  1. Im thinking the torpedo may add extra pulling power by bending the fin, thus moving the board further forward. In turn you may be able to run shorter leads, which would be a big help in spring derby times
  2. OK I'm going to date myself, remember the ESLO spring derby days when the water was no where as clear as it is today. The fish would stay close all day long for the temps. The 4 days of the spring derby had every boat inside 50' with boards to the shore, me included, made for some quick actions, but as said it was fun!
  3. they "snap" on the line any length behind the bait you want, think of setting a line on a rigger but with a dipsy. When they trip just like a dipsy they slide down to your leader swivel. Not sure on wire, never used on their
  4. crazy when they they will hit. It sounds to me that the lure was going very very slow because you were letting it out on the board.
  5. what about the couple I see in the background?
  6. I do have holes in the bottom w lead and yes the pull prety good, was just thinking of a lillte extra, you know how we get.... Lol

that's funny!! I think there staying the week end
  9. I have some 30 year old homemade double wood boards, work great actually. I was getting things ready yesterday thinking about how they could be improved without buying new ones like otter bds with a keel. How about taking a 8oz torpedo weight and hanging it off the inside board, or trial and error to find a right balance point. I believe it would help control jumping in heavy water and maybe even cause the board to pull harder. I thinking of a 2' lead to make sure it would never come out of the water, thoughts?? Scott
  10. For what it's worth I'm with my second "mutt" both from rescues and like yours work their tails off. I do however feel deer search is a great club for bringing KIDS into what we all love on this forum. Too many kids are not being introduced to the outdoors today. I get so much enjoyment out of finding a deer for a first year hunter that keeps me coming back for more and educating them along the trail. Scott
  11. Deer search is a non profit, with our donations going to kids to get them interested in hunting and fishing. I too am DEC licensed. My avatar is my tracking dog, very good mutt at it too.
  12. Cant beat a pointer for grouse, problem is they are (grouse) so few a far between in WNY. Great pic!
  13. I see a couple guys use dogs to find dead deer, you should join Deer Search, then you can do it legally during hunting season
  14. What ever net you get put a clip on the handle to hold the net tight to the handle, then the weight of the fish releases it. Helps to get the fish IN the net
