get over to eel bay at first and last light for all the pike you can stand. fish the patches of taller weeds around the islands. for bigger pike work the north side of wellesy in any of the nooks and crannys. any bait will work there at that time of year. if you have kids with you use bass minnows at the north edge of the bay for a nice mix of pike and bass. you can also go through the rift(be careful) into lake of the isles. lots of bucketmouths in there. or go out of the lake around the point to your right towards the castle. you can hammer mid size pike north of the castle,plus you can get coffee there and your wife can use the bathroom.

i just spent a week on cayuga lake. i caught about 50 pickles before i gave up and went trout fishin. got a few lakers(yuk)thurs and friday.

it swam into the vents of my minow bucket. i'll be dead before it's legal.

i did get it cut. i didn't get rained on til the charlie daniels concert. a note on the cowbells;i can't say if they helped attract fish because it's all new to me. what i can say is they let you know when you hang a weed. i've made some blades for my red october stuff and bulldawgs out of worn out bucktails. i won't get to try em til august,though. my latest wife of 7 months rented us a place on cayuga lake for next week. god bless her,but cayuga ain't on the list! i'll get her trained.

i just let it sink to the bottom,reel in a couple feet,and jig it while moving with the trolling motor. it's the 11" model. both fish hit it hard. the one i caught was a fun one,two jumps. it was hooked good enough to land and then the bait fell off in the net. can't beat that. i had it out of the water maybe 30 seconds and it took off instantly. the barbs are cut off that too,so much easier to release. i'm pretty exited to hit a couple on the plastic stuff. i casted the usual hair baits from 5 to 7 with no results.

went to the st. lawrence sat after work. got there just in time for a severe thunderstorm. sunday i jigged big plastics all day around clayton,carelton and round island. nothin. wife had 4 dozen bass minnows and used em all. caught a bunch of perch,some bass,a walleye and two pike. today i fished waneta. i caught this one around 7:30 in the south end in 19fow. a half hour later i hooked a similar fish but i knocked it off with the net. at 10am i figured i would quit while i was ahead and go mow the lawn. both fish ate this musky innovations jimmy;the cowbells are my addition.

woman in a kayak story rings a bell. last time i slept in the boat was 9/11. guy pulls up and wakes me;tells me about all the crap in new york city. i went back to the truck and turned on the radio. went home and parked my butt in front of the tv. i had two boys in the service then.9/11,NEVER FORGET!

wow,nice fish! i have to laugh at the word"finally",though. i've been stuck at48" for 3 decades.

i do have a tackle box and my basement looks like crash's landing. i never use anything other than a bucktail or spinnerbait until after about 4 hours of casting with no fish. it's a catch-22;i only use the other baits when they're not biting so i never get any on the other baits. i have blown a small fortune looking for a better mousetrap. nowdays i just try to put the cheese where the mice are. check out my new toy. i put a window in my kayak. the grandkids love it.

i sent a shimano reel to their repair center in ca. i got it back in 12 days,including the july 4th holiday. not too shabby.

a 35"er from chataqua,casting around mayville.same bait,different day. too d..m hot.had to bail around 11am.

nice one. you need to get a set of jaw spreaders. they're about 3 bucks but worth a lot more when you need them.

31 in under 3 weeks! Wow! I've had a couple decades with fewer muskies. I gotta buy some more equipment.

back when i only fished for pike i had a couple nickle redeyes,a johnson minnow and a rapala. didn't need a tackle box.
