  1. Nice going Chuck. It's a great time to have a boat available
  2. Rolmops, I was not able to stay for the whole meeting last Tues. so I did not here that question. At least you got a straight answer from them about 2016. We can concentrate on 2017. I will persue this with the people involved with the other pen projects for any info.
  3. Definitely a nice fishing package at a great price. I wish I was in the market. And a nice trailer also.
  4. I hear ya about hijacking the mtg. The DEC has a few topics to talk about, but I'm sure the question could be asked if fish would be available or not for a pen project. If so, I'm sure I could get the OK to put a couple pens at the game club, if nothing else is available. There is a good spot for them at our guest dock.
  5. The meeting is this Tues. Dec 1st at 7 PM at the Iron. Bay Fish & Game Club 658 Bay Front S. I just checked with the president of the charter captains and the DEC is still on board. Stop down on the early side and have a $1.75 beer. Kevin
  6. I've been tempted to give up the D&C and get the Buffalo News. Much better all around. Especially the Sports/Outdoors section. Somebody posted on the LOU a couple months ago that the Buffalo paper told how Avon DEC was cancelling the Sportsman Day. Nowhere in the D&C. Leo Roth was much better than what we have now.
  7. I also have been using Troutmans weights for several years. Love the 15lb. torpedos. If you don't want to pay the shipping you can tie up with him at the Finger Lakes Trollers show in March, in Watkins Glen. Great spot to dump some more $$$.
  8. Pens in Irondequoit Creek. Great idea. Or anywhere in I-Bay for that matter. I would be willing to help with that effort. The DEC fish guru's are going to be at the Genesee Charter Captains meeting the 1st of December at the Iron. Bay Fish & Game Club. Would be a perfect time to bring this up. Maybe try to get them to think "out of the box". Kevin
  9. The DEC had a harassment program going for a couple of years on Oneida till the $$ ran out around 2013. I had a conversation with the DEC waterfowl guru last week asking if we can legally harass them off an island in Irondequoit Bay. Up till 2 weeks ago there were easily 1000 birds roosting on the island, slowly killing it with their crap, and making a mess of our boats at the dock. The quick answer was no we can't harass unless they're nesting. They are a native bird. Federally protected blah, blah. An island landowner on the Webster side did get a permit to shoot 25 a day and took out a good number. It helped his problem, but relocated the rest to our island off the Bay Fish & Game Club, which is county property. The DEC guy said he would e-mail me some info on what we can legally do. Still waiting for that. Kevin
  10. As for getting rid of the Cormorants. Careful they are protected. However, their eggs not so much. One can addle the eggs (putting a bit of oil on them so the exchange of air through the shell stops) and have a trained border collie chase the cormorants away from their roosting places. That is how we got rid of the geese in the town of Brighton,NY without killing them . You can oil the eggs if you can find where they're nesting. They only roost in this area. And eat and shi#!! A border collie would be useless unless they can climb trees. If you harrass them to leave you are making them someone elses problem. The Federal USFWS needs to make a decision on their protection status. Shoot em all!!
  11. S&R in Sea breeze is an authorized Blood Run dealer. If he doesn't have it he can get it pronto. Stop after 4:30 PM to see the owner.
  12. Congrats Bruce. Did the customer decide if he was getting it mounted? I hope.
  13. . Unfortunately that 400ft NE of I Bay is nowhere the 30-31 N line. I wish it was.
  14. Tried the nearshore waters for browns and caught a 10lb king with 3 of the fattest lampreys we've seen. That poor salmon couldn't wait to be netted. Went 4 fer 8 with 1 9lb brown 1 12 laker and another small king. All inside 100 ft. down 50-60 Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. If you're running them on the #1 setting, thats closest to the middle, it might look like it's close with a little wire out, but does swing out as you give it more. On the #4 setting mine swing out no problem. Better than plastics with ring. IMO
  16. Good job Matt. I also agree this is a great tourney. Love fishing out that way. Getting to 200fow is much easier than out of I-Bay. $$$
  17. Do not waste another minute to get in this great tournament. You do not want to be shutout of the Shootout.
  18. Good idea and you got a great start. On first read thru my only suggestion is surface speed could be described also as SOG that GPS's call it.
  19. 1 Daiwa Sealine 27H & 2 Sealine 27SH (Super High Speed). 1 SH needs a clicker. $75.00 for all 3. 2 Cabelas Depthmaster DR rods. #DR-80M. $30 for both 3 downrigger weights. 1 10#, 1 8#, and 1 7.5# herbie. $45 for all 3. Call or text or PM. 585-743-7337
  20. Nice Dan. It looks like LJ's got his hands full.
  21. http://www.uscg.mil/d9/cgcMackinaw/history.asp It's the only Coast Guard icebreaker on the Great Lakes. Doesn't say what they're doing here. Info on the Captain says he's from Rochester. Family reunion?
