remember these fish are in feeding behavior.... they are where the bait is simply... sometime the bait isnt around piers or it is but the fish are feeding somewhere else..hit and miss fishing for sure.. when its good though rock on

rock on DF, love ya... wasnt targeting pike, steel and brown was target species... anytime you're fishing inlets, a predator fish is surely staking the area too... hit a husky jerk on 6 lb line...

yes I have.. wait for calmer winds of course... browns, occasional ho ho and some juvy steelhead.... spoons 1/4 oz and stickbaits in green have worked for me... early morning is best... what for fish surfacing in or outside pier... They will give up thier location, then work that water... dont worry about color or lure... just throw what you have confidence in..seen them caught on everything from sackage to flatfish..

rock on guys/gals... actually thats only pic of fish, thought we forgot camera in truck, then found it in coat pocket... I already had fishs head through the hole when my buddy said "lets get a pic".. the fish wouldnt come back out the hole, gills/fins would have been injured... so thats all pic we got... might have been 12-13 pounder is all..

we were laughing about that... thats a 8 inch hole and had to push the fish through to release it.

rock on DF... to see the light hits I use a walleye harness float.. shaped like a capsule... they are little styrafoam things.. remember the smooth lift and out of the hole. when float goes down, lift slow and smooth right out of hole. rock on the smelt fest 2011...
