43"x23" tiger through the ice

I saw a neat video at "lunkerville" today. They had the new self deploy minn kota trolling motor with i pilot on a new ranger. They dropped the ranger in the water without ropes and then used the self deploy motor and i pilot remote to bring the boat to the dock while one guy parked the truck. Wow,the age we live in! Sorry i am not bright enough to post a link. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

i grabbed this off another site. Nice fish but it looks like it won't be caught again. I talked to two lou guys at the niagara expo this past saturday who agreed the good ice this year and last was having a negative impact on the open water fishing. Perhaps the tiger season should be the same as it is for purebred muskie? And perhaps the pike limit should be one or two? Also i think circle hooks should be required on tip ups as they are really just swallow rigs. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Fishing is unlike other activities like bowling, golf,or pool where the more you do it the better you get and the better the results. While you can get better at fishing,if the fish won't eat you don't catch any. I once spent an entire week in september at Chatauqua during the full moon period and caught nothing. I never heard of that lake until you posted this. I googled it and it appears the edge you seek is just fishing there. Looks like a dream trip to me. I would take some 4" red eye wigglers and a johnson silver minnow and a docktor spoon. Good luck and put up some pics. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

I have a calcutta 200d and a calcutta 100te. Both are great reels. Light, compact, smooth and never backlash.(unless you hook your net while casting or hit a tree) they both hold about 75 yards of 65 lb braid. The te broke once but i had it back from their service center in under a week. The 200d seems indestructible. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Largest Pike this winter?
old man replied to Finders Keepers's topic in Musky, Tiger Musky & Pike (ESOX)
I got a pm from this thread that the site won't let me respond to. I respond here:"good idea, let me know if i can help". My e mail is [email protected]. Looks like i riled up some animosity. That was not my intention. I just love all esox and can't stand seeing them killed. A 20 pound northern in new york is a rare and precious resource. Killing them for money and a trophy your children will throw out is wrong. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United -

I see your point. But i still say too many ice caught fish are whacked for the chance at a few bucks snd some glory. I saw a guy cut the head off a 20lb class pike at conesus once and dump the torso. He said he wanted a mount but didn't want to pay for the whole mount. Butthead, Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United -
Largest Pike this winter?

I understand that if you catch a legal fish in a legal way you can feed it to your cat if you want. It's your right. I just hate to see new york sponsor what amounts to a kill 'em all tournament. Why not a photo on a bump board be allowed? Let the winner be inches and not pounds? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United -

I had an aqua view for a long time. It got the job done. Then i upgraded to a marcum because i wanted color. The marcum has a great picture as long as there is a good cloud cover. Any sun at all and you'll see NOTHING. I bought a sunscreen from them but it's a joke. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
