Money maker for the repair shops.Wheelers have been getting stuck and breaking down.Guys broke down Saturday evening 5 miles out. They called 911 and were rescued. There were more 1st responders there than you could imagine.Great to know they have a great plan in place incase things go south and would like to give them a personal Thanks.Sled is by far the best transportation with current conditions.
Glad you have had good luck with the Heartlands.I have used alot of diffrent Daiwa rods and reels.I have had terible luck with the Heartlands.I have broke several that were less than a year old.I will use Daiwa rod but have written off Heartlands.
Windy and drifted snow at Sturgeon today fished in 54' Drilled 1 hole 12 Inches my buddy moved 100 yards away it was 4in Perch fishing was slow got a few nice ones.Didn't see any one else but I really didn"t look much. Hunkered down.
In my opinion it's not safe for machines yet.Last Sunday I made it out to 53' on foot spudded the whole way. 90% was great 12" plus. 8% iffy 2% I wouldn't walk on.Shoves all the way out to about 50' smooth after that but the ice at 53' was only about 4" of white.I would think with the snow cover it hasn't gotten better.I am going for another hike in the morning will report what I find. But if your crazy ivan you are welcome to blaze a trail for me.
Speaking of Erie current late in the afternoon Sunday while I was out there fishing. The current got so strong I had to dill a hole 5' down current to see my lure and it was large and heavy.I have never seen that much current there.
The DEC did grade it and put some gravel on it this year. The ruts are gone but still steep. The hill scares a lot of people away I guess that's what I like about it.
I have used it other than heart attack hill it's all good.30' of water isn't far.Lots of short eyes and pinners. But have gotten good keepers there also.
This year started the same way as last year 1st. Fish was a Walleye. Landed 2 lost 2 at the hole.also got 12 Perch biggest was 141/4.Ice varied 4-12". Missed a nice Laker about 30" right under the ice also great start.
I am with Nautitroller.I have 45 acres of private land to hunt but choose to hunt public land because the quality of deer is better.I guess it all matters where you hunt.I am lucky to live in an area with an abundance of deer.I easily passed on over 30 bucks probably close to 50 So to me it is no big deal to let a 6 point walk by or even small 8.But I don't think I passed on many more Does than that.I think it was pretty close to 1 to 1 ratio where I was hunting.
I favor the antler restrictions( except for youth hunters)were I hunt restrictions have been in place for a couple of years and I am starting to see the difference.
