Frisco my point is, how can one state mandate a law like this, while neighboring states don't even require a helmet while riding a motorcycles 70 mph down the highway? To me the point I'm making here is that our NY Gov't these days would rather pass laws that protect you from your own choices, than balance their budget!! I feel as if I need my Gov't to handle real Govt. issues, not take away my right to have a choice about a judgement call. Should there be laws to protect children...of course. Should there be laws to protect me from my self...NO I don't feel so. Fact here is that the NY gov't these days is ridiculous and it saddens me to watch the direction they are heading. Here's some numbers I found posted on the web "In New York state, there were 21 boating fatalities in 2008, of which five occurred in cold-water conditions". In 2007 there was 1333 auto fatalitites in NY State. Maybe the state should lower speed limits? TD

Tell yah what second chance if they check me in this rig for a life jacket and some how write me a ticket, they better be ready for a ear full!!!! This law is meant for the people who go out in a 12' rin tin tin in bad weather and die for there own stupid decisions. Not trying to start a heated post here but this state is ridiculous. Another example is the NY hand gun permits. When I was in Oklahoma if you were 21 years or older you walked in a gun shop and said I'll take that one done deal. Ny you have to give your 2nd born kid away to attain one. Fact is this state is sadly going in a direction that is for the worse.

Jonp, it is a 1989 trophy 2159 I realize that the law only implies Nov 1st thru May 1st but I fish through some of those months.

I just picked up a 21' trophy hardtop today. So now I should not have to wear a pfd!! It's a shame that the gov't forced me to have to upgrade to a bigger boat. Can't wait to try it out on some fish. Half the fun of a different boat is rigging it to your likeing. Here's a pic of the new to me vessel...

I have a Ithaca Rifled Cantilever scope barrel that fits a Remington 870 forsale. These barrel were only available through Ithaca arms for a couple years. They out perform the remington and hastings barrels because they are 24" long the others are only 21". Longer barrel equalls more accuracy and faster velocities. This barrel was very accurate on my gun. Selling because new laws allow me to use a rifle. This has a Matte finish and allows for 2 3/4 or 3" shells, In great shape. Looking to get $170 OBO.

I also would like to second Snyder on this, the new PFD law sucks. But maybe I am so stupid that the Gov't needs to protect me from myself?? Any way on a good note I'll just be forced to get a 22' boat!! TD

I am going out Saturday in the AM, probably launch out of Watkins and head north. I also will have 68 on the ears if any one else is out... Last trip out on the water for me for a while then its a business trip off to CHINA of all places. Wonder if there any charters I can get on over there? Lead weights out to be cheap seems like lead is in every thing they make TD

OK just got my requested derby form in the mail here'a what is says...North End weigh station INN ON THE LAKE south end weigh station FIELDS CONSTRUCTION RT. 21 Woodville, NY. LAKERS $1000 1st, $500 2nd, $ 300 3rd, $150 4th, $50 5th, Heaviest Rainbow $100, Heaviest Brown $100 Fishing hours 5am till 7 pm June 6th. 5am till 4pm June 7th. Who all is fishing this derby? I'll be on station 68 TD

Any one got any more info on this? I callled the chamber of commerce today and the lady on the phone was not helpfull. I would like to know where to sign up, I know you can on-line? Anywhere local? What are the classes kids, women ect... Lakers, Browns, LL, rainbows?? Payouts?? Where do weigh in?? There website says all rules posted at weigh station where the he** is the weigh station located. I really want to fish this derby but man they are stingy with posting the details Any one able to help me out?? Thanks in Advance TD

All in all had a great time on the water. Caught A LOT of lakers over the course of the weekend. 8 to 16 fish a day. Can't complain about that with a 8.4 being the largest. Had a good time listening to the radio and communicating with some of you. It's a new addition to my vessel glad I got it. Going to hit Canandauiga derby here in less than 2 weeks trailering up both days. Hope to talk to some of yah during that as well. TD

My 2 cents...I have a pretty light aluminum deep v. Walk thru windsheild Blue fin. I have a 8hp fourstroke and love it. No prob getting down to speed and good for when the winds pick up if needed. It will push the boat around 7mph if needed. Works great for me TD

First off let me say Thanks for your Service to this Counrty! I can remember the first time getting off the Jet returning back in the US from being over in the middle east....What a wonder feeling it was to be back "HOME" Most people that have never spent time in a foreign Country don't really appreciate the freedoms they have here in the USA. Ok, lets start hearing everyones plans....I am camping at Sampson state park for the weekend, and have a slip. Fishing out of a Blue Fin boat white with blue stripes going down it. Not sure what vhf channel I will be on. Probably wait and see what channel some of you here will be on...I am getting excited about it 5 days off from work 3 days of derby fishin and no wife and kids around Man I Can't wait...

You can also Launch midway up the lake on both the east and west sides. Lodi state park on the East and Severne state launch on the West. If you launch there always had luck on the west side south of Severne launch. Green spinnies with green or mirage color flies. good starting depths are in the 60-80 foot range.
