  1. Hey Rick, I might just give it a try. I've been observing five years now on some of the top boats for all the Proams and WHI and I have learned quite a few things. Some of the guys taught me a lot and I appreciate their help and some were very secretive. I was on the winning boat (Pacific Time) last year. Like they say, "Hey you never know". All I have to do is find a crew. Jim
  2. I have a 10 foot Alumicraft johnboat for sale. It's deep for a little boat. The boat is in very good condition with no leaks. I am asking 350.00 or best offer. It would be great for duck hunters or the ponds. I am located in Brockport.
  3. Sent you PM
  4. The heck with the fish pictures. I'm looking at the size of the tomatoe plants in the background. How did you get them so big for only being the middle of June?
  5. ReelPower, Yesterday was the past, tomorow is the future. Every day is a gift from the Lord, that is why they call it the present. God bless you on a speedy recovery. Jimmy
  6. Hey Dave, I was going to call you guys to see if you were coming to this. It's a great time. Tell big Gene I know of a good Chinese buffet in the area. He will like that. I'll be staying at the Holiday Inn Friday and Saturday nights. Take care, Jim
  7. Hi Paul, Beautiful fish. Find out who the guy is with the attitude. I'll observe for him and make sure I bring a banana in my lunch that day. Jim
  8. All I know is I watched Casey catching pan fish off the back of Cold Steel at the dock at Sodus Friday afternoon before the Proam. The guy was picking out the fish he was going to catch and he did it with a bare hook. I couldn't believe it and I've seen the fish that she catches. Can you imagine what their kids are going to be like. They'll probably fishing the Pro circuit at ten years old.
  9. Someone left a cooler at one of the finger lakes over the weekend. Send me a PM with the details and I will make sure it is returned to you. Jim
  10. Tim, It was great talking to you, Jeff and your dad Friday at the weigh in. You guys are not afraid to share your knowledge or help out guys trying top learn the ropes by answering questions. I wish other folks were like you instead of being so secretive. Jim
  11. Woody, This is from the DEC Reguations Restricted Baitfish Species Carp, goldfish, lamprey larvae and round goby may not be collected or used for bait. Jim
  12. I think it is a great idea.
  13. If anyone needs an observer for the Niagara ProAm, I'm available. Send me a PM or call my cell (585) 734-5135. Jim
  14. My in laws bought me a 28 pair retail case of hand warmers. These are the little packets that are air activated. I grew up with the old metal style that you use lighter fluid with and had a a cloth cover/bag with a draw string. Any of you guys ever use these new ones? The box says they are long lasting up to eight hours.
  15. Brian, I bought an older 14 foot Mirrorcraft this past fall and it came with two small riggers. I would love to try it out close to shore trolling for browns off the Oak or Sandy. If there isn't going to be any ice fishing this year then we'll do some winter trolling. I have never done it in the winter so I don't know if it would be any good or if the fish are way off shore. Jim
  16. I let my nine year old play hooky on halloween day. We were at the bouys at Irondequoit Bay fishing for perch using fatheads. Right away he catches a double and both fish were decent size. He continues catching perch while I take them off the hook and he is having a blast. My little guy has Asbergers syndrome and sometimes he can be over dramatic. A short time later, I see him struggling with his pole and reel. Thinking that he is playing around I tell him to reel it in and stop playing games. He starts with the facial expressions and pants out,"It's stuck, I can't reel it". Poor kid, I thought he was playing around. The next thing I see is the pole bending under the boat and he is trying to hold on with both hands and not lose it. I grabbed it and we ended up catching a thirty inch dogfish. I never knew those fish fight so hard. We released the fish to fight another day. My little guy was so proud of himself and I know that day we made a lifetime memory. Jim
  17. Do the perch come into Oak Orchard river like they do at Irondequoit Bay or do you have to go out into the lake? I would like to try Oak Orchard river. Thanks, Jim
  18. I have a 1968 Starcraft 14 foot aluminum boat with a Buccaneer 5 hp. motor and a trailer. The motor runs great. I am asking $650.00 or B/O for everything. Ask for Jim (585) 734-5135
  19. I have a 2002 Alumacraft ten foot jonboat. $350.00 or B/O. Great for duck hunters or fishing small ponds and back waters. Call (585) 734-5135 ask for Jim.
  20. I saw this happen on Conesus Lake back in the 70's. I was by myself in front of a wall near McPherson Point when I saw this big pike swimming with it's head out of the water. It did it for about five minutes. I told the guys at work and they are all laughing at me wanting to know what I was smoking. No one would believe me. A week later I'm with two of my buddies from work fishing in the same area and we see a pike swimming with it's head out of the water. We didn't know what to think but I was so happy to see that fish. They went back and told everyone at work what they had seen and that I wasn't making up some wild fish story. I thought that it may have been a sick fish but after reading all of these other reports, I'm not sure but I'm glad to see a lot of other people have seen this type of behaviour.
  21. Jimski, When you went out deep to catch minnows, what type and how big of a net did you use? Jim
  22. Brian, Congrats to you and the Mrs. I wasn't sure if that was your wife on the leader board and I sent you a PM last night. Jim
  23. Shellback, I agree with you. I drive a limo bus part time. These guys treat me and my passengers like we are criminals. Once in a great while, I meet someone freindly at the border but most of the time, we are treated not very nice. I think some of these guys let the gun and uniform go to their head.
  24. Matt and Rod, Congrats on the fish. Sorry to hear about the border patrol incident. Rod, I'm going to try those flies as soon as I get my boat in. Should be next week. Thanks again. Jim
