Two issues here. First the trailer is too short for the boat, particularly with that outboard hanging out back. Tongue weight being inadequate for the carried load is the first potential cause of trailer sway. If you don't believe me, look it up on line but I am sure someone else will jump in on this. Your description of sometimes it is fine than it suddenly appears is the classic comment on this issue. It is a safety issue!

I had a construction grade rainsuit that I purchased years ago at a construction supply outlet. Lasted 25 years and did the job well for the money spent. had a lot of vents so it wasn't like throwing a tarp on. Have tried to find another but to no avail so have made do in the meantime. Gortex suits and the like are expensive and I am told worth it, sometimes you can find those at an off season price somewhere.

Sold 10/23/19 Location: Dunkirk, NY 1984 Mercury 75hp outboard, no power trim and tilt. 4 cylinder. I bought this last year from a repair shop near me for a project but I have decided to go in a different direction. This was kept inside for a number of years and was part of the owners own collection for a project that never happened( along with a Glasspar G-3 and other things.) It will fire on the wiring harness that came with it. I also bought a set of controls for it over the winter. It looks good in the pictures because it was stored inside for years. Remember this is a 35 year old motor though......…...... $950.00 or best offer with the controls. -
Check the trim tab above the prop on the new lower unit and make sure it is straight and not adjusted left or right. It is the triangle looking piece.

Any old holes drilled into the transom, any current things like transducers attached to the transom? Check those. Check the hose and connections to the livewell. Have to rule other things out before you focus on hull rivets.
-
If its badly oxidized or faded probably nothing will help. If it is not too badly faded try waxing a section and see if that improves things.

Unlike two years ago, Lake Erie is at or near record highs as are some of the others. The Western Southern Tier has received heavy rain the past few days as well.

It is deeper in the water then when you had it in the water with no floor. I think you are heading in the right direction with filling the transom holes.

Dry Net: You should not be adding grease every time you put the boat in -that just puts addition pressure on the inner seal causing grease to leak out and seal failure which means water comes in. If you jack up the trailer and the wheels spin quiet you have no bearing issues. Any type of roar, that signifies an issue.
-
Not saying that theft doesn't happen but bearing failure will heat that entire hub and that could have dislodged everything. Bearing buddies will not protect against inner seals failing if too much grease is added. Inner seal fails, inner bearing gets rusted. Outer bearings partially protected by the bearing buddy in that scenario.

Oak Orchard, mouth of the creek up to the Parkway bridge-I know you can be successful in that area-I am sure you could go farther up too. -

2nd wettest spring in the last 40 years in WNY.

Same tactics will work for early season walleye on Lake Erie and any of the far eastern areas are the areas to try it. Also if you are not aware of it, Lake Erie has probably some of the best bass fishing in the country, so if you want to try that with them that may be worth the try also. Bass fisherman from all over the east have already started to converge on Dunkirk for the spring trophy season.

for sale: can Any Starcraft Islander OB for sale?
MCF replied to Choker87's topic in Classifieds - Buy, Sell, Trade or Rent
Difficult to find, not saying impossible but the outboard versions of the Starcraft, Sylvan and Smokercraft were far less sold than the I/O counterpart. Becomes more apparent as time goes on because the Sylvan and Smokercraft ended production in 2003. More Crestliners were sold. And there were Lunds and Sea Nymphs built as well. Need to search and when you find one that you want, you need to move on it.
