Measure the distance between the inside rim lip and the inside mounting surface. Check the clearance you have now under your fenders, you may have room for a slightly different rim off-set. John

Your 16.5" rims will not fit 16" tires. The RIB is the tread type. If the trailer is in really good condition and the 16.5" tires are becoming a PITA to find on the shelf, I would think about 16" rims with the same bolt pattern and off-set as your 16.5" rims. "E" rated tires are about all you want to afford($$$), to pull a boat. They are 10ply tires... John

We have a Lowrance LC X-17M for sale, the sonar and display work great, the GPS antenna is suspected to be bad. Everything worked great until taking the boat out of the shop with the GPS antenna still up. It slammed the hardtop, the display now has a GPS error pop-up. See photos. Didn't use it much, as we upgraded to a HDS color sonar. $ 200.00 includes transducer, cabling, cover and GPS antenna ( in case it's just torn wires). We are in Hammondsport, NY. We have Digi II's, but the IV's are nice but $$$,for what I use them for, the II's are fine. Your right about the adjustable booms, Cannon would have been better off with aluminum collets instead of the plastic ones. Our current setup is 5' on the corners and 4' out the back, all fixed booms. The 5' gives us a wider spread and the 4' clears the platform. Swinging the riggers even with transom and gunwales when towing for long distances. I leave them straight out the back on my usual 6 block trip to the ramp. Those who have switched to Scotty's or Big Jon from Cannon's, do you like the tip up feature better then the swinging when your resetting? This forum and the internet should give anyone looking to upgrade the differences between the big 3. Personally, I would be happy with any of them, I stuck with Cannon, because I have the swivels mounts already, I'm used to using them and the units I have now are 15+ years old and still going. John

The Cannon's Digi's give me auto up and return with one push of the button, so for me it seems to work, close the release, push the button and walk away. Not near as fast as the Scotty's or HS units. I like to think of it as "not fast", slow has that old & tired ring to it... John

In the late 70's Penn Yan had Chrysler's, but the Pro Hunter is a more recent model. I only know of GM Mercruisers in the Pro's. Penn Yan also used Ford's in the 80's. I would contact TJ at Penn Yan Boats to get the definitive answer. http://www.pennyanboats.com/ John

Look up Bobber's Fishing Excursions ( Tommy Beers) His boat is out of Brian's marina in Hammondsport. Go out with him, catch some fish, learn what to use and enjoy the lake. http://www.bobbersfishnex.com/ Another source is go down to the Hammondsport Town dock when the boats come in and see who using what and if their catching fish. You could make up a Seth Green Rig if you have a med/hvy or heavy roller tip rod with a 47LC or Penn 309, etc... reel. perch predator setup would be a good way to get a few in the boat with what you have now. But I think you should go out on a charter to really experience trolling the Finger Lakes, You could even go over to Seneca Lake ( 20 minutes East) and grab a charter there for a day. John

I too just went down the same path. I have 3 older Mag10's and one Digi II and wanted to upgrade. Looked at Scotty's and Big Jon's, and finally came back to Cannon and at one point thought I wanted the new HS units, but heard that fast is not especially good when going down. I just purchased a pair of Digi II's, so I have 3 now and looking for one more. What I really wanted is a unit that will be there all day long without issue. The Mag 10's are 15+ years old, so needless to say they owe the boat nothing. I also thought the tip up feature would be nice, but I'm so used to swiveling the Cannons to the side that I didn't see an advantage to the tip ups. The manual down on the Scotty's doesn't help when your busy. My 2 cents, John

Can you adjust the bunks higher? If not I would recommend the following. You need very sturdy guides for the back of the trailer ( sides) . This will allow the boat to be centered on the trailer even though it's floating. Crank down on the bow eye just enough to hold it close to where it needs to be, but not too, tight because as you pull it out of the water it will pivot slightly and may cause high stress on the bow eye. After getting getting it out of the water, finish cranking the last inch or so and you're done. The bunk slicks seem to work well, I don't have them, but know someone who does. Like everyone is saying, there is a depth at which it all works, if your boat is like ours on a windy day its fun to load. Otherwise one person can do it. If the boat is what you want, make the trailer work for you. John

Isn't there an anchor locker on the fore deck? Anything in it? Anything forward of the bulkhead will likely put you bow down without counter balance in the stern. The boot stripe runs about 8" above the actual waterline on the bow of our fully loaded 225, so I would imagine your stripe would be a good gauge. You don't have a forward bilge, but there is drains all the way back from the v-berth. John

I'm looking at a pair of Digi IV's to upgrade my older Mag10's and wanted to know from those who have used the IV's, the good and bad of having them. We fish with 4 DR's and I'm currently the only one on the boat who can set them up, net fish, etc... so having a DR that can return to the same depth with a push of a button can come in real handy at times. I understand the IV's can track the bottom with an optional transducer? Master / slave feature, so if I have the one IV with a transducer the other linked units will follow the commands of the master? One function I could see that coming into play, is when we have a bottom coming up quickly and the monkey is asleep at the switch. I have one Digi II, that the auto-up key just froze-up on, and Cannon just sent me the maunal for it to set-up the memory functions, go figure... Anyone have a good Digi II keypad they are willing to part with? Thanks, John

We use 24 ounces tied to a 24" 30lb mono leader off the bottom of the 50lb Power Pro main line. Sutton spoons, never heard of them... You won't need anything else if you bring a few new Sutton's. John

Do the DR's that stopped working on the port side, work on the starboard side? If not, reset the breakers. If they work, I'm with everyone else trace the problem on the port side all the way back to the battery, you will find a gremlin somewhere. John
