  1. I think a big sticking point is that you can place in both size "boxes" both days, and in both overall categories as well... so if 3 or 4 guys are hot they are getting potentially 18 to 24 of those checks (2 checks for each division per day and potentially 2 overall checks for each team). I think that is what really bothers most am teams (though I could be wrong). After thinking ALOT about it, I dont really mind the mixing the teams aspect, but I think that you should have to use that same strategy mentioned above to decide which box you will compete in that day... then a pro or am team could place in either category either day. Everyone wins, and it guarantees that 20 DIFFERENT teams a day cash checks. The consistent teams then will have changes at the overall checks in either division. Is this up for debate or is it set in stone? Can this be something that we vote on, like the buy in? Please feel free to tell me if my thoughts are way off. I really want this to work and also want as many guys as possible involved.
  2. If you can cash in on both classes both days, then it seems to me that it is a veiled ploy to get the 20-30 ams per port to fish and get their money (850 dollars?!?) taken by the bigger, more equipped and sponsored charters... The top 10 12 fish boxes will almost always cash in on the short box too...I don't mean to be a pain but do I see this wrong?? Am I alone on this? I will keep my trap shut from here on out but I just hate to lose something that I really enjoyed. [ Post made via iPhone ]
  3. After talking with some guys at the lotsa it sounds like it may be worth trying, and hopefully the kinks will be worked out by sodus... I do hope though that you have to choose ONE box to enter, short OR long, and not both.... I got talking to people and missed the q&a- anyone know if it is a short OR long box competition or can you place in both on the same day? [ Post made via iPhone ]
  4. Ugh. If this year is anything like last year I will have zero prefishing days... What chance do I have against professional charters, no matter the size of the box? [ Post made via iPhone ]
  5. Lol we are gonna be done with browns and moved on to steelies out deep by the time my boat is in next month at this rate!! Leave some for me, let me help the wife get my kid borne then I can rejoin the fun... [ Post made via iPhone ]

  8. I've shot and killed probably a dozen deer with a 243 without any trouble but I know a guy who has used a 223 several times with success. Shot placement is the big issue with the 223 [ Post made via iPhone ]
  9. Looks like a great season. Here's to hoping for a repeat in 2012! [ Post made via iPhone ]
  10. Nice season. Looks like a banner year for many people. I agree, where did you find those pig smallies? [ Post made via iPhone ]
  11. An option may be to pay for a month in a few diff ports. Can expect to pay about 200 a month. I wouldn't expect to pay any less than 800 for a season anywhere. [ Post made via iPhone ]
  12. Steve- I will always have time for Seneca Lake Perch However with the size perch we have been getting in sodus, I hardly see a need to drive that far... Give me a call, I am always up for Perch!!
  13. Sooooo, I just reviewed my log book and reflected back on what was an excellent season. We fished primarily out of Sodus, and spent a month in Oak Orchard. According to the Log book We got out 22 times for trout and salmon. We ended the season boating 137 fish, which is a new boat record. I had my most productive day ever (15+ fish boated in a day by NOON!), and also broke my Record for Salmon TWICE (29 one day, 30 lbs the next day!!). I met some really nice guys on this board who I fished with (Andrew, Jake). I even sent a salmon to the taxidermist. I dont know if people realize what a wonderful resource we have in our back yard. I have my first child due in March, so I am guessing I will NOT be out much next year. Glad this one was so good. Here are a few of the highlights-
  14. We've done 34 then 60 then 85 in the south end. Really nice quality this year, a lot of those 10-11 that are so nice to clean. All minnows so far [ Post made via Android ]
  15. Guys- any tips about oneida eyes this time of year? I assume thy are still relatively deep. Is it more of a stickbait bite or harness bite? Do you work the edges of shoals or just the deep water holes? I have had decent success early in the season on ledges with worms, but struck out a few weeks ago in the deep water... When do these fish start moving shallow again? I might go out in about a week and wanted to do some research. I am thinking that if I cant get the eyes, then I can certainly harrass some perch in the mid depths with worms and fatheads, so all shouldnt be totally lost. Any tips are appreciated, as I have only fished oneida about 6 times.
  16. I worked as a mate for 6 years and can tell you that a coho over 15 is a relatively special coho. I would probably do it [ Post made via Android ]

We did 4 shorties in there, including a few nice steelies and a brown. I decided to go out to the deep water, and once we got to 28 N we did a triple (2 big steelies and a 2 year old king about 8 lbs). At about 11:30 with the waves building we were about to pull when we had a big rip on the 80 downrigger. That fish turned out to beat my boat record from 2 days ago, this time a big guy that weighed in at 29 lbs 15 ounces which is currently sitting 10th...... The oak is treating me very well this week. The big guy took a glow with green dot SD with a Glow atommik fly. Temps where about 100 down in close, 80 down out deep. Here is the big guy. Hope to be out tomorrow- will be on 79 if anyone wants to talk. Good luck everyone! Abe
  18. Here is the pic, as promised Out again tomorrow, good luck everyone!

