  1. Keep looking, one will pop up. I got a nice 40 merc last year from a guy who lived behind the Chinese restaurant in ovid. He had a lot of stuff then but that was before it burned down. Look at whole rigs too. There are some disgusting scows out there with ok motors.
  2. And by the way my marcum(not sure about this one) shows depth and temp.always good to know.
  3. I had an aqua view and now have a marcum, though not that one. I use them to id what i see on the sonar. Also to check conditions where i'm catching or not. It's also great entertainment for the wife and grandkids, giving me more fishing time. My only beef is they are hard to see in the bright sun. Overall a fun and useful toy;sounds like this one can be bought right.
  4. I had a new '88 tracker magna. It was a great boat except for the cheap plastic walk-thru windshield. After 3 years i couldn't see through it. Guys would hang onto it as they came off the front deck and the plastic would pop out. Finally the whole mess blew off on rt. 81. They have real glass walk-thrus now. Probly the most boat you can get per dollar.

    OB1

Welcome ob1. I grew up on seneca. I'm musky sick now but i fish seneca a couple times a year for northerns. Lots of them in there and no one really targets them. Bigger than average pickerel too.
  6. Wow,great stuff! Love that "tiger"catfish
  7. this thread got me looking at old photos of my rigs. This is a 2000 lund and a plug for boat insurance. My homeowners would not pay for this. this pic got me thinking. It's one of my first muskies back when i was using crummy gear and smaller baits. In her mouth is a black spinnerbait with a black colorado blade. I put black rubber leaches on it to make it look bigger. I bet i caught a dozen muskies on that before i lost it to a cheap swivel. I couldn't find another one and then i got some muskie gear and started using "real" muskie lures and forgot about it. It's tough to be senile. I'm gonna make a couple of those tonight only bigger.
  8. Since i outlived my mortgage i've had a new tracker,a new lund and a new champion. They are all good boats. For the money the tracker was the best of 'em. They all claimed to have a revolutionary hull design with a smooth, dry ride. Not so,seneca lake will beat your brains in in any of them. I had to replace the rotted floors in the tracker and the lund. They both lasted about 7 years. The champion is glass so i won't have to put a floor in her.
  9. If i counted right(not a given) muskie season is closed for 202 days and today is day 101. So it's hump day. Sharpen those hooks and grease your hubs, the countdown is on.
  10. That's a nice lund. Had a 2000 17'er. Loved it but needed more room for growing family.
  11. The jump seats that fold into a casting deck is a nice feature you will like. i have a bench in mine. Pedestal seats take up too much room. Downside is with a couple full size adults that far back it takes a while to get on plane. Every boat is a compromise between what we really want and what it takes to keep mom and the family happy. If i had my way i'd have a 16' camo jon and a tiller.
  12. Can't answer that one but nice to see i'm not the only one thinking muskie. Only 105 days til the opener.
  13. Duck,the other white meat
  14. my son took these today at sodis. Beautiful bird.
  15. They get pretty hot while charging. Mine is in a bow compartment. I prop it open when charging but i don't know if it 's necessary. On mine if the batteries get too low i get a code that says it's too low to charge. Then i have to get out my other charger and give each battery a couple hours so the on board unit can take over. What a p.o.s. i'm sorry i don't remember what brand it is and the boat is stored so i can't look. I remember it was the least expensive one at bass. I will be getting a high end one when this one quits.
  16. i have had this garmin for quite a while. It has maps of the great lakes,st. Lawrence and the bigger finger lakes built in. Works great. Sonar is ok,but i just cast for esox so all i care about is the depth. It was about $400. It also has tons of other features i never bothered to learn.
  17. this is my personal best at spending money on muskie baits. It's a lucky lure esox v-2. $196. It looks soooooo good in the water. Never been bit. Almost got divorced again over that one.
  18. this is a viper minnow. It is covered with real cobra skin. As we know, cobras are a staple in the esox diet. I fell for it,$65. Never even been followed.
  19. a lot. I clear coated it with a spray bomb of clear enamel. But when i used it it got all sticky. I had to repaint it and clear coat it with epoxy.
  20. Not much going on this winter so i decided to try to make a bait. no work of art by any means although it works pretty good. I was shocked at how much i had to spend to make this. I will never again complain about the price of muskie baits. No one is getting rich making them.
  21. It's $12.50 for the replacement license. I see you get free theme plates with it as well. Lifetime fishing is $460. But in a few years i can get it for $65.
  22. Seeing good numbers of pike on "conesus lake fishing forum" on facebook. Wish they would release more but that's their call.
  23. I renew when i can't get on the pro only thread. Twenty bucks a year is nothing for what i get off this site.
  24. thanks. Looking at the map that's a lot of river. Any info on where there are too many muskies? Launch sites? Any info would be appreciated.
