  1. I camped at hamlin a few years ago and used the sandy launch on saturday and sunday when it was real nice out. An hour each time is pretty accurate. Tough to run up that hill when it's 90 out. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  2. This weather is bs. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  3. Not a big fan of night fishing but this sounds pretty good. Do the folks at the campground mind boats loading in the wee hours? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  4. The bay at the state launch is as good a spot as any. Like mooseknuckle said;eel bay is good for pike. You can fill your boat with small to medium size pike there. Look for the patches of taller weeds in all the acres of short stuff;that's where they are. Around sunset anchor in the river at the entrance to the bay. Worms and minnows will get you a nice mix of smb, lmb, perch and northerns. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  5. I had one follow there once. Decent pike fishing there. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  6. I launched at Mayville today at 5am and cast until 1pm. Right away one blew up on a topwater in front of Chautauqua marine but no hookup. Kept working south after that. Had two follows in front of the mansion with the big staircase. Then i lost one and had a follow fishing the hazard buoys near snug harbor. I had a nice gar on at warners and lost that too. Not many weeds yet. Then i remembered larry talking about the weeds being up in Ashville bay so i went south. Found lots of weeds in Hadley bay so i fished there. I hooked two low thirty ish fish and lost both of them;one to a jump and the other i knocked off with the net. Headed back north to revisit the followers and picked up this 20 footer. After i towed him in i figured karma would be with me but that didn't work either. Still beats working. Lots of boats out, even some tubers. Water was around 67 and about 7 feet of visability. 8. I use wire but it's just personal preference. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  9. I only fish for esox but i catch as many bass as most guys that target them. Bass are not as line shy as most people think. Heavy braided line and big leaders don't scare them off nor do they hesitate to eat baits half their size. Sounds like you know where the pike are,you just need heavier gear. The best pike only bait i know of is a nickle red-eye. I like the 4" ones, but the 3" ones are just as good. If you want to fish for pike without a leader use a really big spinnerbait and you won't get bit off. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  10. less than 17 cents each. Reasonable for a muskie bait. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  11. that's gospel, right there. Pike are tough. That's why there are so many in so many waters despite the lack of respect and abuse they get from a lot of fishermen.Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  13. i'm not quite there yet but with my gopro i get a photo and never have a fish out of the water over ten seconds. or sometimes i just get a net shot of smaller ones like this. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  14. You let it go and it swam away. Well done. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  16. That must have been exciting. I'm glad the fish won in the end, though. Eating any esox causes E.D,so be careful. I have an extra beckman net you can have if you want to pick it up in Newark. It's one size down from the big musky pen. Gaff is illegal. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  17. Some years ago when i was struggling to catch two or three muskies a year i stumbled into larry's "mostly muskies" website. He posted detailed info on baits, depths, trolling runs and everything else. I wrote it all down on my fishing hot spots map as i read it. I still keep it in my boat's glove box. Everything larry posts is for real. Now i fish shallow and cast into weeds because that's what i like to do. But when my sons or sons in law are with me and my program isn't cutting it i break out the "larry" map and can usually boat one. Thanks for the help and keep it up! 22. Looks to be pretty damp around there! I can't get a day off this week. I hope to get there on the 10th. I may try Waneta some evening this week, though i guess it's a muddy mess? Anyone been there yet? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
