One week reminder. June 19 is the second scheduled league day, so get ready. I'm hoping the Seneca boys can close the gap just a little so this season isn't a landslide Cayuga victory as week one would make it seem.---------That should get the ball busting rolling. I'll post a results thread on friday night to post to with pics and possible weekly lunker weights. Happy fishing gentlemen. LJ

Cayuga - Deans Cove Tuesday June 9th
Lil Jake replied to stoutner's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
I went out today in the Dean's area and just killed em. Had to get over 280 feet plus to keep the rods firing steady. I won't be out this weekend but if I was going I'd mess around south of Deans llike from P Beach to Sheldrake in that deep water run west of center lake. Today they came steady on the wire(green dot spinnies with a number of different fly's) out 300 to 330. Rigs down 70-80 with flasher fly. Thursday night I had a new guy aboard and was going to show him how the cheater works, well I give it a toss in the water and 5 seconds later while still in the prop wash down 2 feet and back no more than 15, out of the water comes a dink LL with the cheater in his lip. No BS it was the craziest thing. Of course I told the new guy as this in happening "just like that, works everytime." -
Co pilot needed for Cayuga, Wens 6/2 (tomorrow!)
Lil Jake replied to chowder's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
Andy, I'll be out there in the early evening after work. If it was anyone else I'd take the day off to fish with you but if I'm on your boat how in the hell are we going to run into each other out there. Good luck buddy, I'll "run" into you later. Mark -
Cayuga Tuesday May 25th Dean's/Long Point
Lil Jake replied to stoutner's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
Wayne, I had one taker around 7 o'clock and then nothing until minutes before dark when we had a double, one on the copper and one on the wire. Only three fish but they were quaility fish 8.5-9.5. I'll be out again tonight if your around and would like to go---bring your girlfriend, my boats a mess. Mark -
Just busting your chops Scott. I'll tell you what, if I hit the in the ground I'll back the heck out of your derby next year, but for now I'll give you my $20 and a big thank you for put this together. L J

Scott, Glad to see this is going to happen. Looks like it will be fun I just wish it was set up more like the B&B Derby's. A side note for the guys in the C/S Cup, this is the same day as the All Cayuga league day so you may as well sign up. L J

Im in for $10, or maybe RR could put it in for me to cover the 10 he owes me for the vote. L J

Wow thats a lot to take in at the end of a long s**ty day, but I'll try to answer you all. Wayne there are only 5 dates, May 1, June 19, July 31, August 14 (All at Cayuga date plus the 1st annual Lansing Days Derby) and September 11 (all Seneca day and season ending party). The dates you quoted Wayne were the "first draft" and I cut them in an effort to not schedule on previously scheduled tournaments. Maybe next year we'll go for more dates if the league members want to. Justin, I don't think your idea is a bad one at all but lets see how this year plays out and take it from there. When I had this idea I thought it would be a couple of minutes a day but I was wrong. Once I get my poop in a group and have a year of doing this under my belt we can look at all kinds of different ways of mixing it up, bear with me. LB 88, I haven't heard that but it wouldn't shock me if that's what those idiots in Albany are thinking. If the DEC says no tournaments on the finger lakes I'll personally set up a derby every single weekend. I work with them on the fishermens dairy program, volenteer on clean up crews and like a lot of you I'm sure, proudly served in the armed force (5 years 3rd Ranger Bat) but in my opinion, DC and Albany is "blind" when it comes to our wants and wishes here in upstate NY. If they want to shut down programs in NYC I'm all for it but leave us here in upstate alone. Sorry to all the C.O.'s out there, I don't want to see your business drop off but if they were to make upstate the 51st state of the union I'd be ok with it. OK, let me get down off my soap box and say everyone is intitled to their own opinion; and in my opinion if the DEC shuts down the derby's on the finger lakes they blow chunks. Fellows I'm not usually like this but it has just been one of those days. If you guys want to fish in a league with people that just want to get away from the day to day BS of life then I'll keep trying to find a way to make it happen. I can't make it work for everyone but if we as fishermen stick together we can make it work for us. God Bless the USA. Mark