Your Name / Boat Name: continuity/fish doctor ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 8/24/11 Time on Water: 7-12 Wind Speed/Direction: s 10-20 Waves: 1-2 Location: out front Total Hits: 14 Total Boated: 8 Species Breakdown: mostly salmon, 2 steelies, 1 brown Hot Lure: mag silver streaks and cut bait Trolling Speed: 1.8-2.2 Boat Depth: 110-180 Lure Depth: 65-110, dipseys 220-280 Finally a good day on salmon. Nice mix of 2-4 year olds, with 2 piggies mixed in at 22 lbs and 28.4 lbs. The big one sets my boat record by a solid 4 lbs. Was 30 on the boat scale when I caught it. Mostly a dispey bite with meat but the big guy hit a bloody nose dw mag. Hopefully I'll be taking to the taxidermist... Pics to come Back out Friday and sat, hope to see you out there. Good luck! Your Name / Boat Name: Continuity/Fish Doctor Time on Water: 7-2 pm Weather/Temp: warm, sunny Wind Speed/Direction: sw 5-15 Waves: 1-3 Surface Temp: 73 Location: 7-9 west, 24 n then 27-29 n Total Hits: 15 Total Boated: 12 Species Breakdown: 1 18 lb king, 1 mega steelhead, 2 decent keeper steelies, the rest 2 year old salmon Hot Lure: Cut bait on a twinkie took 11 shots, mag spoons took the rest Trolling Speed: 1.9-2.2 Lure Depth: 70-110 riggers, 240-320 dipseys ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Started in close and was 3 for 4 on shakers in 90-130 FOW about 3-5 miles east. After screwing around there with the dinks and traffic, we picked up and ran out to 27N and trolled north. A slow steady pick of different year classes of salmon, all less then 10 lbs but one was about 18 lbs. Also took one nice big steelie (11 lbs or so) that I didnt weigh in for some reason. Cutbait was by far my MVP. mostly a dipsey bit 220-320 back on setting 2. Very good action, somewhat lacking in size. I cannot get the freaking salmon to go in the short water, which is where they rightfully should be this time of year. Any thoughts. FWIW, the temp was 48-54 down 100-110 in close, a bit higher (80-90) out deep. Good luck! I hang out on 69 or 79 if anyone wants to talk. Here all week. Abe
  21. Hey Steve. I'll be out all week at the oak. Give me a shout. Good luck this weekend Abe [ Post made via Android ]

Nice guy. Very productive am for the two of us. Mix of steel and kings on relatively deep riggers (mostly 85-110 down) and deep dipseys ( 300-330). By far the best rig was a meat rig with a twinkie, and mag spoons. The new rhys Davis cutbait is pretty good. Temp was 48-52 down 90-100 out there. N/s troll was best. Did a big pig steelie, shoulda signed up for the Derby.... hope to be out tomorrow is the weather allows. Good luck! Abe [ Post made via Android ]
  23. Fish the marks. If you were seeing them 70-80 down, then run some stuff up in that water, temperature be damned. 160 down is crazy deep, and with anything less than a 15 pound ball I doubt you got that more than 110 down unless you were crawling. Also, a salmon doesn't mind temps in the low-mid 50s, even though he likes upper 40s better. I just about never fish deeper than 120 down.
  24. Your Name / Boat Name: Continuuity/Fish Doctor Date(s): 7/30 and 7/31 Time on Water: 7:30-11:30 both days basically Weather/Temp: warm, sunny, rained sun am Waves: 2 or less Surface Temp: 76 Total Hits: 9 saturday, 10 sunday Total Boated: 3 saturday, 5 sunday Species Breakdown: steelies and kings Hot Lure: mag white/glow moonshines, flounder pounder, dalmation spinny with mirage fly Boat Depth: 100-500.... Lure Depth: 60-90 down, 200-300 dipseys Finally got my boat down to the oak for a month. Very nice port to fish out of Decent numbers this weekend hit wise, but I had an aweful case of the dropsies (and 2 breakoffs, which I really hate). Very, Very frustrating... Saturday started in 100 FOW and pointed NW into the waves. Not a sniff till i got to about 25N, and we had 2 screamers on that we lost, one on a flounder pounder that was bit off and one on a mag moonshine that he spit. Looped back through that with nothing to show, so continued north. It was a liquid dessert until we got to 27.8 N, 13W and then we had bait and fish. We proceeded to get decent action with small kings and nice steelies through the rest of the AM between 28N and 29N, but i couldnt keep them bastards stuck. It was mostly a rigger bite on mag spoons down 55-80 out deep, 60-90 in closer. We did have a 240 dipsey that fired twice with a dalmation spinny... On Sunday, with the south wind, we started in tight. Screen was lit right up with bait and fish in 90 FOW, and we did pick up probably 4 or 5 fish right off the bat in close, between 110-150. However, with the crazy boat traffic and lack of any size, I decided to move back out to my waypoints from the day before. On the way out there, I had a little flurry on small guys at 26.5 N. I did finally get back to my 28+ N, but they werent as active out there. My best move would have been to stay inside I think, but with only one other person on my boat I just couldn't stand the thought of fighting with traffic all day. Again, primarily a rigger bite with glow or white spoons from 65-90 down. Hope to see you guys out there soon. Will be at it out there on weekends through Aug 27. Abe
  25. I mostly fish on the east side but spend a month in the oak late July/august. In my opinion, I see way MORE bait on the east side. I've seen 50+ pods of bait on many a day out there. How they could ever claim decreased bait would be mistifying to me. When my rod tips are shaking violently, I know there is a lot of bait... I once saw them netting bait out in r400 fow, when I was in 120 marking pod after pod. Do they vary their depths of netting? [ Post made via Android ]
