Yeah Nitro I am, a lot of guys been saying they are catching pike with walleye baits so I figure why not give it a wack.
I have a couple of shakspeare lc reels that I really like but I do use the rapala counters on other rods. The new versions are nicer with angled head and light. You just have to tighen the tension for braid and I use my thumb to hold the line tight tight to the rod while letting line out, then they work fine.
Nice eyes ,Thanks for the excellent report. Use any gulp alive on those jig's? I have had limited sucess with it. Wondering if anyone else is doing better with the stuff. The Linders seem to do so good with it.
Nice day on the water. Went three for five on the northerns. 2 on bionic bucktail black n silver. In front of conesus inn. 1 on orange reef runner 100 back at 2mph. south end. Largest around 33 let them all go boatside so no actual measurements for fish that small. Water temp only 68 due to cloudy day. Had to leave early being a school night n all. Would have liked to stay until 1am for some eyes.
I would like to thank all the LOU members who helped with baitfish fund. I am proud to be a member of LOU community. I was introduced to LOU by Bob S (Solgrande) who I have personally worked and fished with for nearly 20yrs. We've come a long way from getting kicked off the girders of the Sodus Bay Bridge (catching monster LG mouth bass off the Lily Pads). Here in my estimation is a whole forum of "guys like us", Fishin and givin a sh*t about it. I told Capt. Larry this was a cool bunch of guys. Now that the fund has reached is goal for this year… I think all can agree.
Thanks for letting me be a part of this thing. Fishing is the one good thing I have had through all trials and tribulations of life.
Special Thanks to Chad for making this a sticky and to Capt. Larry for the fund.
And mostly to all the â€Guys like us"
Guys I bought some of these spoons from Bobby and they are quality plus he is a heck of a guy. Call and get you some...... I will be dragging one behind a MR Toothy Come next Saturday.
Thanks for the invite Capt. Larry,
We have to pack for the big move and get ready for the tourney and pack for camping. Just terrible timing.
Otherwise we would go as well. You guys go ahead and drink a few for us.
Wow giving up details, what if someone else catches a fish on your most excellent report? Wait thats what the forum is all about. Thanks for the report we might make it there this weekend.
Sorry cant stop laughing. Thats funny, sorry you wont be there Ray. Hopefully we will meet at the august tourney!
Hey Nitro you cuttin in on my action with some wileys huh. Well bet you cant beat the custom black perch tuff shads Zach painted up for me. With all these new baits maybe we will find a decent fish this year.
NYS does have a catch and release season using artifical lures only until 3rd sat in june.
Licence fees did go up but I dont know what the out of state fee is, you can call any nys baitshop that sells em to findout. Good luck on your trip.
