  1. My 150 efi is supposed to get one every year. The original failed early in season 2. I changed it the next two seasons. Then i bought one and kept it in my truck along with the tools to change it. Got three years on that one and just replaced it last week as to not push my luck. When you change one really grease it up with mercury 24c with teflon. Makes it go on real easy.

  2. I have rented a lot of places on the river. One of the best was west winds in clayton. You will need 2 cottages for that many people there. Another good spot is the state owned cottages on wellesy island. You're not on the water there and have to drive a half mile to the marina. Last time i stayed there it was $750/week plus $10/day for the dock. Great pike fishing from the boat launch to eel bay.

  3. Tigers are the most beautiful of all Esox.

indeed they are! I'll be there with 3 of my sons. At least they say they're going,we'll see. I got one of the cabins there for friday night. 82 bucks with dock and launch fee. I will have the coffee on saturday am. Changed my oil, filters, plugs and impeller today and fired her up. I am soooo ready to fish again! I was going to stay 2 nights and fish sunday until wife informed me sunday is mother's day.
  4. The canal is indeed underrated. I live on it in palmyra. I drive thousands of miles a year chasing muskie. But when i just want to catch fish i walk out back with a can of worms and have at. . Every non trout species is there and they are hungry. My wife thinks i'm nuts to drive to the Larry or Chatauqua and get blanked when there are so many fish right here. But she's not muskie sick like i am.

  5. I agree with the conesus suggestions. Probably the best for pike in wny. Silver lake is good too and small boat friendly. Closer to where you've been fishing try the mouth of oak orchard creek. Years ago i fished there a lot after a report of muskie being caught there. No muskie but i caught a bunch of pike there. There were a lot of gar in there too. The reef hawg suggestion is a good one. Once the water gets to about 65 i would throw spoons for pike. 3 or 4 inch red eyes, johnson minnows, docktors, all in nickle. Black and white mepps muskie maribous are great for pike but after 3 or 4 fish the hair gets ripped out.

  6. This is in reply to a pm i can't seem to reply to.post-142867-13982717920997_thumb.jpgthe walleyes i've caught at swift's have all been tight up to the falls. Best spot is right side of the falls. You'll have to cross both foot bridges and walk across the other spillway to get there. After a lot of rain the other spillway will be going too and you can't walk over it. At aquaduct walleyes hang out in the fast water just under the old powerhouse. Another spot to try is behind the fire department in macedon. There is a boat launch on a channel there with a good current.lots on smallmouth there and some walleyes. I don't fish for walleye, the ones i catch are accidents while pike fishing so i don't know much about walleye baits. In those snag filled spots i use musky size spinnerbaits. My wife got a nice walleye on a white mepps musky killer at swifts last fall. My brother goes after walleyes there and he likes black curly tail grubs on a black jig head. He says just before dark is best. Hope this helps
