  1. Holy sh&^%#^*t
  2. Beautiful!!! good job Dad .....Tyler congratulations
  3. Downside - With warmer temps' date=' meat spoilage will occur more rapidly. Be wary of the "processors" with a pile of deer in their driveway. Shawn[/quote'] learned how to do my own processing with Dad when slugs were flying over our heads . I was 12 no youth hunt then Do yer own fellas .....early hunt is awesome , get it while you can, worry about antlers later when they start to walk. good luck
  4. I am a meat hunter, make jerky, burger, all that. I love it. be out there friday night and sat. am but have a private spot to go no state land around so I understand the frustration some hunters have over the saturday opener for gun. Bow hunting on state land has always been very good for me. Just arrive at 430am and find your stand in the dark with a headlamp..quickly walk in and quickly climb up..very important not to fumble around. Do not ever!! hunt close to the road...hike back a good half mile when you hunt state land. Hey good luck all you guys and hopefully a few gals
  5. May have gotten the fingers regs out before the trip ..oops lake O has her own rules
  6. I think it's a great idea. Swallow your pride guys. If you are an accomplished bow hunter you will still pull it off in November after Holloween when they start to walk. Come on with the "once the shootin starts they will go into hiding" guys small game hunt in October and push deer all over. Climb into your tree at 4am on November 5th and be ready guys..same deer same circumstances. A young kid gets a chance to kill a nice deer and everyone gets in an uproar over it...rediculous
  7. Bow opens a few days before the youth hunt Oct.1st Hey np I see yer point, there are a few that will take advantage of this I'm sure it just seems like a huge lapse in judgement to sit there with a youngster expecting this time and circumstance there own only to pull rank and fire at a whitetail out of pure selfishness. What is the point? "mmmm jr. fell asleep, hell I'll just poke the 50cal out and bang mr. big right here"..what happens after that?
  8. "guardians of these kids that will take the gun to take the deer for there selfish selves!! " Well hope this doesn't happen . Teaching a kid to break the law on his first deer hunt what are we passing on here. My daughter is 11 now. She is extremely excited about taking the hunter safety training class with Dad and going hunting when she is ready. I have had her out on bowhunts and gun hunts from(not hunting just sitting with Dad) a blind we do have a ladder stand she is really interested at this point. My son started out the same way and the youth turkey hunts played a key roll in his interest, he thought it was really neat and special that the state would set aside time for a young kid to go out with Dad or an adult hunter. I have no problem paying for an extra license to get my daughter interested in the outdoors and spending quality time with Dad. Kids are in general not intersted in the outdoors instead consumed with the virtual world of gaming and out of touch and disintersted in the outdoors and all it has to offer. What are you worried about? This is nowhere near peak rut for bowhunters when your chances are best arrowing a big buck. a few kids get to shoot a deer and experience something special...we gotta pass this man
  9. Oct. 5th evening hunt here,6th am work allowing trimmed some branches and shot the bow yesterday...all set Got a mature pine in a funnel, berry trees, oaks surrounding. I fixed up a mock scrap that was already pawed up, wow the cool nights are getting deer fired up I think. trees in the southern tier were really turned up, I think an early peak for color after the dry summer. You guys noticing a good or lousy mast of acorns. Oaks seem to be struggling to fill out in my woods in Allegany.
  10. Hey thanks, gonna try this
  11. Bravo Mortigan!!! get rid of those f^%$&**ing things!!! I hunted with smokers for years who actually tried to convince me that their smoking in the stand covered human odor....whoa They never killed many deer either what about your nasty breath, body odor and stinking butts layin around!! Hey yer alot heathier now to Tomorrow looks good for a stand check, wet rainy weather..love it
  12. Happy Birthday ED
  13. also be very carefiul with your foot wear!! put your "go to the stand" boots separate from other foot wear!! put the boots on AFTER you exit the vehicle just before your hike in to the hunting spot. Bucks travel with there nose right on the ground does too...spray spray spray the feet and boots(scent killer fall blend) and make sure your feet stay dry...ton of odor coming here also try not to linger at the bottom of the tree. be ready to clip the safety strap on your harness and get climbing!! get your smell off the ground!! BE SAFE guys good luck
  14. Got em you were out deep ? nice job!!
  15. mmmm I see... yes the model there is not the one stolen from me. Thanks for the heads up, I am holding out to replace with the full GPS remote that compliments the I-Pilot features the one I had...thanks man new member?? welcome aboard!!
  16. My small bouncy boat while trolling...blacks
  17. Are we supposed to be suprised They had a chance to get a qualified quarterback....gonna be a looooong season Bill's fan
  18. yes very frustrating!! I would not go near that lake unless winds are SW or S with my little boat . There is always a calm day to pick later if conditions look borderline. You have to treat the fingers the same with a smaller sled. I trailered to Cayuga with my son on this past father's day thinking a 10-15 sw was gonna be ok..the lake looked like a raging ocean..over to Owasco we went and conditions were borderline but we got out for 2 hours. And what about the T storms and rain that could shorten a trip not just the wind and waves!! it's time to get hangin stands anyway
  19. Beautiful ...quiet evenings in there can produce big fish!!!
  20. Have to disagree here about the lakers- a properly cleaned, breaded, and fried laker can be some of the best fried fish there is. Done right it doesn't get any better. Just my opinion of course but I don't get it when guys knock them. Oh well this is the walleye forum! Right on Alec....laker can be delish if prepared properly ..my deep fried laker rivals any on the continant
  21. man those trout look awesome!! nice job in there
  22. carp fishing is way underrated!! if you enjoy fishing in the heart of summer get rigged for these beasts!! I hooked into a 5lber in Whitney Point Res years ago though it was a small king the way it fought
