I don't even hate to tell you this but I highly doubt that is the same buck. Both of those are 1 1/2's and the one from last year is a good looking young buck where most would be a straight up spike in "bad" areas he has a decent 2 on the one side which means he most likely has the potential. Any area can grow good bucks some are better this is true but any area can do it with age. Be patient and let the little guys grow. As almost anyone will tell you it is very tough to distinguish 1 /12's and 2 1/2's as they mature they can really change year to year. Once they hit 3 you can typically start to see similar characteristics from year to year.

Thanks man, I have notice when i paddle in a bit like 65-70' I hit bottom quick so it seems like they are getting down good. I'm going to go look at a copper rig and maybe think about adding that to the tool box I'm having a blast learning that's for sure I think that can be the best part. My buddy and I are starting to get the jigging down I did finally land my first laker sunday and had a couple short strikes and lost a couple.

http://www.blwc.com/how-to-troll-with-a ... el-rig.htm There are lots of sites that show this technique to get 45-60 down witha 2oz weight and I have seen 3 oz. to get even lower, maybe not but that was what I thought.
-
Probably why I'm not catching them on the bottom. Thanks for the info guys, maybe I aughta try leadcore, not sure dipsy's will work to good out of a yak

Well I know when I let it out it is for sure down that deep and moving at the speed I am with the angle of the line I can't beleive it is getting that much lift. I'm running 10-12lb line with 4-6lb leaders. I will run longer leaders to see if tat helps. I have been reading up on this technique or the 3way swivel with 2-3 oz's of weight technique and everything says it should easily get me down slow trolling maybe not I was just going off what it appears and what I had read. i want to try dipsies I just don't know how they are rigged yet, still trying to learn at some point I need to go out with someone that knows what they are doing. I grew up trolling for brookies with wabblers and crawlers or streamers but mostly flatlining it.

1-3oz or 1-2oz they are molded like a shad, white in color, swivel on each end. letting out enough to get to bottom and then some at the troll starts I can see the bait on finder so I know its getting down, I should mention I'm trolling from either my Kayak or Canoe so speed isn't hard to keep down or vary

I have been attempting to catch lakers and brown trolling with inline wegiht setups and sutton spoons. Anyone have any advice for setting these up that may help me to land my first fish? I have been running a 2-3oz shade inline with 3-4' leader behind attached to my spoons. I'm trolling in 70-80' and seem to be right on the bottom and up but haven't had a strike yet. I have trolled as slow as possible, and sped things up to change the speed and action. I'm new to trolling in the FL's so maybe I'm not doing it right. Any advice would be great.

After seeing your success on Keuka a buddy and I headed to Canadice and gave jigging a try. Like you I got 3-4 good hooksets and had the fish come off shortly after wa wa waaaaaaa but right before we were packing it up for the day, bam I got a strike and landed my first laker! And out of the kayak made it even better now I want to bring a monster up form the deep! I got to get some jigging spoons to try.

Thanks for the info gang I'm going to give it a whirl agian tomorrow AM we shall see what happens

I would almost be money he is and with that much gear in may 18-20" spread he will for sure be 8+ points. Good luck
-
Definetly has lots of character but you can tell he is only a young buck in the 2 1/2 year range, potential to be a stud in a couple years. Based on the frame he will have lots of character points but my guess is he won't score super high at most in the 100 range he doesen't look to have much for mass at the bases or on the beams and not very wide maybe 12-14" tops. Good luck if you decide to go after him

Now that's awesome, I have been trying for a couple weeks to no avail on Canadice. What were you tipping the jig heads with? I was using 4" mister tisters maybe I need something else.

Pitch Gitzits and try different presentations and colors. draggin the bottom or jigging them up and letting them drop, always deadly in the chain
-
Thanks for the info I appreciate it, I'm new to the crappie game and still trying to learn. caught 30+ the other day but all small under 8" on jig nad fatheads or gold hook and fatheads under a slip bobber setup like yours. Guess its just a matter of havinghte bigger fish active.

What were they hitting? Jig and fathead? What color if you don't mind me asking

Nice pics and you couldn't have said it better
