  1. I doubt it was right. I'm hearing of 60 degree water down 120-130
  2. Did 2 kings on these last night. Ran 7 rods and the 3 rods running these did 3 of the 4 hits. Very pleased so far!
  3. Good stuff. Had a few of those short shots last night as well
  4. Plan was to fish Saturday, but I saw the forecast and was able to sneak out for a bit Friday night. Started fishing 5 pm, with a plan to fish till dark. We set up in 85 fow on a nw troll. I stacked riggers down 85-the bottom, and ran dipseys 240-300 with flasher fly. Took 4 shots- 2 with no one home and 2 small kings on my new custom painted revolution spoons. All the sudden at about 6:45, we went from 1 foot waves for 3-4 footers and driving rain, so we packed up and went in... Too bad A buddy of mine did 5 for 7 on better sized kings earlier in the day in the same water, so I know they're there... Just never got time to work them. Back out Tuesday. Good luck to everyone this weekend!
  5. I'll tell you tomorrow (hopefully!)
  6. Crab face is one of my constant mvps
  7. I did a pretty cool collaboration between 2 regulars on Lou that I thought you all would appreciate. I had Jeff from revolution trolling spoons send me some blanks, and had nick Canarvis from hybrid lures paint them up. It's kinda the best of both worlds... A cool, unique design with a fantastic paint job! Can't wait to try them out this weekend! These things are gonna kill a lot of fish I'm thinking!
  8. Look like that?
  9. The Sodus am is a perfect place to start! I do fairly well but I still don't feel like I can compete with the pros... And I've been doing tourneys for 6+ years. Do I occasionally have a better box than most pros? Yes, but on the whole, I would consistently be outside the money. The issue is that the buy ins are usually ALOT higher, and it's just not a smart gamble. If I was able to consistently fish 3+ times a week I would reconsider, but as it stands now we go out about 15-20 times a year. I LOVE tourney fishing though, and hope you do too!
  10. They can be very concentrated and very location specific. If you don't know any good spots, take a long troll on one direction in 20-40 fow until you find fish, then work it hard. They will be suspended, usually 15 foot down to the bottom. Small spoons work graat
  11. Warrens should have that spoon.
  12. Dirty white boy works great for me. Tuxedo too
  13. What gambler said. I fish with 4 guys so we can catch 12 and bring our 6 biggest in. And you don't have to keep shakers, etc
  14. Keep in mind- as an am you can cull... So get your Browns then go out looking to upgrade!
  15. Be versatile!!!!! If the plan isnt working for salmon, go to Browns, or visa Versa. When you pre fish on Friday, try several different methods to see what is working best. The key is you must have 6 fish to place. I've done well in that tourney only catching Browns, and I've done well catching steelies and kings waaaaaaaaay offshore.
  16. The only things that determine if I fish is wave height and wind speed. I've had great days on otherwise "poor" conditions and visa Versa. I get so few days to fish, so if I can go I go!!
  17. This year should actually set up nicely for next year's yoy class. The temp is much warmer so far. Not sure where the did their trawls, but I observed a bunch of schools of yoy alewives patrolling the shoreline in front of my cottage the last month or so, usually in 10 fow or less. And I know they are yoy as I was able to net a few. And the 2012 class is at prime breeding age so maybe this year's class will be big? The conditions appear to be right, so all we can do is hope...
  18. Where did you get this? I can't seem to find it. Would love to see the graphics for one
  19. Look forward to seeing you rod. Gonna be ok soon, just already near the transition...
  20. Catching the same ones today. I feel so bad beating them up. I agree that it's probably a good sign though
  21. Quick report as not much to say. My inclination was to try for Browns, but with the bad reports this week, we gave the offshore deal a try today. Fished until about 8:40, as my brother had to get in for a baseball game. Did 3 for 3 on small kings, 30-50 down on stinger and 28 spoons in 150-200 fow just west. We got back out for about an hour after dropping my brother off and tried 30-50 fow for Browns, plenty of bait but no Browns. 50 degrees down about 40-50 feet
  22. Yeah, fatheads spawn three times a year and will very quickly establish themselves. Throw in a Christmas tree or some pallets to allow them to breed and hide in
  23. For lakers, I usually run a 8-12 ft lead. For salmon and other trout, it will vary greatly depending on conditions... Usually 20-30, but I have run them as much 50+ in clear water/high sun situations
