  1. 10/9/14.   Preparing to get it winterized and stored for the winter-may or may not be reposted in the spring.

I purchased this boat in 2011 it had sat inside a garage for 5 years and had a 2 stroke Yamaha on it.  The previous owner had re-done the interior including new floor.  Has four swivel seats so it is set up now like a Great Lakes Special.  I purchased the 2003 Mercury 4-stroke from Bow and Stern in North Tonawanda NY in 2011 used and they re-did the transom at that time.  So the key issues on an old boat--floor, transom, interior and motor have all been done.  I have probably put a total of about 150 hours on it in the four seasons I have had it.   This boat is very fuel efficient. Was on Lake Ontario for four days last weekend and runs great.  Boat does not leak.  Have towed this with a 4 cyl S10 with no issues down the Thruway.

In 2012, I had a new high fishing top, cockpit cover, and bow cover done.  I have also installed LED taillights on the trailer.  Will come with VHF and an old depthfinder which still works fine.

I am asking $6700.00 or best offer.  Like I said the main items have been addressed.

Will take any additional pictures you would like.  Reason for sale is purchase of a classic car.

  2. I have never run any weight over 10 lbs for the most part.  I have owned Starcrafts, a Sylvan and now a Sea Nymph and with the rigger run at 90 degrees out(straight out from the gunnel) all of the aluminum boats I have owned have had some flex but they all had aluminum going across the front of the transom well, not like the fish-n-ski-boats now which are almost open to the transom.  I also think that Lund also has the narrow gunnel on the top so you may have to do some reinforcement.  I know there is probably foam under it but a backer board or plate is an option to spread the stress out from just the rigger mount.

  3. That was the good thing about Johnsons during the time OMC was headed to bankruptcy, the Johnsons were the line that didn't get the high end stuff that caused major engine failure and fires on Evinrudes.

  4. Some people spend thousands on golf, skiing, going to pro-sporting events etc.  If I had to base it on cost, I would have been out of it along time ago.  I think of all the memories instead and when the end comes, I won't be thinking of all the work or worry that was part of my career that made it all happen, I will be thinking of the boats I owned and the fishing opportunities I had.

  5. start looking on Craigslist, Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse. For example there is a Blue Fin Royal line on Buffalo craigslist with an old Chrysler, ditch the motor and you have a functioning boat.  The Royal Line Blue Fins from the mid 80's are a lot like the Sea Nymphs from the era(which I have)-good boats.

Having a motor available opens up many options.

  6. Had an 05 Trailblazer, loved to eat up brakes, mileage was not that great and when I totaled all the repairs and was about to embark on more, I sold it.  All the full size pick-ups are good choices, the Ford Explorer-the older version etc.  To get better gas mileage and still have the ability to pull something(tow rating 4500 lbs I believe) the Chevy Traverse, GMC Acadia, Buick Enclave, and Saturn Outlook might be worth looking at.  Those vehicles essential replaced the Trailblazer and Trailblazer EXT with something that was car based with better mileage.

  7. Sold 7/3/14

Purchase as boat hauler or fix up as a Sat night cruise in vehicle.

This is a stepside base truck. Automatic and 4.3 V6. No air, no cruise, no power door locks or windows. Dark glass, aftermarket AM-FM CD, bed liner. Has heavy rust to rocker panels and also some damage behind drivers door. So needs some body work but low mileage. Use it as a pickup or get it ready as a cruise-in vehicle. Has not been driven last two winters. I purchased from the estate of a 90 year old in February 2013 with 65,000 miles on it. Have a lot of the service records prior to my ownership going back to 2008.   The Chevrolet records from day one.  New fuel pump September of 2013, new battery, tires have 10,000 miles on them.

Have a set of Chevrolet chrome rims and tires that could be part of any price discussion.
    $4100.00 or reasonable offer.

Located in Dunkirk NY.  I purchased as boat hauler and also to restore as a cruise in type vehicle

    Plans have changed.

  8. Marinas and boat dealers come and go.  I have been in the boat game now for 40 years and have had experience with just about every marine operation within 50 miles of my home.  Have had good experiences and bad.  I can say in the past six or seven years I have had for the most part good experience with a couple long term marine/marina operations here in WNY.

It is a short season and this year with a long deep winter, not much of a spring and now into the first week of June some are just getting their boats in the water.  So I understand the stress it puts on the marina operator and the stress on the customer for wanting the boat done and in the water.

  9. Putting this out there because you never know who might be looking for a used car with lower miles on it.

2007 Ford Taurus SE, 64000 miles, everything works except window on the rear door on drivers side.  Purchased from West Herr in Nov 2013 with 56,000 miles, used as a commuter vehicle(50 miles per day) through this brutal winter, no problems.  Replaced coil ignition, new spark plugs and wires. Interior excellent, outside a few scratches etc.
    Will listen to reasonable offers.

  10. If you originally had oil in the water, replaced seals and put new oil in, it appears you would have to put it back in to see if it solved the issue.  I would run it a short time and see what happens.  Be sure to check the o-rings on the fill and drain screws, because sometimes that can cause an issue.  And if this doesn't work, you will need to have someone pressure test it.

  11. It would be helpful when posts are made like this(and this is not the first one like it on this and other sites) where the poster would say I live in this area and I am willing to travel this many miles or this far to look at a boat.  That being said, the craigslist in your immediate area would be the place to start the search.
