Well, my addiction to this thread almost got me in trouble tonight! I was not expecting to get out at all today because my wife had two newborns to photograph today. She finished up early around 2:15 and I had a 40 minute drive to get to my hunting land (my step dad, mom, and brother were already up there hunting). When I got there we decided to do a small push through some hemlocks that usually hold deer this time of year. 1 walker and three sitters. I was at the bottom watching the base of the hill. After about 15 minutes of sitting there I decided to check this thread to see if anybody had shot anything today, so I scanned the hillside then grabbed my phone. I might have been looking at my phone 20 seconds when I looked up to scan the hill again and I see a big buck standing 50 yards in front of me broadside. I dropped my phone, pulled my rifle off my shoulder. As I did that, he snorted and took off on a dead run across the field. I got on him with my scope and squeezed the trigger when he was about 70 yards away and I see him stagger a little. Got a second shot off at about 120 yards and dropped him! For the past 8 years now we have not shot anything less than an 8 point on the 500 acres that we own/lease (all 500 acres are connected). There is absolutely no doubt that the number of quality bucks you see increases drastically by participating in QDM. We are also fortunate that almost all of the surrounding properties near us also participate in QDM However, if NYS does decide to make it a law, I feel like there should be an exception for youth/first time hunters. When we invite friends or family on our property to hunt for the first time, they are welcome to harvest any size buck they want, no questions asked. After they harvest their first buck, we would expect them to follow the same restrictions that we do on our property. There could be a lot of discouraged youths hunters that never get hooked if they go a few seasons without being able to harvest a legal buck (if restrictions are in place). Had a proud father moment tonight. Last year we built a new house in a 9 acre field. We mow about 1 acre and the rest my father-in-law plants corn. Tonight we had a handful of doe behind the house near the edge of the woods. My son (4 years old) grabbed a set of sheds in his room, opened his window and started rattling. A few minutes later he runs downstairs and insists that he called a buck in for me to shoot. I followed him upstairs and sure enough, a spike was running right across the field towards the house! I think I've already got a hunting buddy for life now, and I cant wait for him to be old enough to hunt. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app

46 deer is more than I saw during all of my sits during bow season combined this year! The deer population has been getting worse and worse over the past 10 years for us. Tonight was the best night I've had this year with 8 deer sightings. 2 first racks and a 2 1/2 8 point that I passed. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app

For anybody that may take meat to Painter's meat processing in Elkland, PA, just a heads up that the owners are retiring in January when they finish their current orders (due to both of them having health issues). They started on their Facebook page that they are not accepting any venison at those unless you have a gift certificate to redeem. Also, congratulations to everyone that has taken a deer in the past few days! Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Perfect wind for my favorite stand tonight. Got to the woods at 1:30pm, pulled a card from the camera that points directly at my stand....4 bucks on camera from 730 this morning until this guy walked by at 1130am. 2 hours before I got to the stand. Unfortunately I was not able to hunt this morning! Even have a great video of two bucks fighting with the stand in the background at 730 this morning. Not sure if I can upload videos though?
