Never needed one, but would like one too, now what are the chances of 2 of these being around.... Thanks Scott Sent from my SM-T280 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
I float it back a ways with a balloon tied to the line, pops of pretty easy when you reel in. There is a float made for that purpose, but I've been doing this balloon deal for 35years and it works for me
I agree lees is more, but think of this setup to explain less is more productive.
Keep 1 dipsy on each side with a spoon (2 lures)
2 riggers, now the less is more gets interesting. Each rigger has a flasher, 3-5 teasers and a meat rig. Lets assume 5 teasers, so each rigger now has a total 7 lures in the water.
Total that all up this 4 rod spread and you have 16 lures (yes not all are lures) in the water.
Compare that to a 8 rod spread with 1 lure each, just saying
I do run the above 4 rod deal quite often and it works
No dog.
Usually muzzle loader deer are dead pretty quick, with only one shot hunters are very patient with taking it.
On another note me and Reddog had a 30% recovery rate this year, that's about average. If you killed it we can usually find it, so yes most are not dead just wounded and later become yote food.
Reddog is getting older and we'll have to see how she is doing next year, this year a 2 hour hunt does her and me in pretty good
TC Omega, Nikon scope.. I think the biggest thing with any newer muzzleloader is the shot load itself. Try a lot until you find your load.
I use 250 grain Shockwave bullets with black BPH 24 sabots and 77 grains of Weighed blockhorn 209 with CCI shotgun primers.
I would honestly say my hunting partner (same gun) went through 25 different combinations before we settled on this load.
with the front floor at captains seat not elevated, I would rule out inboard, and with that said a IO in a 23' most likely will have a motor box "dog house" cover
I would strongly recommend using nothing but copper over lead. There are many articles on lead fragments in venison on line. If you can afford to hunt you surly can afford to spend more on the cost of a bullet, to protect your health and your family's health.
Here is another buck (below) we took from the same wood lot. We have been watching him grow for 4 years. My buddy Jim W got him last year 2017, archery, but I wanted to wait till he had the mount back before posting. He was in the last issue on NYS Conservation mag for those that get that. He won the drawing, mount and bow for being the biggest entered.
The pics were right side up on my PC, not sure how to flip em up.
No other injuries, We thought the same thing, as far as stress goes maybe from the rut as there are so many doe's he never rested for 2 weeks, lol
NO permits in this DMU
9X DMU area southern NY at PA border.
A friend shoots a nice 3.5 year old and both antlers fall off before it hits the ground. That's pretty early, watch out taking a big doe, it just might have balls!
Buffalo NY Small boat harbor, now Safe Harbor Marina launch is not all bad......wait, yeah, mostly it is, but one good thing is where the launch is compared to old. I do like that better.
