  1. I see some tournaments have 4 fish cooler limits. If a team has their 4 fish, are they allowed to cull?
  2. After seeing the Shimano Tolora rods, they just didn't do it for me. They seemed a bit whimpy. So I ended up buying Daiwa DXT 8'6" Med rods. They handle well, load nicely and look great. And got them for a great price @ $51 each. They have since raised their price to $55. If I chartered, I'd go with an inexpensive rod also but these are for personal use and I'll treat them with care. Daiwa has been around for a long time and after using their 47LC reels for 27 years and 27LC reels for at least 10 years without breakage, they have gained my respect Superior Tackle http://www.superiortackle.com/product-list/rods-1572/rods-downrigger-musky-1581/?rb_br=215
  3. Has anyone used these yet and how did you like them

  6. Good point Brian
  7. I just viewed tips & tricks on the Bloodrun site and exactly, this happened to me. I had a birdnest like crazy When retrieving copper from the water without a fish, or with a small fish, press down on the copper onto the foregrip of your fishing rod which applies pressure to the copper as you pack on the last 30-50 feet. Freewheeling copper back onto a reel without tension will cause backlash and tangles on the next deployment.
  8. Thanks guys, this group is a wealth of information
  9. I said I wasn't going to cross the line but I did. Got a Daiwa Seagate60 loaded with #45 400' copper. I know there's many variables but about how deep can I expect this stuff go? Be nice to know about how deep it's running

  18. The thing you need to remember about running meat is you shouldn't need to impart any action to the meat rig, as it has its own (dying bait) action. The flasher is just to attract. I usually use a 54" - 60" leader for meat rigs. You'll want a corkscrew motion more than a tight spin. I used to run a lot of meat until RD stopped selling it in the states. I may try running it again this season. Just my take
  19. Anyone know the KHZ?
