The small stinger purple Gator on the 60-70 rigger was best. 29-30 line still has bait and fish. Crazy ice water out to 26.5 from what I can see Where are the kings? The oak has beautiful quality steelies, which kinda makes up for it... [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  4. Are your riggers too low? I almost always try to stay just above the marks... their eyes look up naturally. Maybe I am wrong though [ Post made via Mobile Device ]

Location: 11-15 W, 23.5-25.5 N =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 6 saturday, 12 sunday Total Boated: 6 saturday, 10 sunday Species Breakdown: Mostly Kings (and mostly of the skipper variety) with one brown and one good steelie Hot Lure: green and purple gator, silver alewife and sea sick waddler- all in DW SS or small stinger size Trolling Speed: Down Speed: Boat Depth: 90-260 Lure Depth: 55-80 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Saturday was a perfect day. just me and another person so limited to 4 rods. Regardless we had a slow pick of decent quality fish, including an 18 lb king and a beautiful 8-9 lb steelie. GOT all of my fish saturday on a tiny area 25.3 N 12.3 W. All in all a very pleasant, low stress type day. Then came Sunday. We were greeted with 15 NE wind, colder water and TONS OF SKIPPIES. I couldnt get away from them. They were everywhere. A steady pick of 2-5 lbs salmon from 90 all the way out to 250. They were even in my water from saturday, where i proceeded to double up on skippies. If I had my spread out for more than 1/2 hour, almost a gaurantee to have a rider somewhere. Decent action, but nothing of any size. All released but one, who was mangled by a dodger/meat rig combo. Next few years ought to be interesting.....
  11. Thats alot bigger than 15 lbs.... 19-20ish I would say. Look at the head and the tail...

  14. Fishing Report- Fish Doctor ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 7/17 and 7/18 Time on Water: 5:30-12:30 both days Weather/Temp: Hot and breezy Wind Speed/Direction: W SW 10-20 Waves: 1-3 sat, 3-5 sun Surface Temp: 72 Location: straight out to afro (about 6 miles west) =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 11 for 13 saturday, 4 for 5 sunday Species Breakdown: ALL browns Hot Lure: Small superslim glow spoons, mag alewife glow Trolling Speed: 1-3 SOG Down Speed: Ha, No clue Boat Depth: 50-80 saturday, 80-110 sunday Lure Depth: 50-90 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Fished the Sodus Proam. Saturday was a good day, steady action, though a bit of sorting throught smaller brownies. I got a bit greedy at 10:00 and went outside to look for salmon. I think that was a mistake because i sure didnt find em. Shoulda stayed and boxed on browns. Ended the day with 6 good keeper browns. We caught all of our fish from the trailer park to boller point 50-70 FOW 45-65 down. We did manage a nice brownie out in 150 FOW 75 down as well, but thats it. I ended the day with 90 pts, not feeling too bad..... Then comes sunday- weather report says wind 10 kts or less, waves 1-3 feet. I motor out in 3-5 footers to find that my fish are GONE. Not until we got to 95+ FOW do I even get a hit. All of my hits came 90-100 FOW in front of the trailer park. I spent waaaaay too much time to the west where I heard of a good bite. Never leave fish to find fish.... only got 64 pts today, good for 155 pts and 11th or 12th overall I think. Sundays 3-5 footers with the occasional 6 was about as rough as I dare fish. We really took a butt whooping for those 4 fish. I had to troll 500 RPMS faster than usual into the waves, and was going 3 SOG on my GPS trolling with them, and thats with occasional neutral bumps. My only acceptable speed was quartering them, which you can imagine was pleasant with 4 and 5 and 6 foot waves. Yikes. Back at it next weekend
  15. Not really sure that this fits here, but here goes... For the first time since I have owned my boat, it will be in a port NOT named Sodus- I am taking it to Oak Orchard 7/23-8/23. I have fished Sodus with someone else or on my own boat for 10 years now, but now live in Greece, and Sodus aint exactly close... I will be fishing this weekend in the Oak hopefully the 24th and 25th. I am perfectly capable of catching fish, but have NO experience in this area- therefore I have no clue what the landmarks are, the layout of the port, etc. I wanna do my homework. Likely I will buy a topo map of the west end. What I am wondering is if anyone farmiliar with the area wants to go fishing with me. I have a very seaworthy 24 foot boat, the gas, the tackle (basically everything) under control. All that I need is a person farmiliar with the area to tag along and make sure I know whats what. Hell, as far as I am concerned you can even catch most of the fish (for the proam this weekend my teammates were VERY slow and I ended up catching most of the fish . Any tips are greatly appreciated. Thanks guys. Feel free to PM me
  16. for a second there, I almost thought that this was getting blown out of proportion.... but YIKES, those pictures are PRETTY OBVIOUS! Im sorry to see that they have so much time on their hands that they can go to the trouble of editing in such great detail! Dont they have a road to pave, or signs to fix or something! Goes well with my general philosophy that all politicians cannot be trusted.
  17. An update- I tied the fly line directly onto the provided swivel and made the leader 24" with good success. I was 2 for 3 on kings yesterday (only ran one) [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  18. Nothing said or done by this administration (or the federal government as a whole) could possibly surprise me anymore. Yuk!
  19. you are a baaaaaaaaaaaad man steve. you are ON FIRE lately. Well done Sir.
  20. ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 7-11-10 Time on Water: 6-12 Weather/Temp: warm sunny Wind Speed/Direction: w sw 5-10 Waves: 1 foot or less Surface Temp: 70 Location: straight out of the channel basically LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 13 Total Boated: 10 Species Breakdown: 1 brown, 5 kings of varying sizes (biggest 18 lbs, several skippies), 4 steelies Hot Lure: gator 28 size spoon took 8 hits, dodger/fly took the rest Trolling Speed: 1.9-2.5 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 110-220 Lure Depth: 60-100 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== A good productive day out of Sodus- it was actually quite quiet in the AM- looked for brownies with one to show for my troubles. Found some decent fishing (though fairly terrible screens) deeper- had good steady action 8-10:30, including 2 doubles. Only one good major to show for my efforts, but they are there- had at least one legitimate major on and lost. Where the salmon lacked, the steelies made up nicely, and that is just fine with me. Man I hope I can put a box like this together on Saturday and Sunday for the proam. I figure about a 150 point day (not too shabby for an am)... Please be nice to my fish this week!! I have been steady on the same group of fish for 2 weeks now, and have no time for prefishing this week
  21. I couldnt love my Scotty any more. Absolutely awesome!
  22. If kept in q cool dark dry place the bulk spool should be good for years. It id sunlight and use that ruins it. I keep my rods in the cabin and change line every 2-3 years. If in doubt just change it [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  23. The bigger salmon have been more to the East, at least for me. The west has been dink city
  24. They have it in Sodus point now- a bit better than last year. I ran it for a few hours without it falling apart, so that is an improvement
