  1. The duck may have hit a tip up but it's still a good message. My dad beat this into my head nonstop while i grew up. Shore fishermen seem to be the worst offenders on this. I walk my dog 365 days a year, usually along the canal and other waterways. I am forever picking up line and hooks. My dad would rise from the grave and kick my behind if i didn't. 2. I can't believe you guys stand in that water. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  3. A fantastic fish for sure. And at no cost to the taxpayers. We could have a shot at northerns like that in a lot of waters if the dec would tighten up the rules. The body count has been high this winter. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  4. I think the fine is appropriate. Considering his attitude towards the rules i doubt not having a license will deter him from fishing. Keep in mind he would have gone unpunished without the intervention of other anglers. I don't suggest confronting poachers but getting evidence for the dec could help stop some of the funny business. The dec doesn't have the manpower to catch many red handed. But they do investigate every well documented complaint. There may not be a conviction every time but i think a visit from the dec would make most people think twice about breaking the rules. It's our outdoors and we can all help keep an eye on it. 8. Pretty soon you will have an i-phone app that interfaces with your lowrance unit and your outboard that will take you to the biggest and hungriest fish in the lake. Then it will select a bait and tell you how to present it. And i will still get shut out. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  9. this is my little garmin. I bought it 6 years ago on sale when it was discontinued. It still works great. It's small but even on split screen i have no complaints. I would love to have a big screen job but not for that kind of money. I think some of these big electronics we see today are as much for bragging rights as anything else. And with technology advancing as fast as it is that $3,000 unit could be obsolete next month. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  13. well said.i know the conesus tournament raised some nice money for a great cause but i still think a photo on a bump board would be good enough.let the winner be inches instead of pounds.Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  15. i think there are some people who don't have boats who can only access these fish through the ice. We are in another extended ice fishing season which will result in less fish during the open water season. About ten years ago i was invited to a valentine's day party at a cottage on conesus. When we got there the hosts had a dozen tip ups set up and each hole was numbered. Inside was a board where you put money in a jar and bet on a hole for the biggest fish. About ten pike died that day so some pinheads could have some "fun". Disgusting. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  16. I don't think pike are stocked anywhere in New York. I believe pike can spawn as early as 2 years of age and always by 3 but i am no biologist. The state stocks a lot of walleye in a lot of waters. Pike survive because they're tough. So my two cents is eat some walleyes and release the pike. Enjoy your new camp if it ever thaws out. 17. It says on the pmtt site $600/qualifier. Too rich for my blood. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  18. That really was well done. Makes me wish i could get out instead of working all day and trying to get snow off the roof afterwords. I have fished a lot of those spots and caught nothing. Just follows and one lost at the boat for me at the cave. Still,it's a neat lake where you feel you'll get one on the next cast. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  19. Some nice ones! Perhaps i should swallow my pride and go out with a good guide on the river? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
