  1. I have never dealt with them before but they are within 20mins. Are you recommending them from prior work?
  2. Just rebuilt my motor last year and trying to get her running for this year. For some reason my throttle cable for the carberator will accelerate but won't come back or decrease speed it just hangs up. I can unhook it and it will move freely with no problem with the shifter. I have messed around with different settings on the side of the carberator but that didn't work either and I had to adjust the forward and reverse to compensate to shift. Does anyone have any suggestions. What makes me mad is when I had her apart I never touched anything just for that reason. I tried another carberator setting but I was only getting like half pwr as I couldn't get her on plain as she was full throttle but bogging down. I could tell it wasn't opening all the way as i moved it to the closer setting thus cutting my throttle by about 1/2. I know its a quick fix for someone that knows what they are doing but thats not me as I waive the white towel. Next question is who do you recommend in the Buffalo area. Friend of my friend was working on it for me and he is good however you know how it goes when you involve friends always too busy to help you out. I have been burned by a couple unmentioned dealers on my other boats with a yamaha and johnson outboard motors and want to try and elimate some of the unmentionable dealers. The I/O guys are new to me so I want to try and avoid the learning curve.
  3. Thanks guys for the feed back. I ended up taking it out and put in an in line shutoff with the screw switch. Works just fine now. Maybe it was the switch I had that was messed up who knows?
  4. You guys are die hards I live 20 mins from there and haven't got a line wet. Go get them... heard guys were going off shore for warmer water as the bite in 150 to 250 was slow you might want to explore if weather permits and action is slow GOOD LUCK
  5. Hey guys I too deal with the same thing. Its called the lower niagara river. You name the guide they are down there and they think they own the launches don't move out of the way its unbelieve. I was cruising down the middle of the river at least 150 yards from shore and guy starts yelling at me to slow down as his boat is boucing along a wall he is not supposed to be tied up to. I throttle down being nice guy I guess as I could barely see the guy on shore. 20 mins later a boarder patrol guy comes running down the artpark stairs stating he was told our boat was running back and forth from canada suspicously. GEEEZ I wonder who called that one in. Needless to say the boarder patrol guy apolgized and told us to have a nice day. I understand there are jerks no matter what you do but I have had too many indedents where the Lunds boys think they rule the roost. No matter if you have 100 boats trolling East to West there is always 1 guy who has to go north south...
  6. I took the batteries out of my boat last year and didn't do the best job marking the wires. I have battery shutoff switch and after reattaching and starting up the engine I got a spark and the positive side of the battery heating up on me on the #1 battery. I only ran my motor for about 10 seconds. I pulled some diagrams off the web and I have one hot wire coming into the shutoff and 2 coming out. One is going to one battery positive and the other to the 2nd battery positive side. I than have a jumper cable connecting the 2 negative sides. I thought this was right but I guess not. Any help or suggestions are welcome. I am thinking that its running 24 volts instead of 12. I have the selector switch on #1 battery and tried selecting to both and got a spark when i flicked it over
  7. calling for heavy east winds on friday 10-20. I would pay attn to the weather before heading out besides the rain for the weekend
  8. I liver here in Niagara County and would also 2nd 4th of July thru August - kings and steal head. The weather in the spring is tough hit or miss.
  9. never had a problem with running them out - my program to start with is a 1#dispey 2 1/2 setting back 185 with power pro can't remember the weight of line 60 -80 pd weight ? That will get me down to 60 feet with a I think 9 inch spin doctor not the big one next size down. I know this will drag bottom in 60 ft. My favorite color is lime green for salmon.
  10. My buddy has a 21 ft Islander and its a great boat very light has a 4 cylinder in it. Not to bad on gas but as mentioned before rides high on the waves as of being so light and the thing flies on calm days. 21ft seems to be the max trailerable size I think you should do. I also like the I/O don't ask me why but I always seem to catch more with the I/O than the outboards. Something about the sound or disurbance.?

Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):8-7 Time on Water:6hr Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction:West 15 Waves: 1 to 3 Surface Temp: 76 Location:Niagara Bar LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 15 Total Boated:10 Species Breakdown:steelhead / salmon Hot Lure: mix Trolling Speed: 2 Down Speed: 2 Boat Depth: 120-400 Lure Depth: 40-80 Started on the bar with a couple shakers and one steelhead. There was a couple boats out there picking away at them but we thought it wasn't worth the effort to keep beating skippy of the line to poke at a couple decent ones. We set course north for the long drive out to fish 27 -30 line. 2 to 3 ft waives made it an interesting drive out. We hit one mayb 5 to 7 pd steelhead right off the bat but struggled after that. Finally got to our old marks and started to pick away at them. Excitmite of the day was right rigger goes off fish on, left rigger goes off fish on and dipsey goes off all within about 5 seconds. Lose right rigger fish lose left rigger fish, mostly because we coudn't get it out of the holder. Finally dipsy fish still on and taking line so we new it was a king. Maybe twenty minute battle pulled up a 26.6. Not bad but wish it was 30 LOL. The temp was high so it seems to make things tougher fish are spooker when 35 ft down is the break.
  12. don't be discouraged by not seeing any thing out deep we fish all day and 99 percent of the fish we catch you don't mark anyways. You are looking for pods of bait fish once you start working those you'll find fish. I fished Saturday and most likley steelhead were busting bait on the surface pretty cool.
  13. I got my banded mylar material from Siggs Riggs. My flies catch just as many as any pre- manufactured and I get more satisfaction out of something I made myself. Nice list of other places I am going to check them out. I have tried some other materials and am a big fly fisherman so I have tried other stuff but stick with the banded material its the easiest. They are too easy to tie not to try it yourself. Good Luck
  14. Thanks for the tips guys
  15. Well, I finally ripped apart my motor from #1 spark plug blowing up. Piston looks fine, took the head into mechenic and he spotted the valve immediate said was low. He went thru to check everything out and the value very very badley indented. I am not a mechanic so I don't know the terms. He gave me 2 options poor ignition or bad fuel. He said the ethanol could be a factor and said something about cold fuel not burning hot enought? I am redoing all the values / lifters you name it on that side. Has any one had this problem before and I plan on pumping out the 1/4 fuel i have. I put the water seperator on this year and its seems I have never had so many problems this year. Its my 2nd year with the boat. I have been told to only run 89 octane instead of 87 by somebody else. Any input is greatly appreciated.
  16. You might just want to head off shore pending the weather. We normally would do the same start in close looking for kings and then head off shore but lately it hasn't been worth the time. Go straight to 400' or roughly 26/5 line and as Gill T said start your spread. Last Sundy temp was real high not sure if you have a temp gauge but I would start high. 30 and 40 with cheaters and your braid dipseys on a 3 setting at 135 ish. We had over 20 fish on last week. Ever day is different but offshore has been fantastic all year. Kings are out there as well landed a 24# sunday and ever time took a run of one - Flasher flind just a little deeper in temp.

Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):8-1 Time on Water:6 - 12 Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction:East Waves: 3 - 5 Surface Temp: 76 Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 20 Total Boated:11 Species Breakdown:steelhead / salmon Hot Lure: stinger Trolling Speed: 3 Down Speed: 1.5 - 2 Boat Depth: 400 Lure Depth: 30 Made it out before the big winds blew started 27 line - couldn't get the lines in the water. I set the first rigger and as soon as i put the rod in the holder bam 5 pd steely. Ok no big deal I land it and put it down again as I am putting the rod in the holder I feel it release thinking it popped from the release. Wrong Fish ON that was pretty cool can't remember the last time that happened to me. The first 15mins we could get both riggers down. We had that flurry for about 15mins and than nothing. Circled back thru but it got quite. Finally after about 1 hour started picking away at them. Big fish of the day was a 24 king that ripped 500 ft out. Took NK rainbow down deep in the center rigger. Deep was 35 down really high temp out there today. Waves built up all day and we had a long ride back in 3 to 5's. Fishing as usualy was great
  18. Since my boat is done for the year I am lucky enought to fish with my friend John Vanhoff out of the Terminator. he used to work and still fills in a time or two at Big Catch. He taught me everything I know and we are lucky enough to have Dave as a fishing partner who knows pretty much everything and everyone. He has every 80's to early 90's spoon there is. I just wish I could of got that stealy in but it was amazing to see. We will see if the fish push the 40pd mark this year. The Niagara Bar where i normally fish so far hasn't impressed me this year but we will see. Lake has been funny this year out there lately for us offshore has been the ticket with a mixed bag. I am sure someone will get a 40 this year before they hit the creeks. Lets see if the bar can produce one this year.
  19. Total Hits: 20 Total Boated:11 Species Breakdown:steelhead / kings Hot Lure: flasher fly / purple / green spoons Trolling Speed: 3 Down Speed: 2.25 Boat Depth: 200-400 Lure Depth: 50 Well the usual fishing out of the fort we plucked away at kings and steelies. To sum of the disappointing day dipsey goes off with a long steady pull. I grab it and a huge 15pd plus jumps up in the air. How you might say can I guess the size well I already weighed in 2 12's this year for the board and this one dwarfed them. With one jump with the dipsey on we new it was a weigher. Sorry to say when it jump 6ft out of the water again about 30 yards from my dipsey was still in the water the game was already over. Next big one of the day center rigger goes off flasher fly / green atomic fly. starts to come to the surface and all of a sudden changes it mind and start goes deep with a big run slow and steady. We new it was a big king. 25 mintues later after doing loops chasing it the 30pds hits the boat. Look at the watch and 12:45. TOO LATE I am not sure what low weight is but guesing it would of been scratching 17-20 place. You might recognize this face its Dave Kindzia former owner of Devils Hole Bait and tackle on his retirement plan.
  20. I have fished out of my boat and friend boats this year and I have been joking the lead core hasn't gone off once but it seems everytime we run it out bam a fish hits on something else and he comes the tangles. Last year we caught quite a few on the lead this year nothing so far. Although a couples times out the temp was too deep for it and we couldn't run it.
  21. Nothing beats catching them on your own creations - I'm in the same boat I make all of mine as well

We had a slow start but finally got a program going. Pretty much every spoon in the box took a hit - purple / silver / gold / green - once we found them after about a 2 hr dry spell. We put a hurting on them. Beautiful steelies avg was 8 to 10.5pds with some small kings