Zeke, I'll be over that way Saturday morning myself. I'll keep my eyes peeled for you. Mark

Ya Nick, 5 heaviest fish per team. Could be one from each boat or two from one boat three from another. That's why even if you only have one good fish you need to send it in for the team score. Without looking I think I used one of yours two of 711 and two of Justains for Seneca's total last week. Understand or am I doing a bad job of explaining the scoring.
-
Nice job Jason, I really hope things work out next year so you can join us, of course that's assuming there is a next year. I think there will be, it seems to a hit for one week anyway. Mark

I want to keep the fish used for team weight close to the cuff until the end of the season so the league and team leaders are still hungary and in the hunt for the individual title, but I will tell you just this one time, that only because Sean, Splitshot and Mower didn't fish last weekend I have known the current leader for the last 41 years. Splitshot, good news for us,,,,,,,BAAAAAADDDDD news for them. See you tomorrow afternoon if your around Split. Mark

The results for week one are in and it's a difference of one good fish. Good luck to all of you fishing the Barney Derby next weekend and the National on Seneca. See you on the water. Mark

got it thanks

hell ya, lets see those fish

Just a reminder that when you pm your results you need to break it down fish by fish if you want them to count towards the team total. You can have more than one fish in your teams top five. Once I get eveyones in I'll post the team totals. Mark

I actually talked to LB 88 about that this morning before I went out and was telling him that gripper is 8oz's. So I'm calling that fish 10-13. I'm not much for posting pictures but if I think it might be in the runninhg for the weekly lunker I'll post, just so you guys don't thiink there's any funny business going on. I'll get the weeks results out once I get them all in. Hope everyone had a good weekend. I know on Cayuga I heard as much radio chatter on Saturday as I did almosy all of last year which really was kind of the point of this whole thing. Mark

I should have added in last post,, this fish is swimming as we speak. A good example of how our scoring system, the honor system, will help preserve these fish. Mark

11.5 pounds out from Long Point down 75 feet in 34o feet of water. Green dot spinnie/ salty balls. I can't remember what that holder weighs, I think 8oz. I'll have to check and deduct that from the weight. LJ My 14 year old daughter with the same fish-----eyes on the fish boys.

No problem Rusty, I just thought I'd ask. If your going to drive in for every event you should fish where the big ones are, so you made the correct choice. I'll look for you on the water tomorrow. Mark (LilJake) ch. 68
-
Well that kinda sucks, I was hoping to pick up a guy or two and we are losing one. It will still be fun I just wisn the teams were a little more evenly matched. Rusty 1034, if you would be willing to fish for Seneca I'd split your entry fee with you, the only reason I'm asking is you were the last guy in and your trailing your boat. If you don't want to travel the extra distance I completely understand and your more than welcome to stay on Cayuga like we talked about yesterday, I just wanted to see if it was an opition. Mark

Here are teams as of now Cayuga: LiL Jake SplitShot Final Flight Mower Stoutner David Rusty 1034 Seneca: Lake Bound 88 Trolling 82 Justin Sean Brown 711 skwerlz If I missed any body let me know so I can update this. As you can see Seneca is two guys short. I just added Rusty 1034 this afternoon. He wants to fish and I'm not going to turn anyone away. In this things early stages there was a guy, trouthunter, that was looking to get in but I haven't heard from in a while, if any of you guys know him see if he is still interested. One more guy would be good. I wish Jason would hit the lottery so he wouldn't have to work all these weekends and he join us. Well two days left to recruit as many as possible, get a the phone Seneca and see what you can come up with.

Good here from you Sean, I was going e-mail you tomorrow. Are you OK with fishing Seneca. They are are little lite on team members over there. Mark

Got your check today Mower so your all set there. Good luck on the big lake in the morning and when you hit Cayuga give me a shout. I'll be heading back out on the water around 5 myself. LJ
