  1. Casting. Both hits at boatside.
  2. Water temp is 64 this morning. Caught one and lost one between 9 and 9:30.both in 4fow on savage gear eel.good luck to all saturday;gotta work.
  3. thanks for the info. I was going to go there this week but guess i'll try elsewhere. You saved me a wasted trip.
  4. Really slow there today for me. Lot of boats out. Water is 65 and clear.this pike was the only fish i saw. A guy had his trailer in at the load dock for over 20 minutes waiting for a boat to come in. C'mon man.
  5. VERY nice
  6. Messed that up. Water temp was mostly 66 last week. Saw 62 friday morning as i left.
  7. Way to go up-trim!
  8. Any tigers ever get caught on the dirty side?
  9. Every day. Pike bite was nonstop. Caught one musky, mid 30's,near where you suggested on a black twisted tube in 30 fow. (Thank you) i netted it,turned on the go pro, pulled it out of the net and waved it in in front of the camera for a few seconds and sent it on it's way. When i reached to turn off the camera i saw the screen said"full". Doh;no pic. I should mention i have a new bait i like. Savage gear real eel. Very good bait in the weeds.
  10. I have done a week there without a fish. That place is always tough for me. I only cast and here's where i have caught them;lighthouse point, tom's point, warner's bar, irwin bay and in front of chatauqua marine.(big yellow building). Keep calm and cast on.
  11. No musky but the pike are getting bigger.the second shot is of a 3 man limit of pike that won't be getting any bigger. They were fishing the south side of grindstone island with small cranks and rattletraps.
  12. I got here yesterday and so far it matters not what you throw. They are eating anything. Caught 6 last night and about a dozen today before getting blown off.mostly 5/8lbs,all released. I'm staying at west winds. They were lined up at the cleaning table last night with limits of pike;complaining about the lack of big ones,(duh). Musky hunt starts tomorrow, probably won't get bit again all week. Water is 66. Pike are in every weed patch.
  13. His reply is on wilderness musky. Claims it was deeply hooked and would have died anyway. Said he was jigging for pickerel. Who jigs for pickerel on st. Clair?
  14. The stillers have some classy guys
  15. Nickle red eye is all you need there for pike
  16. I used fluorocarbon leaders for a while. Trouble is they don't kink or show signs of wear. Then when changing lures once the snap broke due to metal fatigue i guess. At least with metal leaders they get tweaked after a couple fish and you change them out. Plus a single stand wire leader acts like a machete as you hack through weeds.
  17. Saw it on pete maina's facebook page. Hard to believe. What's wrong with people?
  18. now that prime time is upon us check the color of your line. Notice the difference between the new braid and what's on my reel. In clear water that will look like an anchor rope.
  19. Video reminds me of one of my bright ideas. Years ago i was eating an ice cream cone at bolt castle watching a mess of sunnies and perch near the service dock. There were 2 northerns near the bottom doing nothing. After the ice cream was gone i started feeding the cone to the little fish. I got a frenzy going and then both pike made their move. So i figure under the right conditions i can jump start the food chain and call in predators to my boat. I go to country max and buy a bag of pond fish food(not cheap). I put it in my boat the night before a trip to waneta. The next morning i have a shredded bag,no fish food, and a deck full of coon poop. Never did try it.
  20. For what it's worth the only bait i use there is a nickel spoon. Red eye, johnson, docktor. I can't get a conesus tiger on a spoon though,go figure. I think they come from the same hatchery. I was lucky 2 years ago and got to watch the stocking at conesus. Quite an operation. They spilled a couple hundred while filling the boats. The little guys were all over the launch disoriented and confused. I wanted to net a bunch of them and put them in my brother's pond but i figured the fine for possessing 20 undersize muskies would take the fun out of it.
  21. I fished from 7 to 1 today. I got a nice one on early near the causeway but it got off on the second jump. After that i had 2 smaller follows and boated a cutie about a foot long. Water is high, clear and 74 degrees when i left. Good to get out after 5 weeks with no fishing. Alcohol free gas is $4.11 at nice and easy on rt. 20. I'm staying in clayton for a week starting the 12th. Any pointers that don't involve canada?
