  1. Frustrating, yes. But i doubt anybody would take their flare gun out and shoot at the person on the jet ski for it. I too hate it when a dog is running deer on my property, but as many people have already mentioned, i think there are a lot of alternatives than to taking matters into your own hands and shooting the dogs (especially if you know who the dogs belong to).
  2. Hi oleschool, do you have any pictures that can be uploaded?
  3. Not sure of any ways to be tick free other than avoiding the woods and fields altogether, which isn't really an option for most of us . I read a blog by a guy from Corning that hunts Addison area for pheasants a lot, and said the last two times he's been out he's picked a couple off himself and between 30 - 40 from his two dogs. Kind of a scary thing with them being carriers of Lyme Disease.
  4. Thanks! I definitely wasn't questioning your aging, just didn't know that there was a way to age them.
  5. Just curious, how do you age a pheasant?
  6. For anyone that tried the link that i posted for John Gaulke's website, i heard it was referring people to an unrelated website. I talked to John this morning and he said he was having some issues with his hosting company and that it should be back up and running later in the week.
  7. I've read some reports from a charter that does almost all jigging for lake trout. He takes his clients to any of the finger lakes, but has been on Keuka twice last week. I've copied his reports and posted below, but you can look up past reports on his website, or even give him a call/email him. Very nice guy and always willing to help. Website: www.fingerlakesanglingzone.com/reports.asp Keuka Lake 10/25 + 26 Fishing for lake trout remains excellent on Keuka Lake. The lake level is starting to drop but launching remains a cinch. Fished out of the State Park yesterday and Hammondsport today. 10/25: Did a full day with Mike and Koen (from Belgium!) They joined me a couple years ago for some laker jigging out of Sampson. They've had some decent fishing this season on Seneca and were looking to get out on Keuka. These guys do some saltwater vertical jigging as well and brought along some different styles of jigs and equipment. The bite started out slow, but somewhat steady in Branchport with around 2 to 3 fish landed. Good numbers of lakers and bait were around. I prefer the Bluff oftentimes for many reasons and we made the run there after 2 hours. Fishing gradually picked up and the guys wound up landing and releasing a nice bunch of lakers to 24". I think 23 fish were landed, so action was generally very good. The plastics worked best, but fish came on a few other jig types as well. The Bluff area continues to hold a lot of bait! Surface temps are in the upper 50s. 10/26 AM: I had to shuffle a few trips around due to cancellations and a late booking, but all worked well. I met Don, his brother Bruce and Don's son Don at the Hotel at 7:45. We knew the winds were forecast to gust up to 40 mph out of the south, so I wouldn't have launched anywhere else! Going early was a good call and the winds were good for the first two hours. The bite went really well today, despite being confined to the lower part of the lake. We never ventured more than 1/2 mile north. The guys landed 13 solid fish including a 24"+ fatty. We are releasing our largest Keuka fish in hopes they get even bigger. We had a really good time and Bruce fishes Lake Superior a bit for lakers and I'm psyched to see how he does with the jigging up there. He said that the Keuka fish were very reminiscient of Lake Superior lake trout. The bite slowed a little after the wind kicked up big-time, but the fish were still hitting and we caught fish until we quit. We saw two other boats out. That was it!
  8. Cool pictures of the fog on the water, and nice job!
  9. Way to go Les! Looks like it was a great day on the water.

Great looking fish, Joe! I bet you got a good fight out of that one..
  11. How much do you charge to track a deer? I will keep the number handy in case i know of anybody in need. Thanks!
  12. Very nice deer, and great shot as well!! Congrats!
  13. That looks like it might have caused a little discomfort! One very good reason to wear sunglasses even if the sun is not an issue.
  14. They should take the money that it costs to take the course and put it into a fund to support fish hatcheries / lake clean-up, but we all know that would never happen
  15. 100% agree with this response!!! You definitely hit the nail on the head, Les.
  16. So if there is a drunk driver that hits and kills another person, the logical thing to do would be to address the vehicle they were driving or the type of alcohol they were drinking? I think the logical thing to do would be to address the individuals who are committing the crimes. What drove them to committ that crime and what can we do to prevent other people like them from doing the same thing...and i definitely don't think taking guns away from law abiding citizens is the answer. The only thing that will do is prevent law abiding citizens from being able to protect themselves and their families, and give criminals a better chance of committing a crime.
  17. Very nice fish Kevin!!!
  18. Nice Job, Nick! Sounds like you've had a couple of good days out there lately.
  19. It's getting to be that time of year that the fleas should be starting to disappear
  20. Haha Ed, Les even provided a "moonlit dinner" on the boat for me. What a nice guy! His wife's Zucchini bread was pretty darn good too.
  21. Met Sk8man at Sampson State Park launch at ~ 4:15 yesterday afternoon for an evening troll. We were targeting bows and landlocks, but it was tough conditions as the fleas and weeds were everywhere. We did manage one 7-8lb laker on a thermocline rig down maybe 75ft over 450fow. Regardless of the fishing, it was a beautiful day on the water and great to meet a fellow fisherman. Thanks Les for taking me out on your boat and teaching me some new techniques! I had a great time talking fishing and it was nice to meet you in person. Sean
  22. Yankee Troller - - - We were on Bob Kitchen's (Good Times Charter) boat on Sunday out of Oak Orchard. We fished the 23 - 27 line i believe.
  23. I'm not sure what the reason is, but i was on a charter yesterday for 11 hours of fishing and we had the same thing. We ended up landed two over 22lbs, and a few between 8 & 15 lbs. Boated a total of 6 fish, but marked bait and bigger fish all over the screen. They came up and looked but most wouldn't hit.
  24. There is an over-abundance of lake trout in Keuka lake right now. They have basically taken over the lake, which is why you haven't caught any browns, rainbows, or salmon yet. I have heard reports of a few people catching some bows and browns this year, but they are few and far between! Some of the other guys on here may be able to help you out more with trying to target those species on Keuka such as speed, depth, and location. My suggestion is that if you want to catch a mixed bag, try Seneca.
