  1. Green pumpkin is another i don't leave home without!
  2. What is everybody's Go-To lure and color for Largemouth bass in May - June? I'd have to go with the Senko Worm (Watermelon Seed) Sean
  3. Good report Dave, nice job!
  4. Just wondering if anybody has been out on Sandy Pond yet this year and how the water levels are right now / how the fishing has been? Thanks, Sean
  5. Thanks guff, i'll give that a try next time i go.
  6. Well we got out on the lake around 4:30 at the hammondsport end and started jigging. Seems like my brother was the only one that knew what he was doing, he caught 3 lakers in 80-100 fow. Since we really weren't marking many concentrated fish, we decided to do a little trolling too and managed 4 or 5 more lakers on the downriggers @ 70 feet and 90 feet. Would like to try jigging again sometime in the near future. I've heard a lot of people talking about the branchport end of the lake when it comes to jigging, but never tried that before. Any suggestions? Sean
  7. Clarkie, Thanks for the info, that should definately be enough to get us started! I do not have an electric trolling motor, so we will just have to do what we can without. The forecast is calling for 6-9 mph winds this evening, so without an electric trolling motor would you suggest going with 1 1/2 ounce or 1 ounce? Thanks Again, Sean
  8. Going to try jigging on keuka lake for the first time today after work. Probably be launching in Hammondsport. Just wondering what depth would be a good starting point, and also I've heard some people say you should drop your jig to the bottom then just reel it back up as you drift, and others have said jig it right on the bottom. Any suggestions?? Any advice would be great, like i said its my first time jigging Thanks! Sean
  9. I'm also looking to try jigging for lakers for the first time on Keuka. After reading this thread i now know what kind of rod and line to use, can anybody give me a little more info on what type of jig/lure to use, and more on the presentation of it? Actually, any information on jigging would be helpful and appreciated Thanks in advance to all that reply! Sean
  10. Trolling. I just bought a set of new Walker electric downriggers (Christmas gift to myself) and the second time out with them the motor seized up on one of them and i had to send it back to the company to have it fixed. So on Saturday i was trolling with 3 lines in the water, two lines off a downrigger and a Seth Green. Not a bad day for only having 3 lines going.
  11. Fished Keuka on Saturday from 7:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. with a few friends, we boated 24 lakers and lost 2. It was a beautiful day on the lake and caught a few nice ones. I'll try to post a pic later today.
  12. Launched in Hammondsport yesterday morning at around 7:00. Fishing started out a little slow and then all of a sudden the lakers started hitting left and right. We were out for about 3 hours and ended the day with 20 lakers with about 4 or 5 more that we lost. We had a tough time keeping lines in the water, especially with several doubles. Overall it was a fun time and a great day to be on the lake! Sean
  13. Panfisher - Thanks for the info, i'll have to check it out when i get a chance.
  14. I live in Corning, and i don't really have the time to travel very far right now so i'll probably go in the Chemung River
  15. Hey guys i've never targeted walleye before, but would like to try it out in the river before the season ends March 15th. I'm looking for some help on how to catch my first walleye. What kind of lures/presentations to use, do i fish rapids or slow moving water, deep or shallow...etc. Really any advice would be very helpful Thanks Sean
  16. Thanks for the info guys, i appreciate it! BSMaster -- I have never caught a walleye before, but i hear this is one of the best times to fish for them in the rivers. Is this true? What kind of lures do you use for them in the river? Sean
  17. Just wondering how soon the Smallmouth would become active in the rivers? I've never fished for them this early in the year before, but with the unusually warm weather this winter i'm getting antsy to get out there and do some fishing. I usually fish around Corning, NY. Thanks for the help! Sean
  18. @ FLXTroutman The company that makes the Sutton spoons is in Naples, correct? I was just wondering where i could go to buy some more sutton spoons because i had heard that nobody was making them anymore. This is good news!!
  19. No size to them really, i think the biggest was 4 lbs. But we did hook a triple and severaly doubles first thing in the morning, knew it was going to be a good day then!
  20. Sorry my mistake, it was yesterday morning i was out not Thursday (we would have been blown off the lake that day!) We were trolling with 2 downriggers set between 70-90 feet down over 110-150 fow. We also had a seth green out the back of the boat bouncing bottom. We caught half of them on the seth green and half on the downriggers.
  21. Launched at Hammondsport on Thursday and started fishing at 6:30 a.m. We went 34 for 40 on lakers and were off the water by 12:30. Not a bad day for 6 hours of fishing! Sean
  22. Would like to get out this weekend and do some trolling, but haven't been out for over a month now. I was wondering where all the action is at this time of year, Seneca or Keuka? Also where would you recommend launching from/depths to fish. Thanks a lot!! Sean
  23. Private pond on a rubber worm. Yes, i was surprised it was only 4 lbs too but it had a parasitic cyst on its tail and the guy i talked to about it said that will prevent them from gaining weight sometimes. It should have been around 6 lbs.
  24. Caught this 21.5 inch, 4 lb largemouth last weekend. Hope i can get into that size fish for the Red Cross tourney this weekend!
  25. My friend and I would like to enter a few trout derby's this year either on Keuka or Seneca Lake. Just wondering when the derby's are this year? Thanks, Sean
