  2. Been up there twice in the last 10 days. Once around carlton island, featherbed shoal. Trolling/jigging,pike yes, musky no. Next trip around clayton, shut out. Gonna hit chatauqua monday or tuesday and put the boat away and drink for 6 months. I'm too old and it's too cold. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  3. I don't want to start any crap but i'm curious. There's a you tube out from "go fish new york/1000 islands muskie" where 2 guys and a camera crew hire a well known guide in clayton and troll for muskie. It's a nice video and eventually they get one. The captain nets the fish and drops it on the deck where it thrashes around. They unhook it,take some pics and she swims off. It was caught from a pretty big boat and i get it that you can't unhook it in the net from a boat that size. My beef is i got ripped on for bringing a 50" in my boat a couple years ago and this guy gets nothing but praise. So if i trade my 18ft champion for a 25 ft grady can i park muskies on the deck and not get dissed? What say you? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  12. Dock is still in and bathroom still open! Water is mid 50's. Two sons and i boated 12 pike by noon and lost/missed at least that many. Nothing real big and no musky. Fish caught on rubber and spoons in 10 to 20fow. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  16. I got an email from steve about the new regulations being considered and the open comment period. Prior to happy hour tonight i wrote to the dec with my two cents. If i hadn't joined muskies inc. i would not have even known about it. If you fish for muskie join the group. If you're a member take a few minutes and voice your opinion.
  17. that'sa waneta musky on a bass size spinnerbait. this is a good spot there. Who really knows when it comes to baits? I have also caught fish there on a ghostail,3"redeye,a4" redeye,a monster tube,a rabid squirll spinnerbait,a baker bait,a savage gear eel,and a rapala. The biggest one i ever caught anywhere was on a 6 inch jointed rapala. The biggest ever in my boat was on a 3" gold redeye. If you use smaller baits be sure to upsize the hooks. Smaller baits often have small wire hooks that will straighten out and break your heart. I believe when a pike or musky decides to eat you can be throwing your toothbrush or a can opener and you'll get bit. Keep calm and cast on.
  18. Wow. Nice fish. Checked out the irish hammer website. Sweet boat!
  19. I left it there to say thanks for the help at the tournament in may and all the helpful posts since. The eel may get you a muskie when all else fails. Some guys on here put up some real useful info, mostly justin and larry. I try to but i don't get enough fish to be a factor. I have a chatauqua map that i have written larry's tips on for ten years. Time of year, depths, lures, speeds, etc. most of the muskies i have caught there are from doing what capt. Larry said. It's never easy to catch a muskie but knowing you're in a good spot with a good bait will keep you going. I
  20. at the campgrounds. Water is down a lot but no problems. 18ft boat.
  21. Nice one. Looks bigger than 43.
  22. I assumed with a full moon topped off with an eclipse i would get bit on every cast. Not so much. One tiger and a stout bass. Tiger ate an eel in 10fow near the causeway. Bass took a spoon under a tree on the west side. Water is 62 and pretty clear.there it goes.
  23. A note about the eels;mine was getting chewed up so i ordered a couple more. I have been using the 12" eel. I also bought a couple 8" ones. No good. They come with a puny wire treble hook that a small esox could straighten out easily. Might be a good bass bait but not up to any esox standards.
  24. Nice story, thanks for sharing. Maybe i'll try music next. My boat came with a radio/cd player i've never turned on. I just need an 8 track to cd adapter.
