  1. the trim gauge is not necessary-it can easily be accomplished by the boat operator being aware of what is going on. My outboard boat did not even come with one from the factory.
  2. price reduced on 9/30/10 to $495.00
  3. I had the old Sylvan Offshore 22 and ran that for 8 years, hull was a little shallower but I would guess it weighed in the same range as the 19 Islander. Also had the 3 liter.. On a good day it might have gotten 32 mph wide open so you are not that far off. Out of curiosity I would check that foam to see if it is in fact soaked which I would doubt on a 5 year old boat....Having had my first boat now with the fin, I would try that and you might pick up and extra mile or two on the top end. I believe you are close to the end in terms of top end range, that boat is not going to do 35 mph.
  4. I would start looking on Craigslist, based on where you are located there are some trailers out there both new and used.
  5. SOLD pending payment of balance 10/2/10 14 Lowe Line, very heavy construction. Needs minor transom repair, have materials to make easy fix. Well constructed homemade trailer-needs new winch and bow stop-which I have and will hand to the new owner-Will eventually need new coupler. $550.00 or best offer-located in Dunkirk, NY which is west of Buffalo. Selling because I just purchased a project boat.
  6. try this http://buffalo.craigslist.org/boa/1928684998.html
  7. I owned a 22 sylvan for 8 years, I have fished out of the Islander as well and currently own a smaller Starcraft. I would rate the Crestliner and Lund ahead of the Starcraft and Sylvan simply because they are a heavier aluminum boat and that translates into a better ride. There are also some 22 Sea Nymphs and 22 Princecrafts out there as well. If you are looking for a used boat, this is the year to do it. Lots of boats for sale.
  8. With the second latest state budget passed this week and nobody being happy about it, and the fiasco that occurred in the State Senate last year and also another bloated budget, all of our Assembly reps and State Senators are up for election this fall. It is up to us to do our homework and find out who is running to represent us. Not every rep is bad, we just need new faces in office that can listen to us. A bloated medicaid program should have been cut to at least get it in line with our neighboring states and would free up money to get to the programs we are interested in. Do you research and make sure YOU VOTE IN NOVEMBER.
  9. Fished this tournament this weekend as well. Walleyes starting in 70 feet and out starting straight out of Dunkirk Harbor and west. Mixed in were brown trout, steelhead and we boated a 12 lb laker. Steady action, no where near the level of the late 80's on Lake Erie but it is good to see the mixed bag. Lots of small walleye out there as well, so there holds great promise for the next couple years.

    Boat Weight

You need to add gear etc as an additional weight and some extra pounds if it is a cuddy or what engine it has in it so I would use 3500 lbs as a working number.
  11. Albemarle at Arneys Marina Boston Whaler at Surf-n-Turf Erie. you might also want to check Happy Days in Ohio for all of the high line boats you mentioned.
  12. The 470 was Mercruisers response in the mid 70's to the thought that they were not going to have access to automotive engine blocks in the future. It also appeared as the 485. Had the closed cooling to prevent issues from the mix of different alloys when used in salt water. The above post is correct, because it was a Mercruiser design some parts are only available through Mercruiser and as the years go on, parts become less available.
  13. I would take a roller trailer over a bunk trailer any time, wouldn't matter what size the boat is-unless you are launching every day at a decent boat ramp.
  14. I would agree that it sounds like a prop hub issue.
  15. The standard transom height for years on most aluminum boats in the 17-19 range has been 20 inches. And there are many Lunds in service across the Great Lakes and some 17's with 150 hp on it. As long as there is some type of splash well, this should not be a problem.
  16. By the late 80's the marine division of Chrysler has a shell of what it was in the 70's, boat line gone, Chrysler outboards sold to Bayliner/US Marine and not really active in the inboard market if at all.
  17. I regularly fish on a 23 Grady Gulfstream(the wide body model) with a covered t-top and a 9.9 Mariner 4 stroke pushes it around Lake Erie with no problem so while a high thrust would be nice, it is not necessary.
  18. Tough item to find this time of year used, although with the economy you never know. I would check places like Craiglist and move quickly when one appears.
  19. A couple days of warm weather, no wind and a flat lake have pushed the lake temp to about 70 as of today and the pack of boats is out front in pursuit of perch. The bass fishing has finally turned on as well. This is Dunkirk that I am posting about.
  20. Our inept legislators and the governor have managed to open all the parks for the summer, the flip side of this is more fees assessed to various high tech businesses to help pay for it. The legislation was passed late yesterday/early today.
  21. Still for sale TTT
  22. I had a 22 Sylvan and ran four riggers for years with no problems. Also had a 1/2 platform off the back and a kicker on a bracket.
  23. In todays fishing column in the Dunkirk Observer-there are no reports of perch catches.
