherish so much. The dec fish stocking program is in place to maintain quality sport fishing which brings in MONEY. So be careful what you wish for;if no one knows about your lake they will go elsewhere and you won't get stocked. It's independence day in the greatest nation on earth. Let's all get along.
