  1. Ray do they still have the sign by the side of the road with the # of road kills ?
  2. I use Hornady xtp 250 grain with 59 grains of Vihtavuori N120. Here is a good website for good loads.http://randywakeman.com/Favorite_Savage_10ML-II_Loads.htm This is from the website.Sorry it is hard to read because of the color.Anyhow it says not to use Powerbelts. III. DO NOT USE POWERBELTS WITH SMOKELESS POWDER Use of "Powerbelts" and other bore-sized conicals with smokeless powder is clearly prohibited by the Savage 10ML-II Owner's manual. They are undersized, and can cause misfires. The green gas check at the base has a hole in it, and is insufficient for smokeless powder. By virtue of being bore-sized, they fly poorly compared to the Savage recommended .45 caliber projectiles. Not jacketed, they are copper plated ("copper clad") or just pure lead. They have been tested, and in addition to all the other problems, filling your barrel full of lead has been the result-- a horrible mess to try to clean up. However, heavier Powerbelts and other heavy conicals do shoot quite well out of the Savage when used with Pyrodex or Triple Se7en-- but please do not cause yourself problems by using them with smokeless powder. Their use is prohibited with smokeless powder by Savage Arms: smokeless is for 250 - 300 grain "saboted projectiles only."
  3. Thanks for sharing the picture.Great buck congrats to the shooter.
  4. Saw 7 or 8 bucks today most were chasing does. Most were smaller bucks one was nice. For the last week or so mid day has been the ticket 75% of the bucks I have been seeing have been from 11-2
  5. Go to Erie. 60 to 70'off the Catt. You will see them on your graph!Get plenty of Emeralds.Closer than the good Perch Finger Lakes.
  6. Good I hope Gander and Dicks step up there game or leave.
  7. Nice wheeler Woody.I have a nice 1987 Johnson 88 spl outboard. You wouldn't be interested in a partial trade by any chance?
  8. We were fishing the Marathon hump about 30 to 35 miles off shore.
  9. I would be interested in 2-4 also.Have cash and a car.
  10. "All in all it was a great week. We usually go to Marathon but we all enjoyed our time in Key Largo and might go back there instead of Marathon next year". I have been to Marathon a few times and we slayed the Black fins every time we could make it off shore.I always went in march.Probably some of the funnest fishing I have ever done.Trolling surface lures with Black fins crashing all around with Flying fish boiling out of the water all around.Quad hookups were the norm.Find the birds and you found the fish.I am sure Key Largo is just as good with shorter runs to the Gulf stream.Looks like you had a great trip thanks for sharing it brought back some fond memories.
  11. Fished Barcelona for the first time.Fished solo from 11-dark.95' was the most productive for me.60' down on the riggers 10 color took some also.Ran sticks and harnesses.Wound up with 8 biggest was 30.5"
  12. Maybe I under estimated measured 29" I would guess 9lbs and change.Biggest so far this year.
  13. Fished from 11 till dark.Fished solo out of Sunset Bay.I only managed 1 eye about 8lbs. got broke off by another about 5 min. later.85' just east of Dunkirk.10 color with a stick bait.
  14. I love both lakes but if I want to fill the freezer I have to go with Erie 6 per day is twice as good as Oneida. For a trophy I would go to Quinte.
  15. We had the same results Friday afternoon into the dark.Fished from the wall out to 60'.One guy was hooked up on the end of the pier when I was heading out.Thought I may have a chance,no such luck.I think I picked the right year to start fishing Erie.
  16. I have been fishing Erie this summer in my 19.5 gls I have not had a problem.A couple days it was pretty ugly but have made it out every time so far.Watch the forecast and hope for the best.Went on Monday solo picked up a few nice Perch while trolling. The guys fishing for them looked like they were doing well.I only managed 2 eyes.I couldn't keep the Whiteys off my line with the harnesses.I switched to spoons and that didn't even slow them down.I was doing good on Eyes all summer last few trips have been hit or miss.Get Emeralds and worms fish the eyes early if it doesn't pan out fish for the Perch.
  17. You could check out the lower Niagara. The Salmon are starting to show up.Nice scenery even if the fishing isn't at it's best.
  18. I have a 88 Spl Johnson I would consider selling I believe it is a 1987.
  19. http://www.charts.noaa.gov/OnLineViewer/14823.shtml Top of Map.We did 16 Saturday.
  20. Nice catch. We had a good bite Saturday out of Sturgeon about the same depth with harnesses.I caught one when I was setting a stacker on the rigger with my line only 8' down over 70' but most were 60' plus.
  21. I fished Sunday out of sunset Bay.Fished from 11 till sunset. We only managed 6 in 92-96 fow. Most fish came on spoons off the riggers down 60-70.Managed a couple off our cores.5 color with weight and 10 color pulling harnesses off our inline boards.
  22. My friend and I did a 2 man limit and threw back a few more out of Sturgeon Point.Fished from 45-58'.Several different harness and stick baits off lead core took fish as well as spoons off the riggers.Got my first eye double off 1 rod. Spoon on the rigger with a slider.Fun day but a wet bumpy ride back to the point.Mostly smaller fish today but got 3 over 5lbs.
