I don't think the woods around the southern tier are dense enough to support a thriving population. There are some larger untamed tracts but mostly open forest and farm land. Our small game numbers are absolutely off the chain right now south of Almond
We have tracks in the snow last 3-5 winters in Almond area. Hoping to get a cam pic eventually . they love deep dark pine forests I think they will attack anything their size or smaller.
Huntstand.com free there are others more sophisticated but I don't "plug in" to kill a deer. It helps with wind direction and overall terrain layout as it relates to roads and ravines.
I am sure the regulars targeting them will be of more help. I always lucked into them Bass fishing slip bobber rigs in 6-15fow. And decent size too.always natural colors for plastics under the bobbers .
Get a climber for the state land no worries as far as theft. You can scout the trees ahead of time to climb into. Mark them on your smart phone app GPS you will see alot more deer too moving often to new locations.
That sucks scumbags are out there. Had stuff stolen years ago.Hang a couple cams well hidden or tape them up with leaves and cover . try to get pics of the scum bags..works
Very fortunate to have a camp too in Allegany. Can't wait finally retired the old Browning Heat for new Martin and love it.Alot of deer on cams and bears too.
You guys seeing acorns? It looks like a decent mast this year and the apples are rocking too. An early doe is in order all the tags came through.
Shot the Martin today all set . the 3 blade Muzzys 100s fly perfect. My wife says the rage broad heads look like ear rings . Make a.good shot guys good luck this fall.
Ran to Hemlock last night trolled around south end and midlake to east side. Marked tons of fish from 30-60 all over couldn't get the trout to go but the Bass!!
Wow it appears the big ones are suspending out deep here is a pic of one small mouth 2 others took the same perch deep diver off 7 color leadcore.
Beautiful night saw a huge immature bald eagle perched on the east side.
Tried all the Canadice spoons that have been working this summer just a tough night to move the trout. The laker is outta Canadice last weekend another evening troll.
Cayuga by far has been best for me this year out of the 14 the Lakers in there smash anything bright green on the wire dipsey out 175 on a 3. LL hit well too and grille better!
Good luck to any bowhunters I am switching gears the trail cams are calling now. Wanna see if this guy is still walkin
