  1. larry jones is the leadcore musky expert. ask him at "mostly muskies" he has written a lot about leadcore trolling there.
  2. went back there today, not so hot. caught 4 pike from 7 to 12,nothing i needed a camera or net for. didn't see any muskies. one guy said he caught 6 bass and another guy said he got nuthin. water was 67 and a bit green on the east side.
  3. where do you put in there?
  4. wife wanted to see some leaves in the dacks this weekend so we loaded up the canoe and headed up. as usual i got blanked there but i did get a nice shot of this guy. still o for life at durant,'bout 8 tries now.
  5. that's a nice fish, too bad it's dead. i'd have released it but i didn't catch it. i guess if you catch it legally it's up to you what you do with it. if you don't fish muskies you don't know how rare a fish like that is. when i started chasing muskie i couldn't wait for my "one for the wall" as they used to say. when i finally got one in my boat i knew right then i could never kill such an awesome animal. we need a 60" limit throughout the muskie's range to ensure the future of the species.
  6. i fill my tank for the winter and add some stabill. in the spring i suck it out and put it in my truck and my lawnmower cans.
  7. i got zip on the edges today. they were in tight. and i got nothin around the launch, which is my usual go to spot there. blades have been good to me there;brown maribou and gold blades for me.
  8. i was there last week from tues thru fri. fished sunup to sundown and never saw anything. i got out for a couple hours sat. before checkout and had one on for a couple seconds off lighthouse point. water was pea soup tuesday, but looking better as i was leaving.
  9. started on the west side around 7am. caught a bass and had a couple follows. bout 8:30 it got cloudy and the wind picked up pretty good. game on! the pike went nuts. i was getting bit or followed every 3 or 4 casts for a little over an hour. i lost count, must have boated ten anyway and lost or missed twice as many. couple of 'em were upper 30's shovelheads. around 9:30 or 10 it slowed down, but i was still getting bit every 20 minutes or so. all the fish were in the weeds in 3 to 6fow. iwas plowing a big spinnerbait through the veggies. i caught this tiger the same way in 4fow. this is where i caught it. while i was loading up the dec showed up with 2 truckloads of 10 inch tigers. they said they had 9300 of 'em. not all of our tax money gets wasted!
  10. yeah, any day you see an eagle is a good one. they give me goosebumps. they're showing up more and more all the time. i saw one at sodus this year. last winter i saw one standing on the ice at the widewaters.
  11. nice one, fisherman! i didn't know there were pike there. might have to take my canoe there one of these days. get yourself a yankees hat and you'll have a fine photo.
  12. saw two eagles at dewittville bay wednesday, here's one of them. didn't see any muskies.
  13. and git rid of that boga. get your hand in there and bleed a little;better pics.
  14. can't find em,keyword?
  15. nice one. i used to fish for pike and gar there when i was younger. now it's too long a walk from the ramp to the parking lot for me. not to mention uphill.
  16. i've seen a lot of this all over. no idea why they do it,but they never eat. i just call it taunting.
  17. got paid to fish yesterday. two young guys from work and i had to go to a meeting in ogdensburg so i took the boat and told 'em i'd take 'em pike fishing after the work stuff. we got to eel bay around 1pm and started casting. i gave 'em both a nickle redeye and i washed a bunch of my muskie baits. we caught 13 pike by 5pm and lost just as many. i only caught two of 'em. half of 'em were dinks, the rest were decent,up to 10 lbs or so. one of the youts lost a real nice one at the boat when it overpowered his zebco 303 and his 8lb mono got on the prop. the bigger fish were all caught at the dropoff into the river. when we'd get into the bay more we were getting all the dinks. i was hot to fish til dark but the other guys felt the need to get back to the wives, one of whom is pregnant,so we quit at dinner time. they'll probly be married longer than i usually am.
  18. ditto what kevin said. lots of pike in chippewa bay, muskies, not so much
  19. fished 6am til 1pm yesterday. water was 72 to 74. caught 4 pike, nothin over 30". had a half dozen follows, didn't see a big pike or any tigers. kinda windy. caught 3 of 'em casting on brown/brass hairbaits and one tolling the propwash on a perch pattern zach bait.
  20. tried taking the son in law's dogs out the other day. lab was all for it,coon hound, not so much.
  21. i swore off this lake cause it's too small and too crowded. having said that if you' er after your first go out the canal to 7 fow and throw whatever as you work to your left in 7 to 10 fow. sooner or later you will score. it will be 35 to 38 inches long unless your name is zach.
  22. got a week vacation near alex bay last week. i don't fish for musky much on these trips as a lot of relatives visit and they expect to catch something. i take em pike fishing early and late and fish for bass during the day. caught a lot of pike during low light times, nothing over 10 lbs. good numbers, though. bass,on the other hand were on fire. any water over 20 ft any time of day. minnows, crabs, worms, didn't matter as long as it was meat. about every 10 smallies someone would get a 5lber. keeping the bait about 2 feet off bottom seemed to keep the gobies to a minimum. ran into this "boat"at kewaydin. has 2 apache helecopter jet turbines. guy says it goes over 200. i'll pass. on friday nobody wanted to get up so i ran to carlton island to troll for musky. 'bout 9am wife calls to say there is a severe weather alert. i said thanks for the tip but in my world that means fish are gonna eat. wrong. it rained like i have never seen. i couldn't see 50 feet from the boat and it lasted over an hour! i did'nt dare keep moving, just shut it off and sat there. later i learned they got 4 inches of rain in under 2 hours. that's wet! we stayed accross the river from the coast gaurd base. they were pullin people over like it was their job. saw them tow about 6 boats in. better have your gear in order there i guess.
  23. cayuga, from the state launch. you can whack 50 pickeral and a few pike there most summer days.
  24. i'm ready for an auction. work is killin me;i haven't been fishin in over a month. might as well buy some baits.
  25. got to conesus for a few hours before work fri. caught a bunch of bass early. one of 'em was a pig. the pike showed up around 9am. i boated two before i had to leave for work. this one was mid 30's and wide, but hadn't eaten in awhile. i caught everything within sight of the launch. burned about a pint of gas.
