  1. Put me down for a 12er. P.m. me and off to sandy i will go.
  2. This is getting eggciting. Interestingly enough my dad, who lives on a creek off the lake, has seen a few trout running up just last week.
  3. Very good deal on durable Black Widows. Working in the tackle business for 20 years, these rods simply never came back broken. I am interested if not sold. Larry
  4. Nice buddy. Keep those reports coning
  5. This big female came out of the Genessee River last night on a nightcrawler. As part of our ongoing classroom experimentation, my fifth graders asked, "What do catfish eat?" This question is awesome and also an undeniable excuse (that even my wife cannot deny) to fish. Rochester's Genessee River is host to awesome fishing opportunity. In the past days, in lieu of trolling, I have been working toward the elusive GARBAGE GRAND SLAM. Suckers, carp, catfish, sheephead and......clam? Yes, we dissected the clam and a catfish. So, back to my awesome students. We watched a dissection by a Perdue scientist to learn a catfish's anatomy on YouTube. The kids were most interested in stomach content and swim bladder. It was a hit with only one near-fainter. Take a kid fishing. Tight lines. Larry
  6. One 15 lb danforth and one 15 lb steel hooker. $25 for both
  7. Nice reel. $15. Also Mitchell 300. The old Frenchy. $5
  8. Very nice!!!! She looks like a beaut!
  9. A few of my students asked me this question last week. You can Bing, Google, or try to explain it but what is better than the real thing? How about Captain Sam Zucco from Dream Catcher Charters? Sam is the president of the Genessee Charter Captains Association. He was also happy to have 3 extremely excited 5th grader aboard his beautiful 32 foot Penn Yan charter boat. All the questions were answered with a smile. I was thrilled with his generosity seeing those big smiles. Sam wasn't done making these kids fishermen for life though. Captain Sam took us to the fish pens where my students fed and learned all about steelhead and kings. Thanks to Sam! These kids shared with the whole school that they went on a charter boat and are now fishermen. "When can we go again Mr. Hammond?" Let's all take kids fishing. They are the future of this great fishery.
  10. Here is Jack on board his Thompson Gunner with, perhaps, the largest goby I have ever seen. Jack is well know for his goby prowess.
  11. Hey folks. Listen, I just want to justify buying 2 new Church TX44 boards to my wife.....i need about $100 for these nice riggers. They are extremely lucky.they have caught exactly 0 derby winners which means they still might. Everyone knows that you dont buy a used rigger that has caught a derby winner. Its bad ju ju. I still have a can (nearly full) of corn that will go to the buyer. PM me. Seriously though, good luck in the derby folks. Larry
  12. The Bay rats are extremely close to the old Nils Master stick baits.
  13. Here are the volunteers. Eric Abate, Greg Arnold and Don. Here's the Genessee Charter Boat Association captains that worked, Capt Sam Zucco, Capt Lenny Brozak, Capt Gary Begy, Capt Randy Calis, Capt Craig Hyjecki, and Capt Larry Hammond.
  14. Members of the Genesee Charter Boat Association, captains, local fishermen and just plain nice folks came out to assemble, sew, repair and put in the pens for upcoming salmon and steelhead. We worked hard but were able to patch everything back together and put them all in. These Rochester captains are extremely knowledgeable and hard working. More than a few times I heard mention of how carefully to treat these pens and the fish they will contain as "each one of these fish could be the next derby winner". Here's some snap shots of the work we did. Tight Lines folks. Don't forget to leave your favorite fishing spot looking better than when you arrived at it. Larry
  15. First of all, welcome! Often times the shore fishing reports are under the tributary section. Definately check out your local tackle shop and ask for the latest reports. You will want to pick up blue and silver cleos (ask what other local colors) in two fifth size and some good ball bearing swivels. Google fishing access spots, in particular piers. Both Wilson and Olcott are terrific spots. The Niagara river is outstanding and overwhelming at the same time. Look into Artpark in Lewiston and try for monster carp with corn. P.m. me any time if you head near Rochester, or need advice. Good luck and welcome to the best fishing forum anywhere!
  16. Shumways launch on the river may be a good idea. It may cost more tho
  17. Nice work. Love the part about leaving the cookie cutters alone to grow up. Keep it up.
  18. These are sold folks but thanks so much for the interest! I will try to get some more corn.......I'm waiting a little bit........oh man, wait a second.... I gotta go!!!!
  19. Hi folks. Heres some EXTREMELY lucky planer board reels. For one reel, it's $75 but if you act right now, I will double your order. That's 2 Big John (super lucky) planer reels for $75. But wait! That's not it! The first pm'er will receive a nearly full can of corn for catching carp.
  20. Hey folks. Here's some work horse riggers for sale. They are either long or short arm with the swivel bases (Jack has the bases but will get them to me right away). One of them has a bit of a broken base but never effected their performance after it's screwed in. I don't have any weights for them, sorry! They are on craigslist for $200 but here for $150. They are ready to fish. I also have a nice pair of Big Jon planer reels. $80 for the pair. $220 for the whole bunch. I don't have pix of the big jon planers but will asap P.M. me! Larry
  21. Nice report and thanks. Im hoping the small craft advisory winds settle for a few trips this week. Tight lines
