  1. Not esox related but kinda neat... On june 7th a snapping turtle layed her eggs next to my pool like she does every year. Today they hatched and all went into my pool again. 3 trips to the canal to let them go. 42 so far.i want to get going on happy hour now so i made them their own pool
  2. Ever get bit on those bou blings? I have a couple and have done zip with 'em
  3. good page fishman
  4. Water temp:73,a little murky and green.caught a lot of small bass and two ok pike. Didn't see any muskies. Water level is real good. Should be no problem launching after the docks are out this year.
  5. On further review,it occurs to me i just bought that net over the winter and the odds of wearing it out and needing a new one in my lifetime are pretty slim. How bout you keep it and raise a few bucks for chap 69 or the baitfish fund with it?
  6. Wow i won something! Thank you. Now i just need to hook something.
  7. try fishing with the barbs of your hooks pinched down. most of the fish you net will get off the bait on their own in the net. safer for you and the fish.
  8. not really. Pike of any size jump all over 'em.
  9. the sign says "suckers" but they are small. 6 inches or so most of the time.
  10. i should go to this. Maybe i could break my 0 for 3 record?
  11. Nice fish. Thanks for the otisco updates
  12. I hooked a muskie on a bondy near clayton last year but lost it at the boat. The color was"burbot" . I caught a few pike on that one too. It's not the magic bait it appears to be in bondy's videos but they catch some fish. It's a good bait to work deep when you don't want to troll.
  13. Stayed in old forge for a week last year. Caught lots of pike in 1st and 2nd lake on a variety of baits. Caught some stout bass in the channel between old forge pond and 1st lake
  14. Way to go joe! In my book that's the hardest place to catch a muskie. Congrats
  15. Love pickerel. Always in the mood. If only they grew bigger.
  16. Jim saric has a video plug out for the shimano 400 d called "can your reel do that?" He talks it up then fires off a cast and let's it touch down without thumbing it. Reel stops on it's own. Then he says "can your reel do that?" Well,I have one of those so I went out and snapped on a perch bait and let fly. Half way through an epic bomb cast it hits my flagpole. I guess it was time to re-spool anyway.
  17. rented two cabins at west winds in Clayton last week. This photo is the dock area. Real protected and power at all docks. The 60 steps down to the docks is no problem. The 60 steps up are another story. Lots of family non fishermen around so bait fishing for whatever is the norm. After a couple days looking I keyed in on 25fow off blanket island for the amateurs. there was a never ending supply of 3 to 5lb small mouths there morning, noon.and evening. Worms, minnows, crabs;did not matter. Pike were tricky. Water is high and weeds low. Caught some decent ones casting jointed cranks in 15 to 20fow. As for musky I went out alone every night after the family fishing. Trouble with night fishing is passing on happy hour. Thursday night I hooked one on a perch bait near blank ant island. Got it at the boat and alone in the dark I blew the net job. Never did see her. Gas at the marina in Clayton is $5.05 but to be fair it is booze free 91 octaine.
  18. fishing the Larry around Clayton this week. Grandson got his first esox. Water temp is mid 70's. got here just in time for cold front.
  19. another pocket text, sorry. No wonder less people at work call me old man and are switching to "senile old tool"
  20. I think I pocket texted that. Sorry
